The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...

I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.

Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.

Glad you like her! I had a lot of fun creating her as a character.

I hope we get some more players soon too.
Name: Rebecca Smart
Age: 33
Personality:
Rebecca has a fairly outgoing and open personality. She has dedicated much of her life to a professional career in the EFF, first beginning her career in the Air Force.
She has always had a professional attitude to her work, but is a somewhat laid-back and cheerful person for the most part, treating even negative situations with a dark humour.
She was born on Earth, rather than in space, but still has a great deal of empathy for those who live in space, as her mother was a spacenoid, and was critically wounded in the early stages of the war, and is currently in a coma. She has a strong dedication for fighting Zeon forces, but does not see them all as universal monsters, instead seeing it as her duty to fight, but expecting that they view it much the same way.
She tends to keep quiet about her views regarding the enemy, and even her allies, having seen many EFF personnel act with cruelty and general unbecoming conduct towards POWs and other Zeon personnel, but has stepped up and put herself in the way of near-atrocities and war crimes due to her beliefs and general feelings regarding the situation.

Aside from her military-related qualities, she is a fond lover of old music, drinking and a smoker. Despite this, she does love to indulge in pursuits such as dancing (having studied professional dance at a younger age), and is also a keen swimmer.

Appearance: Rebecca
Mobile Suit: Gundam Pixie
Rank: 2nd Lieutenant
Bio:
Rebecca was trained as an attack helicopter pilot, and distinguished herself in the opening stages of Zeon's operation to drop mobile suits and other forces to earth in March 0079.
Operating in North America, she and her squadron used their helicopters' capabilities to the maximum extent. Using pop-up attacks and extensive hit-and-run operations they disabled a handful of Zeon forces, particularly striking rear-area supply convoys and support elements, although their losses were extensive, and the changing front-lines forced them to abandon their tactics.

Her quick-thinking and developing of skills, coupled with her ingenuity and daring lead to her being reassigned to training as a Mobile Suit pilot, and assigned to the Northern Europe task force. After completing her training on a GM Trainer and showing high aptitude and a strong grasp of mobile suit piloting skills, she was assigned to piloting a ground-type GM for a short while, racking up a goodly number of kills and showing excellent aptitude, as well as her strong personality characteristics suiting her well towards the role of a mobile suit pilot.

With this information coming through, she was reassigned to piloting one of the handful of RX-78XX Gundam Pixie units, and sent with her Pixie to Northern Europe to join a unit there in further operations to dislodge Zeon from the region.

I hope that's okay. I tried to put in a good mix of information, and make her distinctive and worth having a gundam-type unit, without being a super-duper ace or anything.

Also, I used this for the ranks. I put her rank in the Ground Forces, as she was a helicopter pilot.

Truly sorry, I'm being gutterstomped by real life right now. I'll try to have a post in by friday, and if I can't, go on without me.

Hey, it's not your character I'm waiting for, or any of the other new ones. You guys haven't been introduced yet.
I know that Skythikon isn't available at the moment as he said he's been drafted into the Singaporean Air Force. Not sure about anyone else though.
The requirement I put up is a post in one post a week, so still waiting a few says before I get the banhammer out.
Yeah, I've been waiting for posts before I put anything else up too, but it seems no-one's jumping in. I'll give it til friday, and if nothing's forthcoming, I'll make another post.
I'll look into that shortly - I'll have to have a look.

Of course. I was thinking that the Pixie is being tested to see if it is worth mass producing during the RP.

Sounds good to me. I like the idea as well that if it's a limited production model, then spares will be hard to come by. I figure it'll end up being an inadvertent custom due to being repaired with GM parts and whatever else is around.

And Aristo, I was going to flag this up to you, but looks like I don't need to!
Posted to note my interest, as we discussed when coming up with the RP. Also, am I still good to have the pixie?
""Our first objective will be to recon the sites of anti-ship weapon emplacements, and airfields basing long-range strike aircraft, or missiles. The best aircraft suited to such a role are Excalibur Four and Excalibur Five."

From my briefing :)
So, it'll be a combination of shore-based anti-ship missions on the coast as we're exiting the area, and inland airfields for strike aircraft/bombers.
It has great animation, good characters, and a pretty good plot too (Romeo and Juliet - With Mecha!). All the action sequences are great too, and they redesigned some of the more goofy-looking designs from original Gundam into more plausible designs too.
Its setting is kind of like 'Vietnam war meets gundam', although not quite as bleak as most 'nam war movies, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Another thing to think of is how they will all fit in combat. As using wing and seed for examples, wing's gundams are just made of a very special alloy, which is why they are so durable and strong, in seed, the gundams all seem to have phase shields, wing uses bullets for projectiles, seed uses energy. (sorry if I am wrong, it has been a while since I watched seed)

I'd also say this is something to point out too - in Gundam Wing, the 5 gundams tend to 'steamroller' most of the grunt suits and opposition they come across short of the Tallgeese and the enemies in the latter half of the show, whereas in most UC and a handful of the other series, the grunts can put up a decent fight, and there's more of a risk element involved, and the sides are more evenly balanced.
The phase-shift armour in Seed is a good example of tech needing to be balanced too, and the setting needing a unified background - there weren't any N-Jammers, the devices in the Seed universe that stopped nuclear reactors from working, in the other settings, just as Minovsky particles were only in the UC setting.
Also, if you get G-Gundam in there, then there's even more weird stuff to consider.
I might also be interested, and happy to help, as I have watched most of the UC series, and have at least a passing familiarity with the others through having read summaries, articles, etc.

The Gundam Wiki is also really useful, and has a lot of info about mobile suits and technology on it for reference purposes.

Also, Gurren1 - 08th MS Team is my favourite too!
