The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...

I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.

Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.

On a completely different note, I don't know how many of you have PS3's or PSN accounts, but the European release date for Ace Combat: Infinity has been announced for the 28th of May. North America hasn't been announced yet, but I can't imagine it'll be much further behind.
When it comes out, I'm probably going to get it, since it's more Ace Combat. If any of you are on there, it'd be good to team up for some co-op missions!

I think my character is being ignored in radio communications :(

Scott would reply, but he's trying not to die. Plus I'm waiting for a reply to my previous messages IC at the moment, and I feel like posting again would be a bit too much right now.

Well, it seems that you'll have more time than expected to post. I'm writing this on my phone as the power is out and might not be back until tomorrow, but I'll have classes so the earliest will be tomorrow evening...Boy, first the phone, now the power... the god of electricity and all things super-conductors hates me today.

I was beginning to worry that the IC was just going to stagnate. I thought there'd be a bunch of posts once we got the site back, but instead it's been really quiet.
Seeing Mike press his advantage and another volley of Kradis' rockets auger in, Blade pressed the attack on his end too. The extra firepower would reduce some of the heat on Raisa, and allow Nawlin to take out the APC. The remainder of the vehicles in the convoy that were still armed and able to fight back were still attempting to train their weapons on the GEARs attacking them, but every fresh attack whittle the already small number further.
Like Mike, he charge forward, but not before throwing out a good cloud of smoke and chaff as decoys to mask his approach, and changing direction and heading multiple times. The autcocannon rifle clamped tight in the GEARs' hands thrummed and chattered as he ran, the miniguns mounted in the bipedal machines' head joining in as he swept their withering fire across the outlines of dismounted infantry. Simulated kill-markers popped up as their 'net-linked equipment locked them out as 'killed'.
The rounds fired from the large autocannon hit square, and another pair of light utility vehicles disappeared off the screen. The APC went down next, and Blade slowed down, stalking the Harlock along the line of the convoy, like an angry giant. No further markers popped up, and he snapped words into the comm channel.
"All targets eliminated. Form up and double-time to the recon unit. We'll gather at their position and then prep for the second stage of the op, the assault on the hostile stronghold".
Switching channels, he toggled into Myrinas' freak, and spoke in short, concise words, cognizant of the fact she and her team were engaged in combat.
"Sitrep? Tangoes here are down, moving to your position to support, over".
A large number of people who are popular for singing come from Wales. I would point out, in advance and to make things clear I do not necessarily personally like their singing or agree with why they are popular, but they're popular nonetheless - Tom Jones, Catatonia, the Go Compare man, Shirley Bassey, Charlotte Church, Bonnie Tyler, Aled Jone, Katherine Jenkins. The Manic Street Preachers, Skindred, Feeder, Funeral For A Friend and loads of others are also from Wales. It's like where we people in the UK farm all of our musicians.
I'll get one up after those then, as I'm going to be away tonight until tomorrow afternoon!
I'd move things on, but I need some of the others to post first ><
I like it! The holographic controls and readouts are especially like the GEARs-verse. That stuff is everywhere xD

Because if it isn't romance, it's a gunfight. Why limit yourself to 'army of two' against the world?-See also: USMC rules of gunfighting.

Actually, dude, even that would be a change from what I keep seeing o.0
And while I do see your point, non-romantic pair ups of any kind are popular for stories - buddy-cop duos are the first one I can think of, as are 'hero and sidekick' combinations too (Batman and Robin, the Doctor and companion, etc). While it might not be 'tactically sound' from a realism point of view, in terms of storytelling and fiction it's very popular and common to have a non-romantic pair of characters. And it doesn't necessarily need to be super-realistic all the time anyway.
But that kind of plot doesn't seem to be something popular, or at least easy to find in the 1x1 forum.

A lot of family pairings for starters, and then that generic sets of pairings with no plots.

This is what I see, from just looking at the titles, and even at the posts - 'X seeking Y, no Z'
Not anything at all to do with what's being played, what the story is, what the plot is, or anything. And the post is just a list of preferences for 'pairings' rather than any kind of ideas about story, plot, character or anything else.
Maybe I'm just giving too much thought to what I consider roleplay compared to what someone else does.

Don't know what you guys are talkin 'bout. I'm captivated by that Intruder o 3o

I had to get the Sea Eagles under the wings 'specially. I'm still not over happy with it, but that's mainly due to the kit itself, than my building of it. And also because I'd like to build another Intruder in another scheme too... if I had the space to display it, anyway.

Dat Terminator, man. I think I'm in love.

That's the plane of an enemy (ish) ace from the RP I run. It was a bitch to build, and, sadly, has been smashed by a shelf falling off the wall on top of it. But it gives me an excuse to track down a better quality Flanker/Terminator/Etc kit, if possible.

And no, no-one has missed anything, becase the Guild has been down for the last few days. Hopefully once people realise it's back, we'll get posts going again.
Here's the link to my Photobucket album. There aren't any descriptions, as I tend to just use my Photobucket as a store for uploading files to my build threads on a modelling forum I'm on.

The majority of the non-modified (or at least, non-extensively modified) ones are from my off-site RP, Thunderbolt Black. I printed my own decals for them, and built the aircraft as per the descriptions for each players' aircraft.
The others are either creations from my own imagination, or are from the novel I'm writing.

EDIT: Better album links here, as they have descriptions.
