The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...

I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.

Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.

From an Corsair II to an Intruder? I think someone may be a Dale Brown fan.

Are you sure you don't mean Mr. Stephen Coonts, rather than Dale Brown? (though I am a fan of his stuff too!)
Dale Brown was all about the Heavy bombers (at least in his early books), whereas Coonts is a Navy Veteran, and a lot of his novels feature or mention the Intruder.
I like both, so you're right on both counts though ^^
I've always been a fan of the 'tin tadpole'
A-6 you say? Oooooooooh. Happy face :D

What? lol sorry you must of posted right before I did, that was directed at the post before yours.

Yeah, I didn't see the other posts after your previous one.

Not true, war dives economy because of increased production and more jobs. The cold war acctully bad for our economy because it wasn't an open war.

I didn't say it was good for the economy...? I'm not really sure where you got the idea I said it was.

You know those cool eye pieces in the modern warfare games...those are real as well btw XD and so are the rods of god(I think that is what they are called in the game) was a project initiated during the cold war, it was only shut down cause the cold war ended. But they would of worked as they did in the games...that is the real scary thing.

But the BAE ENVG(D) still doesn't look like a pair of Oakley Dust Goggles.

And the other link simply says that development is beginning, and there is no actual hardware for a camera/device/etc of that size so far.

What cool eye pieces are you referring to in the Modern Warfare games? I haven't played the latest one. The most recent one I've played is Modern Warfare 3.

And I mentioned satellite weapons in the opening post as part of the background. I know very well that they were initiated as part of the Star Wars Space Defence Initiative (SDI), which was abandoned due to diplomatic pressure as well as the end of the Cold War, and the fact that a lot of money was being injected for very little tangible return.

Anyway, all that aside, I point you to the rules in my opening post.

Silverwind Blade is the GM. Other players are free to make suggestions and recommendations, but the GM has final say on all plot and rules related decisions.

I've already said I'd like you to change your sheet for regular night-vision goggles. Please do it.
Your character is a Navy SEAL, and may use Panoramic NVG's,, but that's it.

If you don't like it, then don't play.
Cool cool.
I will update my 'tracker' shortly too, as I realized I haven't for a bit.
When will we get some money to buy new planes, and any hints on what will be available. Or how much it'll cost.

Big NVG's are cool. As you can see here...

>.> ummm we have technology now days that can make NV that small....it's just to expensive to put into production.

Please show me evidence of this, and I will let you have the goggles.
I have never, ever, heard or seen any evidence or proof that NVG's could be made this small or sleek.
Quite frankly, I wasn't really looking for a discussion - I want you to change them to regular NVG's, or take them off of your character sheet. I don't like them, and they don't fit the feel or mood I'm looking for in my game world.

I hate to be a bother, but if it's posted from Tuesday morning to Thursday evening, I'll have no way of responding, as not only am I on a trip to the south of France for Latin class, my laptop will finally be getting repairs after a catastrophic fan incident half a year ago. Hope this doesn't pose too much of a problem!

Not a problem at all - you've let me know, so it's no problem. I won't be pushing things to move too quickly anyway, so it's not likely you'll miss too much.
No problems, glad it was okay. Looking forward to getting back into the air, and also to speak to some of the other pilots between a mission soon - this one was a quick turnaround.
Scott made his way out to the tarmac on schedule, and was surprised to see three new aircraft in the formation alongside the familiar shapes of the planes he'd flown with previously. Two J35 Drakens in striking digital camouflage schemes were parked up alongside the other aircraft, pilots aboard and going through their checks. The other craft he didn't recognise was an F-16 - until on closer inspection, he realized that the pilot was Miku. Evidently her damaged Corsair had been removed to repairs, and the F-16 was an urgent replacement to allow the mission to be flown.
Making his way to his own aircraft, he scaled the cockpit ladder and allowed the ground crew to help him strap in and pass his helmet, before he ran through the pre-flight checks. Everything was green, and he gave a thumbs up to the crew chief as the engine started with its' familiar vacuum cleaner whine. Another crewman removed all the safety tags and pins from the fighters' ordnance and other systems, before holding them up for him to see. He nodded and gave a thumbs-up of understanding, before powering the canopy closed and retracting the ladder. Exchanging the right codes and checks with the tower, he fed power to the engine and the sound changed, becoming less of a scream, and more of a roar as the Corsair began to roll for the runway.
