The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...

I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.

Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.

Okay, I'll edit the description of the gadget to suit. I wasn't quite clear ob whether it was augmentation or not.
Glad you like the concept, it's a good change of pace from a purely combat character, and I like talking to people in character anyway.
I'll have a think about a combat specialisation. Not really sure what would fit at the moment.
I ran out of time to do any work on the IC today, but now I've got some other stuff out the way this evening, I will try to get it up and running tomorrow.

I FINALLY finished my character, despite the constant string of interruptions that plague me. In honesty, I'm not sure how pleased I am with them, and I went with a completely different idea than my original, but one that I thought might actually be more use, or be more interesting, and it's something I've never done before. Hopefully he's okay.

Also, I totally missed out on the conversation about guns too. Boo.
I didn't even see the OOC go up :(

Really? I've been around in a couple of other RPs... I guess I am just under the radar.

Well, I was subscribed to your interest check, and it didn't go anywhere, and you didn't pop up in any of the other things I was in, so...
Anyway, I've put your name on the list, so get a sheet up.

I'd think the CODEC team would comprise of NPC's, in order to allow them to be "accessible" when we make our IC posts. It would be tough to contact Intel and Command when we have to wait for a reply from someone.

This. And also that way I don't have to keep funneling information about the plot to people via PM's, I can just have NPC's tell you what the situation is, who you're after, what's going on, what assets are available, etc. It keeps things better contained and more consistent from my perspective.

It also stops people having lengthy conversations with themselves playing multiple characters, and actually talking to each other.
Yeah, and mythical or fictional creatures aren't really possible in the setting either - only existing animals, as they're an engineered species from Earthly animals.
Looks good to me, Adrian is approved. Though I didn't expect he wouldn't be. I'll add him to the OP when I have a chance to do so.

I'll follow along and join once some folks drop (if anyone does) if that'll strain things less; I don't mind waiting around.

Well, I've already added your name to the OP now :P so post your character, and stop being so polite, dammit!

Go Silver! I'll try not to weigh you down with my occasional writer's blocks!

It's not writers blocks so much as people just not posting for no reason, or losing interest. That pisses me off, when we have a group that's raring to go and complimentary on how good the setting is and then drifts off halfway through when things are about to get interesting. More so when I've also planned out character plot for those players too, or for the ongoing game. We'll see what happens, and hopefully it won't go that way this time.

Right, we have pretty much enough people to get started. I don't have time to put the IC up now, as I'm about to go to bed. However, I will try and put it up tomorrow evening (GMT), when I'm back from work.
I'm going to start with everyone arriving to the Landcruiser Parvan's Claw. That will also receive a write-up, along with a short bio of it's primary important personnel, so they're standardized, if I get time.
We'll have a first mission ready to go to pretty much off the bat, a quick-reaction one to help some people in trouble out. That in turn will lead us into bigger, worse things.
For those of you - all three of you, I think by this point - that played previously in the first iteration of the game, there won't be any aliens right off the mark this time, and there might not be any at all, you'll be glad to know. I have much better and more involving ideas.

The rest of the characters don't seem like leader-material. They're either loose cannons or rookies

YAY I DON'T HAVE TO BEAT YOU ALL INTO SHAPE FOR ONCE!

My character is pretty good at following orders, actually, as she was a Special Forces soldier, and a damn good one at that. Generally speaking, you don't get to be in the best of the best if you don't play well with others, or do what you're told xD
"He never follows orders, and he keeps arguing with all the CO's. He's impossible to work with, I'm not even sure why he joined the Army, if he has such an authority problem"
"MY GOD, he's perfect for our elite unit!"
"...what the hell is wrong with you?"
"I'm trying to get fired."
