The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...

I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.

Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.

I'd go for it - the main post is kind of waiting for the infantry team to respond to radio messages about the reinforcements to take the prisoners and to move in to the main cavern anyway, so that would help move things along and get us virtually finished off.
No worries, it happens to us all. I posted in the IC thread first by mistake, after all. Although, the almighty Mahz himself assured me this was an oversight in the boards' coding, so it wasn't solely my fault.
> I'm not sure one is supposed to put CSs into the character tab until they're accepted...One can always edit a CS post they put into the OOC and say "Moved to character tab", after all. Sorry, Es, buuuut... > Character & Aircraft Sheet- Post these in the Characters tab when you're ready, and notify the OOC thread for approval or editing. Machine did it right in the first place, As it is, both of your characters are fine anyway, so go ahead and post them into the characters tab. But for future reference, I'd like all characters in the Characters tab, with a single post for each that can be edited with any needed amendments. If you really want to, you can PM or email them to me first for checks. Also, good choice on the A-10, Es. I was considering taking one, but decided on the A-6 instead. Good see someone else took one though so I can experience it vicariously xD I can see our pilots working together heavily on ground-attack. > ...I'm blind-- I didn't notice the Guild's new updates. I have to learn so much...//sobs profoundly//....I'll have some semblance of an idea up within a day or two. //tips hat Apparently Mahz will be updating the board with BBCode at the weekend, so everything should be a bit more familiar/easier after that, so you might not have to learn too much!
My characters and aircraft sheet are now up for you to take a look at. Excited to be the first, and that this is going somewhere!
Great to hear from both of you, and that you're working on stuff. Goes without saying, but if you need any help ask. I'll get back to you as soon as I can, timezones permitting. And don't worry too much about getting things right first time, there's always room for corrections and additions. I also realize there's a lot of information to absorb and interpret, but I'm hoping that's a positive, rather than a negative or a drawback. My own characters - as I'm having a two-seat aircraft - will be up along with their plane shortly. That may help with having something to reference against for your own characters.
FYI - apologies for huge intro post, and the numerous Google Docs. Once we can add in hiders again, I'll shift things about.
Thanks for letting me know, Mahz. And glad to help in catching an issue for you.
Thunderbolt Black:

Aerial Combat, Intrigue and Adventure in a post- World War 3 alternate world.

In Thunderbolt Black, the PC's assume the role of tactical combat aircraft pilots in a large mercenary company of the same name. They are part of a world, alternative to ours, that was ravaged by a decade-long Third World War beginning in the late 1990's and ending in 2008.
The world has since begun to rebuild itself by the year 2015, but things have changed greatly, resulting in the rise of large mega-corporations, and private military contractors of great power and resources alongside conventional militaries and governments.

The pilots of Thunderbolt Black are engaged in a shadowy secret war against the largest of the corporations, MultiCorp, which has designs and ideas on how the post-war world should be run.
As part of the 101st Tactical Air Squadron, the 'Black Knights', the player characters engage in numerous operations as part of their mercenary contracts, in an attempt to halt and hinder MultiCorps' operations, and to gather more intelligence and information about their long-term goal, and how it will affect the world at large.

This RP is a reboot of one originally run off-site on a Yahoo mailing list. That game lasted almost ten years, but sadly never reached its' fruition. I am hoping to run a new version on the Guild, and that it will be almost as successful. The key things in keeping the previous version of the game running were a close-knit group of characters with good interpersonal relationships, and backgrounds that were woven into the ongoing events of the game. I hope to re-create this here, and keep the interest of players alive for the long term.

If all of this is interesting enough to you, then perhaps you'd like to create a character. Rules for the game are below, along with the skeletons for character and aircraft sheets.

Game Rules

Character & Aircraft Sheet- Post these in the Characters tab when you're ready, and notify the OOC thread for approval or editing.

If you would like some more information about 'pilot lingo', then the following link is a good reference:

Tactical Brevity Codes
Don't feel like you need to refer to all of them though - they're just there for flavour.

The game is currently open for another player. Eight is the maximum I will allow, and three the minimum. I will be adapting a lot of elements and ideas from the previous plot I ran off-site, but there will be significant changes - so even if you're industrious enough to find the old group and wiki, you won't know exactly what to expect...

No problem, I'll do as you suggest. Thanks for letting me know though.
