The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...

I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.

Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.

The video's broken before I could even watch it. It's the OOC post #550 that I'm referring to.

I wasn't sure if it might be. I think it's because I copy'pasta'd it from my facebook news feed. Let me see if I can find the native one on youtube and edit. Thanks for the heads-up.
Also, I think the coding for embedding a video is a bit wonky.

EDIT: It should work now.
Blade slowed the Harlock as the trio approached the village. He gave a click of the radio in a confirmation to Mike as he broke away, before turning an ear to Aidan's transmission and listening intently.

"Roger, no activity at the target. Things look quiet at our location too. We're moving in to investigate now and will keep you informed. Stay wary, out".

An incoming signal sounded from Nawlin, and he toggled the channel to reply.
Looks clear from here sir, do I enter, or continue east towards the rear, while maintaining overwatch?

He hesitated as he considered the tactical situation. The terrain looked relatively clear, with no hostiles in sight so far. The buildings, though relatively few in number, were enough to block the line-of-sight between Prowler and the position of himself and Kuraiko. If there was anyone amongst the buildings, they may well be lying in wait. A pincer movement might help, and they'd get a better overview if they could approach from multiple directions. Especially since Mike's GEAR was designed to scout and recon - exactly the kind of scenario they were in, in fact.
"Move in toward the rear and approach, Nawlin. We'll get a better idea if there's anyone there then. We'll approach from the front and try and draw them out. If there's any hostiles, we can get them in a pincer movement".
He swivelled the grey-black head of his GEAR toward the sleeker shape of Kuraiko's. The wolf gave a tactical appraisal of the situation and an overview of his approach, and the fox replied, pivoting back to observe the approach toward the central cluster of buildings.
"I agree," he replied as he observed the streets and byways they had to approach on. The settlement was small and quite rustic, with unpaved streets and white-washed desert buildings, most no larger than three stories and separated by dusty patches of earth for yards or access to the rear or next street over of the grid-like pattern.
"Move up in a slight staggered formation, two abreast. Should give us enough cover if we're ambushed. Sweep th' angles as we move an' be sure ta keep an eye on the windows and doors - Infantry like firin' their heavy weapons from internal places at GEARs, gives 'em good angles at joints".
He'd learned that lesson in more than a few peacekeeping ops, and joint exercises with Esailia's team over the last week had re-taught the lesson as well.
"Keep it slow an' steady," he advised, before pulling the Harlock up from its' crouch and moving forward, the autocannon/rifle held out in front at a ready position, sensors sweeping the area as he moved in.

At the mine, there was similarly little evidence of the enemy, but no evidence that they weren't there either. The yawning mouth of the tunnel beckoned the GEARs to close in, and the lingering darkness inside the tunnel, big enough for the GEARs to advance single-file and upright, hid whatever secrets were inside.

At the Landcrawler location, the vehicles remained quiet as a tomb. Fabric flapped in the dry breeze, and paper danced on the wind, stirred up as the helo came into a hover. No tracers exploded from cover, and no seeking missiles lashed out from below. The dominant sound was the clatter of helicopter rotors and engines as the aircraft hovered above.

I see. Alright.
Also, I derped, I meant wing and flight to be switched around.

Sorry if that was 'a lot of text', but I get really, REALLY pissed off when people ask me things that are already explained in the OOC or as part of the game background. It's there to be read, and if people are 'too lazy' to read it, or 'can't be bothered', then they can fuck right off out of my game, because I don't feel like I should bother wasting my time on them either and answering their stupid fucking questions. IT'S A TEXT BASED GAME, reading is a big part of it.

But hey, you said it's alright, so that's good ^_____^

I'll get a post up today, as I'm heading off for the weekend to meet up with a friend who's moving out of the UK. I should have 'net access since I'll be staying with my folks, but it'll only be from my tablet, so expect hilarious predictive text mistakes if I do post.
Yeah, it would be nice to get some characters up for this so we can get it moving. We've got enough players to get this moving.
Not really sure what you mean by 'flair', but it doesn't seem lacking in any of the same firepower or other statistics the others have (other than the Virgo 3, which is a beast). If anything, I'd say the fact it transforms gives it more fancy gimmicks than the others, but I suppose it's down to personal opinion more than anything else. Also, it's grey, which does tend to make anything look less glamourous :P

I was deliberately not trying to take a 'starring' mobile suit or one that was particularly powerful as a starting one, which I thought was probably a reasonable idea.
Thanks for the catch on the coding, I do that sometimes by accident.
Not really sure what else to post regarding leaving the ship, or bringing Stella or not - OOC I know that you've mentioned she's being used as a weapon, but IC Rowan has no knowledge of her circumstances, so no reason to bust her out or attempt any kind of rescue. Have to see how she responds to what he's said in conversation.

Also, is my suit going to be actually horrendously outclassed, or will it be fine? I was under the impression that the MP Zeta was a pretty fair suit, since they're still using them by the time of Gundam Unicorn, which is ten-ish years after Zeta Gundam in the timeline, and they make a fair accounting of themselves. Alternate universe suits, I have no idea how it would fare against them, as they come with their own rules.
Rowan was surprised by how flighty the girl seemed. Evidently she was afraid - maybe of him. After all, he was an outsider here, and he had just followed her down a corridor. But brushing the thought aside he hesitated as he searched for the right words, before launching into conversation.
"I'm not from here too. This ship, or even I think, this um, universe. These people... do you know anything about them, or their intentions?" He looked away, back down the corridor, with a frown. "Angelo, and that Victor guy... they don't seem like... good people, I guess. And from what I've picked up and learned, some of them might even be former enemies. Or allied with them, at least..." he trailed off as she explained her own situation, holding his hands up in apology.
"I'm sorry - I'm probably not helping with any anxiety you're feeling. I just wanted to get an idea of how someone else was finding it being here. I'm sorry if you're not feeling well. If I can help, let me know - I didn't mean to bother you".
He dipped his head in a slight bow and stepped back, intending to head on toward the hangar and ready his mobile suit.
Got a post up, not a great one, but should do in chasing up Stella to lead into getting off of the ship and to the rest of youz guiz.
Also good news for me today, got a job I interviewed for, woop woop.
