The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...

I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.

Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.

All the background is the same as the main GEARs game, so I'll post a link to the first OOC post from that instead of copying it all:
GEARs OOC

The premise of this smaller-scale adventure, is that our two characters are operatives for an intelligence/covert action branch of one of Arvara's countries.
Disguised as a Salvage/Freight/etc operation based aboard a smaller-scale landcruiser, with a handful of other people and a pair of heavily modified and disguised GEARs, we travel from place to place carrying out missions vital to the security of our country, their allies, and of the Arvaran people in general.

Aside from our GEAR piloting duties, we also have various roles of meeting contacts and gathering information, retrieving people and items, and even actually carrying out salvage operations on the odd occasion.

Obviously, sneaking around and pretending to be something your not isn't always easy, and there are always people looking for you, so there's an element of danger involved. Not to mention who knows what you might come across, and how important it might end up being.

So, yeah - this gives us a place to put our character and GEAR sheets. I have some ideas for the plot to develop as we go along, and balloon into something much bigger in scale than either of our characters are expecting.
I'm thinking we should ignore the original GEARs plot completely, and have the two stories remain separate, with no mention of one another beyond places and the like, and maybe one or two knowing sly mentions or name-drops.

I'm planning on playing a completely different character, and having a different GEAR (at last!), and I was also thinking we could advance the tech a smidge too, and maybe introduce some more advanced weapons or systems for the GEARs and such as a result. Depends what you think too - I'm not thinking anything ultra-advanced like beam sabers or such, but maybe lasers or other energy weapons, and maybe GEARs capable of flight with assistance (such as a flight pack).

Where do you think we should be from too - we could go with Landren again, or we could invent another new independent state instead? I think once we've worked that out, we can create our characters.
Blah post is blah, but at least it gets the answers up and gets me onto the ship and with everyone else.
"Don't worry," said Rowan as he climbed back into the Zeta Plus, pausing on the hatch to answer the lieutenant. "I haven't made a habit of approaching people and looking for asylum and hoping not to get shot. It's not a good way of living a long and fruitful life. And it's not like I exactly chose to end up where I did either - if I had, I would've been with you guys from the start. Like I said already, I've got no love for any of the people on that other ship I was on, and they made it pretty clear they weren't keen on me either".

Rowan started up the Mobile Suit and followed the other Gundam toward the ship, following him exactly as he closed in on the hangar. With graceful and precise motions he guided the grey-black Zeta Plus into the hangar and to a steady landing. He opened the hatch as soon as he'd set down, allowing those outside to get a look at him, and to remove the armoured barrier between them in case the thought he was up to anything shady persisted.
"Let me know where to park it," he called out to the hangar crew.
Well, I think ASTA is currently unable to post, but has explained the situation he's in at the moment, so I'm not going to boot him.
Aristo, you need to make a post, or the boot of doom is coming for you. I'll give you until tomorrow, and then I'm going to get my ban-scythe out and see who hasn't posted for a week.

I understand if people are busy, let me know if that's the case though and I'll give people a bit more time.

Hate having to do this constantly...

Kind of would've appreciated having the idea of the UCAV' s being trainers run past me, as they were supposed to be a surprise, and a new type of aircraft. But since everyone has gone with it now, I'll have to save that for another time.

Going to point out that I do say in the rules that if it isn't run past me first then it doesn't exist and I can choose to ignore it - but I'll let it go this time.
Im not entirely sure but is there any specific posting order?

I have a pathological hatred of posting orders, so no.
Cool, I'd be interested to see what you think of them.
And I edited my CS to have the Zeta/ZII on it as well. Thanks for the suggestions there too.
Made the edits, as that was a good catch. It still reads okay with them in there too. And I also made my reply.

I think I will change over the suits to the Zeta and ZetaII, as they both seem pretty good, and it does make sense. I'll make the edits now. Thanks for the suggestion!

Also, as we're all (presumably!) Gundam fans, if you're not aware of it already, the first two episodes of 'Reconguista in G', the new series, are already out and available to watch with subs. I'm going to give it a look shortly. Be interesting to hear what people think. Also, the new Build Fighters series, 'Build Fighters Try' starts on the 8th, and I think it'll be available on the Gundaminfo channel on Youtube.
Rowan stood off to one side and stood to attention as the Lieutenant passed by, being sure to behave well, and make a good impression. He was encouraged by the other pilots' relatively friendly attitude and demeanour, and relaxed slightly, nodding as he mentioned not enjoying killing people.
"I'm glad to hear it," he commented in reply. "Good to know we have something in common, at least".
He gave a sheepish smile at the comment regarding the state of his suits' cockpit and gave a short laugh. "Ah, sorry about that - I guess I didn't notice it when I was piloting before. I'm either used to it, which is pretty grim, or I don't notice because I'm usually wearing a normal suit, or in space... Maybe I can scrub it out later on, heh."
He co-operated as he was patted down, assuming the position to be searched without prompting, and being sure to advise about the survival knife and personal swiss-army knife he carried before being searched. After being advised he could re-board the Zeta Plus, Rowan climbed back up into the machine.
"Thanks, Lieutenant. I'm glad everything is working out okay. Like I said, I'm not here to cause any undue trouble for anyone."
The Zeta Plus climbed back up into a standing posture with a whirring hiss of Mobile Suit machinery, eyes glowing as the machine came back to life. The head pivoted to follow Black Star's lead, waiting for further orders to proceed.
