The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...

I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.

Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.

Silverwind couldn't help but give a grin of satisfaction as the bay came to life with the movements and sounds of GEARs swinging into action. Though he was thoroughly ensconced within the Harlock's cockpit and insulated from the outside world and its' sounds and smells, he could visualize the hum of turbines coming to life, the whine of the artificial muscles and joints, and the hiss of hydraulic systems, along with the thump of rubber-soled metal-shod feet on the deck; underscoring it all would be the harsh tang of lubricant, hot metal, and the stale smell of bodies in motion.
Despite his many years of the same thing, he still loved it; still got fired up seeing a Tactical GEAR Unit, a TGU, run through their paces. He felt the thrill rise in his chest as the C3i system lit up with the designations of the team, and the commo net burst to life with the chatter of everyone checking in and handing off details with the CIC decks above their heads.
On time cue, the cavernous bay door cracked open into a line of light that swelled into a rectangular opening to the world outside.
Moving to the front of the formation, and beckoning with one cocked hand, he engaged the GEAR's foot-wheels and sped down the ramp toward the outside, hitting the dusty ground at a fair pace.

"All right, Roughriders! Move out. Y'all have yer designated positions. Form up into your teams and keep in las-com contact. Regular check-ins, and do not engage unless fired upon. Ken, keep an eye on us from overhead. Esailia, let me know th' moment y'all find anythin' aboard that crawler. GogoGO!"
Rooster tails of dust flared behind the moving machine as Silver veered off on course toward the waypoint highlighted on the holo-projected HUD, flicking his single-eyed glance down to keep a track of the others as they split and head on their own course.
I'll have a full post up when I'm back from my holiday
Just to reiterate, in case it was missed, I'm off on holiday for a week from tomorrow. So, no posts from me until I get back!
Like I said, it's going to be about a week until I can get something up anyway.
Also, you've kind of been left hanging, so it's not entirely surprising you haven't had a chance to post.
No probs - as I said previously, I'm going to be away for a week from Saturday, so I won't be able to post. Just so you don't think I've dropped out or anything!
Glad to hear it - sorry I'm not going to be around for a week so we can get into it sooner! ^^;;

Thanks, man. And I'm really sorry if I was acting like a jerk earlier.

Eh, no worries. Let's just forget about it for now and keep moving onward.

Keyblade, your character looks great - your image link seems to be broken though, I'm afraid!
I'll add him to the OP all the same.

I was concerned with having one guy fly a two seater airplane. Then I realized that the characters in the Ace Combat do that shit all the time.

You can have a second character if you like as an NPC. Alternatively, you can just pass it off as 'modernised avionics', and I'd be happy for that to be a good enough reason.

On to the characters!

Freeshooter, Jackson looks good. I like his bio, and I wouldn't worry too much about the service record - it's just there in case you'd like to have your character have a particular history or record of previous battles etc. that others might have heard of. Take a gander at the other approved characters' sheets for some reference.

Regarding the AI in the plane, I'm okay with it provisionally. I'm guessing it's not going to be an uber-genius AI, it's more there to carry out autopilot functions and act as a 2nd crewman, than a 'replacement human' or anything. That said, I can already see sneaky ways I can work it into the plot ¬,¬
Regarding the link to profile, it's there as a link to the Wiki page for the aircraft, nothing more exciting or in-depth than that.

Nobodyman, Benjamin looks fine too. A couple of your links are broken though, and a little of the formatting is off. The actual character looks fine though, no problems whatsoever :)

Aristo, your character looks great too. No problems with her whatsoever.

I'll add Karen, Benjamin and Jackson to the OP list of characters.
Regarding getting all three of you into the game, I'm off on holiday for a week on Saturday, so I figure I'll leave the game 'paused' for the meantime to allow the other possible players to post their characters in the interim, and once I'm back I'll write you guys in.
I'm off on holiday in the next couple of days, so I'm not going to try and rush putting a character up before I go away, so I'll get one up when I get back.
I'm thinking a middle-aged sort of guy, maybe with a fairly educated background pre-war, and a few fighting skills. And an anthro too, I think.
Depressingly, for all of that time that you've been away, barely a thing has happened - we've slowed down to a half-dead crawl at the moment.

I'm going on holiday for a week from Saturday. When I get back, I'm going to slap the game into action, and get us launched and on this goddamn mission.
