The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...

I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.

Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.

Cool cool. I guess it depends when you set it - if you set it mid-50's then it leaves a lot of opportunities. And there's a lot of non-US aircraft to choose from as well, even if we're not playing the Eastern Bloc. I'm from England, and I'd love to pilot a Hawker Hunter, or a Sea Vixen, and they're only two of the options.
OK! Sounds good to me. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. And I for one hail our new overlord.
Hello, I am also interested in this, depending on how it develops in terms of depth of plot and how constrained by realism it is. By which I mean, if we have to account for every system of every part of our mecha having a real explanation in terms of what it's made from, powered by, what it shoots, etc. then I wouldn't be interested. However, if there's a consistent tech-base and tech-level for everything that doesn't make the setting look like a 'mech-blender', then I'm definitely interested. And if the background is good too.
I'm always up for anything aviation based, as it's too damn rare to begin with. If jets are a possibility, then I'm definitely in. I also love the idea of a 'Cold War Gone Hot', and fighting the Russians as they roll across Europe.
"Scott, make sure your AT has HEDP for structures AND vehicles,"

Scott nodded. He'd been sure to load up the maximum variety of rounds for the mission, with a favourable bias towards AP round, but there was enough HE to make anything think twice about crossing with them. He picked up the pace on the heels of Jan and the others, double-timing in their wake. The ridgeline came and went under their boots, and then Jan was directing them to shoot at the hostile contacts that had loomed up seemingly out of the landscape.
He threw himself down and aside into cover behind a low outcropping. Propping himself up on his elbows, he pulled the MP5 tight into his shoulder, and sighted through the red-dot atop the received. Grimacing, he pulled the trigger twice smoothly, the H&K Subgun coughed out a pair of rounds into center mass on the enemy target nearest to the group, red flowers blossoming into life on his clothing as he jerkily dropped into a crumpled heap. He moved to shift targets, but even as he did, he didn't expect to find one; the rest of the group were adamant professionals enough that the tangoes would likely all be down before he could blink fast enough.
Regarding the employment of recon pods and devices, I think it depends on the particular device. Most recon camera pods are high-resolution digital cameras (either still photo or video, or even both), and from what I understand, they have an array of cameras pointing to both sides at an angle, as well as straight down, as they're usually carried on the centreline pylon of an aircraft. The aircraft flies a straight-and-level course and the pilot triggers the camera to begin recording at an interval, and then stops it after they've passed over the target area. I imagine with modern and up-to-date systems, GPS would play a part in knowing when to start and stop the recording too.
The tricky part is not getting shot down by all the air defences or fighters that will be coming after you while you're flying around in straight lines...
Really sorry to hear you're having to drop out for now, Minder - it's always been great having you around. I know how it is to need a break sometimes, and to not have motivation as well. You'll obviously be welcome back if you do want to come back, but I hope you can take your time and get yourself some free time you need.

Noooo, Team Two ):

I'll rejig the numbers a bit - I'll assign Shadowman to your team, which makes things even again. Also, it gives him a good way in by talking to one of the experienced characters too.
Blade sat on the edge of the desk after the others had shuffled out of the room, and looked to Amelia with a nod.
"Thanks fer stayin'. You've really shown your tactical know-how over the last week or so of trainin'," he started with an approving nod. "Yer a reliable asset, and yer GEAR is one as well. That borne in mind, what recommendations have y'all got fer this situation? Given we're operatin' wi'out much in th' way of recon or support due to the location and local Geomagnetic conditions." He glanced at the map and back to her, studying the other elegantly poised vulpine with interest in her opinion and keen mind.
"I'm pretty sure y'all are gonna say splittin' us up was a bad plan, but given we got hostages an' they're already in the clutches of the bad guys, locatin' em quick is our first priority. And it's ain't like we can't cover the distance between targets once we uncover the location of the captives... Just give me a rundown of any more suggestions. I'm interested in your input on the scenario".
That's okay, as long as I know people are still interested and still here, that's all that really matters. Sorry to hear you've been having so many problems, hope they clear up for you soon.
I have FINALLY made a new post with the briefing, detailing what our mission will be - or is meant to be, at least... hopefully it will be to everyone's taste, and should keep things moving.
Can't believe we're down to only five aircraft... that's a pretty poor showing from how many we began with. I'm hoping that we might get a couple of new players if we keep things going.

Nautilus, I also corrected your character sheet link in the OP - for some reason I'd accidentally linked it to Winters' sheet - sorry about that, and I've now corrected the link >.<;;
