The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio
I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly. I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists. I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...
I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.
I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.
I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time. I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.
Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.
Scott felt a moment of elation as the MiGs began to retreat, after the flight leaders' aircraft scored a pair more kills on the hostiles, further slashing their numbers. As soon as the remainder ran for the hills, the AWACS cut off transmission before giving them the rest of their orders. Frowning, Scott checked the radio, but could find no fault. The frequency wasn't warbling or hissing with static, so jamming didn't seem likely either. Tilting the Corsair into a turn, his peripheral vision caught a flicker of movement and craned his neck, before swearing loudly and jamming the nose of the jet into a steep diving wing-over. A sleek, dark fighter screamed through the air, hell-bent on interception with their aircraft. "What the hell is that?" he wondered out loud, barelling for the deck as his ears rang with the CO's orders: Survive until help arrives. "Romeo, Roger!" he replied in a terse, urgent voice as he rocked and rolled, throwing the A-7E through every evasive manoeuvre in his repertoire to try and keep the bandits off of his six, and keeping his head on a swivel trying to keep them spotted as he flew.

Might be a Falken, might not be. Haven't decided yet. Could be something completely different. Could even be a XR-45 Cariburn.
Well, if they were described as:
a dark, bizarre looking jet with forward swept wings and what looked similar to a glazed over cockpit
I'm. assuming 'glazed over' means that it's not see-through, similar to how an aircraft looks with a COFFIN system. It could be a number of things, especially from Ace Combat. Or it could be something else altogether, as our dear GM says - there's no reason he can't introduce new aircraft, after all. I'd be doing the same in his place to keep us all guessing, and to write my own story.
Just about to make a post - I'm going to assume that these aircraft aren't actually invisible, going by the last GM post, and it's just that they couldn't be easily seen. However, if they are supposed to have some kind of optical camouflage or something, then I'll edit my post as needed.

I totally didn't just stumble upon this Silver. I totally am not interested in re-joining this awesome RP o 3o
Well, you dropped out of the last one, so I didn't think you'd be interested in this one. Spycrab has just dropped out, but really I'm kind of groaning under the weight of players at the moment. You're welcome to hang around and see if anyone else drops out though.

So... I was playing state of decay, right? And I thought about making an RP based off of it.. With Anthro optional capabilities. Should Carty go through with this? An Anthro zombie survival RP?
You're welcome to go through with it - I've no doubt that you'll get people who want to join up, but I'll likely give it a miss. Zombies are kind of... overdone, in my opinion. Especially when people keep quoting World War Z like it's holy scripture, and all zombie mythology has sprung from it and IT'S THE RULES or something. Or worse, when people think that the 'Zombie Apocalypse' is actually going to happen...

Oracle is busy right now. Please check back later. :P
Okay, fine.
I'll get another post up when someone else has. Don't want to be leaping right in all the time, and I think I'd like to leave it a little this time around.
Blade addressed Payne as the younger canid anxiously enquired about the helo. "The chopper is inbound, it'll be on the deck shortly. Captain Garrett's arranged an exercise for the flight ops crew to do a quick turnaround after its' landed to prep it to go right back out on another sortie. Good practice in case we need to do it actively. The medium lift choppers' already in the hangar, so if the worst comes to the worst - an' it ain't lookin' likely to - then there's gonna be somethin' fer air support. So, get to it and sign yer gear out and get prepped." His PADD bleeped insistently at him, and the fox checked it over, nodding as he scanned the message. "An' there ya go - yer whirly-bird is on the pad now, bein' unloaded and prepped fer a new sortie".
Romeo's relief was palpable as Yellow sliced in behind the Corsair and decoyed the missile off of his six. As she did, he reacted rapidly, slamming the stubby ground-attack jet into a hard bank to the right, dumping lift and speed to roll hard around and reverse course. The Fulcrum on his six had broke hard to avoid the MiG-23 as Natasha had slashed across its' path, and weaved to come onto the tail of the yellow-squadron patterned Flogger. His loop bought him in on the '29's tail, and he flicked his fire selector to GUN and called out over the radio as he pulled the trigger; "Guns, guns, guns". The floor beneath his boots vibrated as the Vulcan fired in a brief blurt of firepower, the 20mm shells stitching a line of fire across the rear quarter of the MiG. Then the contact was over, as the MiG rocketed past, and he soared upward, joining on Yellow's wing. "Yellow, thanks for the save, that was some great flying. I owe you one".
Scott was exhilarated as he saw the SDM connect with the MiG-29, a shower of flame and debris erupting from the hit on the twin-tailed, twin-engined Fulcrum. He caught sight of a parachute opening below and gave a momentary thought of relief that the enemy pilot had escaped the destruction of his aircraft, before turning his head back to the game. One of the MiG's appeared to be bugging out, and he toggled the transmit switch on his throttle. "AWACs, this is Romeo. One bandit appears to be RTB and no factor. Looks like one of the enemy pilots ejected too, can we get SAR to the area to pick 'em up, over?" Turning the Corsair, he slid into a position above and behind the F-5. "Mold, your tail's clear. Glad to be of assistance. That one's free, over". Banking slightly hard left into a turn to belly-check the plane, he slid the pugnacious little ground-attacker into another slicing turn to bring his nose back in-line with the enemy formation, and fed power to the jet's engines again as the hostiles were back on the nose. Signalling with hand movements and taking a lead position with the Tiger, he cut hard across the tail of one of the bandits, diving in from on-high to maximise his closing rate and store of power. The SDM tone sounded again, and he launched without hesitation. However, this pilot was more alert, and a spread of flares burst from the MiG as it cut away into a powerful break. The harsh buzz of an enemy lockon sounded in his ears, and he mirrored his targets' move against the bandit who'd snuck up on his six. Flares blossomed from the A-7E as he dived and rolled, pulling hard to break the contact, huffing and breathing hard into his mask, the smell of rubber and fear filling his nose and mouth, and the jarring growl of the locked-on missile battering his ears as the horizon danced outside the canopy, spiralling between up and down as he pushed the SLUF through every move he knew. Small particles of dirt and miscellaneous objects became momentarily floating as the G's spun wildly along with his stomach. The RWR buzz howled in his ears, and his vision tunnelled into grey as he desperately tried to avoid the MiG gunning for his tail. Vapour streamed from the A-7's wingtips as he sliced through the air in snap-rolling moves, the jets' aluminium skin gleaming under the sunlight. Would the next moment bring the explosive concussion that had him reaching for the handle between his knees? Would he even feel it? Would the lock break, or would one of his new comrades bring down the Fulcrum? His mind whirled with thoughts bubbling under the surface as he pulled yet another break.
