Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly. I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists. I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...
I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.
I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.
I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time. I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.
Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.

Music is definitely always a good idea. I also find that watching movies, reading books, or playing games that are related to the subject (i.e. aerial combat and Ace Combat) inspire me, as that's where the interest came from in the first place.
Scott's character sheet has been edited, following a discussion with Rafale. He's got a bit of a different background, and is a fair bit older now too.
Yeah, that sounds like it would be the best way for things to flow, and the most straightforward as well. I figured as the time went, Bryan woke up and had a short conversation with your character, and then Rafales' character turned up and we both react to his arrival

Near to Cindy's position, a trucks' engine grumbled along a road, and gears ground as it lurched along a pitted and rutted jungle dirt track. There was a loud BANG followed by clattering of mechanical parts and the engine cutting out - heard too, across to where Kyle had set up his camp - and the vehicle ground to a halt. The tailgate dropped on the cargo vehicle, and the NWA soldiers riding the truck hopped down, while those in the cab did likewise. "What's the delay?" the officer riding up front asked, as one of the soldiers examined the engine. "Why have we stopped now? We need to get the cargo off this island, especially if there's someone running around here and they've captured those code boxes. Black Jewel can't be bought into operation without the cargo." "I know, sir," replied the soldier examining the engine. "This'll take a while to repair - and that's if we've got the parts. I'll get to work-" "Just do it," replied the officer with disgust, before signalling to the others to form a perimeter. A voice from in back of the truck spoke up. "Where are we? Why have we stopped?" "Shut up," replied the officer curtly to the female voice. "Sit still and be quiet Doctor DeWinter. And don't make any trouble". The officer stood in front of the trucks' tailgate, his arms folded, as he spoke into his radio, advising command of his situation. The rest of the patrol began to spread out and cover the truck from all approaches, while the men worked to repair it.
Bryan jumped and stirred. Looking around in a panic for a moment, he slowly adjusted to the situation and saw the drone again, and then the woman a short way behind. Blinking rapidly, his memory came back and he looked down at his arm. "Who are you?" he said after a moment. "Did... you fix my arm? Is this your robot?" He asked, pressing one hand to his forehead and wincing, before looking at Alika again.

Holy crap Blackwolf, you managed to suck your own character's dick and, for dick sucking purposes, change the time to evening/night so he can go all super commando on forgettable NWA soldiers that have the self preservation skills that of stormtroopers! All of this done, of course, with no real plot advancement whatsoever! (I jest I jest).... or not.....Keeping ya guessin ;)

That was more than a little bit self-indulgent. Okay guys, the rest of us can just set up camp in the forest and live out the rest of the war in peace while Blackwolf kills the NWA and rebuilds civilization. Give us a call when you're done, dude. Having him have more trouble engaging an entire island full of soldiers would've been more interesting. Or having him actually have some internal monologue about where he's been, what he's done, or some kind of emotion other than 'kill a bunch of guys' would've less boring than 'kill a bunch of guys' though. Also, this island is tiny - take a look at the maps in the OP on this thread. And if our 'characters are doing whatever' (or roleplaying as it's commonly known) surely it's better to have your character bump into them 'doing whatever' than have him murder his way around the jungle on his own?
