The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio
I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly. I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists. I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...
I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.
I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.
I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time. I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.
Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.
Well, I didn't want to drag it out any longer. RP time moves painfully slowly as it is, I kind of want to pick the pace up a bit and get us moving into more of the in-depth plot and excitement from here.
I'll get an IC post up once you've got yours up, Cart - that should be a straight-forward briefing, leading us into heading into the town to follow up on leads and start having a look around. I'll put another OOC up at the same time anyway.
Okay, if you two guys are almost done with your posts, then I'll get a new IC up on Sunday - I have a tabletop RP session tomorrow, and it generally lasts the whole day, so I won't likely have a chance to check the guild then. Plus it gives you both a bit more extra chance to get things up and done.
I don't really have anything else since my last one - I was kind of hoping someone else might speak up as well, since I was trying to start a conversation, but nobody other than Jan actually seems to like speaking to Scott :P
I don't know where he is - he hasn't posted in my other game either. He did say that he would be busy for a while, so I imagine whatever it is that he's up to has taken longer than he expected, and is still keeping him away from posting.
Right, got a post up. It's not a long one, as I'm hoping that people will actually get their replies up. Incubus, we'll just assume Mike's there and being quiet until you're next around to post - thanks for the heads up.
I won't wait for a full round this time - as soon as I get replies (or not) then I'll move on with a briefing and a chance for us to leave the ship and go into the town.
Silverwind looked up as Esailia entered the common area attached to the Roughriders' quarters, nodding in greeting as she sat down. He returned her salute with a casual touch of his fingers to his forehead and gave a slight smile as she spoke up. He chuckled softly at her words, his tail wagging a little in agreement. "Yeah, sure was the right kind of party. I think it helped everyone get a few things outta their systems, and wind down after the op. Although," he added with a frown. "Seems like everyone partied a little too hard, considerin' yer the first person to make it here".
No sooner had the words left his muzzle, than Adrian shuffled zombie-like into the common area. The hare was obviously feeling the effects of last night, and Blade kept half a smirk off of his muzzle at the sight. He nodded in reply to his question about the pastries, and gestured freely to the stacked plate. "Sure are, and help yourself. There's plenty to go around." He let the marksman dig in, and drummed his artificial fingers on the arm of the chair for a few moments as he flicked his eye from door to door of the rest of the squads' rooms, before pushing himself up out of the chair. "Welp, I've waited long enough... you two might want to cover your ears." He crossed to the bulkhead and the attached intercom panel, speaking to the ships' CIC rapidly in a low voice. A moment later he gestured to Es and especially Adrian, with his sensitive hearing, to cover their ears. Uncovering the red emergency alarm button and toggling a switch, he pressed down the button, sending a blaring, shrill alarm tone through the compartment.
