@actraiserthereturned if you want to split that island to the north of your claim it might make for an interesting rp..
Quite a creation story you've got there.

If this gets any traction, I will write some more.
Ok first I love your ideas Legion02! I don't think a fully formed AI race fits into the dirty-sci-fi feel of FACTION however. What I propose is this:

Long before Man got to Mars and started terraforming a sentient race of aliens did in fact exist on Mars. They built civilizations 'neath the surface because of the atmospheric conditions-but built one hell of a computer system to regulate environmental conditions, agricultural processes and of course mining. Now these aliens died way before civilization arose on earth so almost all trace of them is gone. But they left their computers behind..Somewhere in the alien code an AI began to form. Nobody is sure how or if the aliens meant to develop AI but nonetheless something popped up and survived whatever cataclysm destroyed the original Martians.

The idea was simple. To make robot soldiers but there are a few problems with that. For one they have to be 'human enough' to understand orders & make tactics on the field. But they cannot be too much human or they will start thinking about the unusefull stuff like morality and right & wrong.
Legion02

When it first came into contact with/noticed human networks it remained undetected and has managed to learn alot about humans. It has been working on how to build a more 'human' looking sentient unit for hundreds of years before it makes official contact with humans.

Anyways that's what I'm thinking for your 'AI' race. We would have to work out the nuances of the alien species (because the original programming would be greatly influenced by the species) and work that in somehow too. And figure out what they ultimately want on mars. More resources to build more units? Total destruction? Figure out what the heck happened to the original Martians?
Interested...I think? I need more info :) I'll have to wait. (Can I be a dinosaur?)
I'll probably go forward and make an entire AI 'race'.

Tell me more..
I don't see anything wrong with the old one. Can you think of anything?
So....OOC?
Very interested. Very interesting. Is the a vampire remnants available?

This is just a general interest check to see if people are interested in this sort of genre. Not much of the world is built yet. If you have an idea post it here. We can work out the details. If enough interest is gathered I will spend some time on world-building. Thanks for taking a look!
Dropping by, expressing interest. I'm thinking of either a southern gentlemen-in over his head type or an Eastern-European transplant chasing the killer of his/her family. Maybe a native American Inuit or Navajo...not sure. This idea is solid though..
Hello! This looks really interesting and I'd love to get involved. I'd be interested in creating a group somewhat inspired by the bizarre and sometimes grotesque mythology of rivers and seas. It would be a group of migratory traders who operate along the waterways, living in junky steam-powered houseboats and having deep connections to the water. Some are honest fisherman, some are opportunistic smugglers and most are just trying survive. They face many challenges - Some are tangible, such as the creatures that emerge from the murky depths of the rivers and target their water crafts. Others would be less tangible, in the form of blatant discrimination and suspicion from those who see them as river gypsies. They would have their own culture based on river trade, including their own superstitions, religions, rituals and traditions. Though their community is insular and secretive by nature, there are some who seek independence and opportunity outside of it's confines. Anyways, the idea isn't completely fleshed out yet, but let me know if this fits in with what your premise!

Not sure if a the river-folk type fits into a desert wasteland setting. Maybe you could make rail-roving water worshipers ala MADMAX? They trade with settlements and know the wastes, serve as guides/trackers, worship strange and ancient gods...Something to think about.
