The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...

I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.

Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.

Re-bump, because I could still use a few people to keep things moving. Still room for at least 2-3 more people, as I a dropout from the beginning. As I stated previously, we're still in really, really early days IC, and there's not a lot that anyone's missed, and catching up isn't an issue in any way at all. Getting in now would be great, it gives a good chance to get your character really involved. I can't stress enough that I want to make this an exciting, creative, and vibrant game. Please give it a try!
I got a post up - mainly following on from your post, KK, with more of the same. I was debating using the Carl Gustav on the guardpost, but then saw you'd dealt with it using your grenade launcher... I'm eager to fire it at something :P All the same, it was a fun post to write, if not overly eventful. I tried to put some atmosphere in it too.
Scott had kept his head down for most of the barrage - experience had taught him that debris flew a long way, and the strobing blasts of explosions could mess with your eyes and senses quite exquisitely. All the same, he popped his head up more than once to take a look, and couldn't help a somewhat feral grin crossing his features beneath the face-scarf he wore. Men and materiel were being blown to bits, and that was a god-awful thing... but it still looked fucking impressive. And besides, if they didn't want it to happen, then they shouldn't have gotten themselves into trouble. All too soon the fireworks were over, and they were on their feet and moving once more. Jan directed him to move on point, which he answered with a brisk and efficient 'sir' as confirmation, the HK MP5 up and to his shoulder, held with the sling extended to full stretch in the 'SAS style'. Like Jan, he moved between cover. Dust thrown up by the explosions was drifting in the air, and the smell of burning metal, fuel and masonry tinged the fresh, mountain air. Sliding to the ground alongside Jan, he too saw the checkpoint, and briefly met eyes with the Pole. "Right, weapons free," he confirmed again, before sliding out of cover once more to engage the hostiles. The MP5's report was a sharper, shallower rattle compared to the deep voices of Jan's 416 and the G3's and AK's of the tangoes, but its' shots were no less lethal. A man went down, caught through the chest, before Scott ducked into cover behind another tree. As Jan's 40mm round tore the guardpost apart, he used the moment to advance further and lob a frag grenade overarm behind a small ridge and a fallen trunk the hostiles were using for cover, scattering them further. "We've got them running, sir," he reported over the radio, chasing the moving hostiles with another burst from the MP5 before changing mag. "Just have to keep pressing them!"
I don't think you need to do a full one - just a basic outline will be fine. After all, I think we have enough characters at the moment as it is, we don't need another fully developed sheet at this stage. Fill in what details you think he/she needs, and that ought to be fine. And remember to post it in the characters tab and not in the main thread! The WIP can go in there too, since you can just edit it.
Nah, it's my fault for not re-reading things to make sure I hadn't missed anything. As it is, I've got a few ideas for it, and they can come out later anyway, since Blade only just got the drive, and someone (as in, someone else on the Claw who isn't one of us) will have to look at it anyway, so it'll be a while until we hear anything about it in game-time.
Considering I forgot it existed, it's probably not going to be anything that completely changes what we're doing, since I've already laid out the upcoming mission. I'll have to figure out what's on it anyway. More so since it wasn't turned over until after the briefing. If you want to post, I'd go ahead and do it, might as well get a chance to say something in.
Yes, hopefully!
I'll probably use more music on some of the other missions. Some of it will be from the Ace Combat series, other bits I might steal from elsewhere. I like using music to give a sense of atmosphere to what's going on. AC: Infinity is okay, the campaign is disappointingly short at the moment - though they may be releasing more missions - and the multiplayer is good, if a bit repetitive. I drift in and out of it quite a lot. I've been replaying the older games though, and I still love them to bits.
Well, they were the things that inspired the original Thunderbolt Black, and this incarnation too.
Well, it's what I've been planning since the start. I just didn't expect it to take so long to get here...
