"I got the impression you wanted a low profile”

"Mostly from the humans of the Cathedral, which I think we managed just fine... " Serphia would mutter, not quite wanting to admit that things may not have gone exactly as she might have hoped it would.

Indeed, while they may have successfully evaded the notice of the church, they were nonetheless gathering attention. Mostly Serphia herself, but some of the bystanders passing over the bridge would stop to look down and notice Rithrynn and Aleena's futile attempts at cleaning themselves beneath the bridge.

"You are probably right about your friend. There is no point waiting around. GIRLS!" Serphia said to Kathlin before turning about and shouting out loudly to the rest of the sentinels.
"Form up on me, we're moving out!"

It did not take long for the rest of the sentinels to quickly scurry up the stairs and arrive behind Serphia, ready to head out. Although whether intentionally or not, but most likely the former, most of the sentinels gave Aleena and Rithrynn a wide berth! The stench of sewage could be smelled all the way to the front, something which made Serphia wrinkle her nose.

Fortunately, although they hadn't managed to escape notice of the bystanders, there weren't that many around this early in the morning.

With a single motion with her hand, Serphia ordered the rest of her sentinels in a quick march back towards the mage district and the mansion. Kathlin, with her shorter legs, might have found herself having to almost run just to keep up with the elves as they marched through the streets.

"Move fast, girls. Once we arrive back at the mansion, a hot meal and bath will be promised to everyone!"

While they were walking however, Ashira's attention would be mostly fixed on Sharon, the Sentinel listening intently to what the High Elf had to say while studying him with great interest.

"She sounds like a great girl, but how do you think she compares to that of a real Night Elven woman?" Ashira would inquire, smiling slyly down at Sharon while gently poking him with a finger.

When "Ashira" took the initative of hitting Malizia over the head, Delilah's ire seemed to disappear a bit, and the sentinel quickly gave Lisa-Ashira a nod of approval at the action!

But hitting Draenei was one thing. It was easy, straightforward, simple. What was none of those things would be the awkward conversation that was taking place outside of the gate, especially with the added arrival of Liaena and the odd behavior of the rest of her sisters. Delilah found herself spending half her time simply scratching the back of her ear, trying to make sense of it all!

"By Elune, the mission must have been rough on them or something!"

It was not until Silje-Serphia's mood suddenly grew darker and the "Captain" spoke to her in Darnassian that Delilah's ears would finally perk up, and she'd quickly open the gate and lead them on through.

"Ohh, yes, of course mistress! Right this way please!"

"She never usually calls me just 'Sentinel'... what gives?"

Having opened the gate and as they were matching through the front garden, Delilah would turn to look up towards her "Captain" while starting to explain, occasionally changing glances between her, "Rithrynn" and Liaena.

"We've been anxious for your arrival a long time now! Some of the girls were almost worried something had happened, but I of course never doubted you! Most of them are still incapacitated to various degrees, the festivities not having been gentle." Delilah would explain as they walked towards the main door, before also throwing a glance at "Rithrynn" again.
"And, I think Naliyah has been getting pretty bored without Rithrynn around, if you know what I mean, mistress... "
“Zara know’s telepathy, watch yourself or we are going to have two grand psychers turning us into mulch for their deamons.”

"Why should I be worried?" Adrianne turned to look back at Aviza with a cheerful smile.
"Her abilities makes me feel so much more safer that there are no imperial spies amidst our ranks. We don't need that filth running around here. The night is ours!"

Adrianne simply chuckled, not seeming the least bit worried compared to Aviza. To hear from Aviza that Zara was in fact a telepath was no surprise for Adrianne.

She did not worry much about Zara's telepathic abilities. Adrianne was an experienced psyker herself, and had spent her life shielding her mind from the influence of daemons and chaos. Some would say half a psyker's entire existence revolved around turning their minds into impenetrable fortresses of mental fortitude, lest they slip and be forever lost.

Glancing over at Zara with a smile, Adrianne suspected that Zara already knew that she herself was a psyker. While a telepath might not be able to pierce her mind without any great exertion, a telepath could nonetheless notice the mental barrier around her that was so common with psykers.

"I don't think we three are the only psykers in this party. Knowing cults, as much as one fourth of the other guests in this room might have psychic abilities."

She knew that much about cults. Having psychic powers was often seen as a gift within chaos cults, and members with such powers typically rose up the ranks with greater ease than their mundane peers, seen as having a greater connection to the warp; and by extension, their deities of worship.

“Elleynah, would you join me for a moment, I need some fresh air as well.”

"What, already?" Adrianne asked with a frown as she looked up at Aviza, already in the process of examining a purple alien steak of some kind.
"I haven't even taken the first bite! ... oh well, fine. But let's make it quick. I'm hungry!"

Adrianne said somewhat begrudgingly as she got up from her chair and moved to follow Aviza.

Why Aviza was more uncomfortable was not much of a mystery. Adrianne suspected that next to herself, Aviza might appear like an open book to any advanced telepath. To think about what kind of knowledge any psyker at the party could potentially excavate from Aviza was worrisome to say the least!

As they had walked a little further away, Adrianne would lean in to talk.

"So... what kind of trip do you want to take?"
While most of the Sentinels had been initially startled when Aleena had suddenly been grabbed and pulled into the murky water by a pair of dark, large tentacles, the mood would eventually shift to that of a more light hearted one as Aleena was spat back onshore, with some of the Sentinel snickering quietly at Sharon's comment though they would never admit it.

Among the few who weren't smiling was Aleena herself, who simply sat on the sidewalk; looking both disgusted and surprised as she merely stared blankly back at the water!

"Well, that's our Aleena... she does go do stupid things and somehow survive." Ashira would comment with a slight snicker at Sharon's comment, looking down at the flabbergasted Aleena below.

Eventually however, the initial motions would wear off, and Aleena would get a new look on her face as her eyes grew more clear, a look that was one of pure, primeval rage and a desire for righteous murder!

"I HAVE HAD IT!" She would suddenly exclaim as she shot to her feet, now brandishing her sword and long dagger in a dual wield stance, slicing the razor sharp blades against oneanother to the point they generated sparks in the air!
"ONE OCTOPI FILLET COMING RIGHT UP, GIRLS! I'LL TURN THIS SLUDGE-DWELLING JELLYFISH INTO A THOUSAND FISH SIZED PIECES!"

Aleena said, walking towards the edge as if she was planning to jump right in whilst brandishing her weapons. She wouldn't get far however before Lithrielle would intervene, throwing herself around Aleena and pulling her backwards.

"No, wait, it's not worth it, Aleena!"

"AARGHH! DO NOT COME BETWEEN THE HUNTRESS AND HER PRAY! I DEMAND THE RIGHT TO KILL THE BEAST!" Aleena roared as she waved her swords, struggling against Lithrielle's grip. It wouldn't be until Rithrynnn arrived to help Lithrielle pull Aleena away from the edge that the two finally succeeded in dragging the furious Night Elf with them!

"Stop playing with the native marine life, girls!" Serphia's voice could suddenly be heard across the sewer as she appeared around the next corner and threw her sentinels an impatient look.

It was enough to make the rest of the Sentinels quickly tear their eyes off the pool and the mysterious squid living in it, to all hurry after their Captain!

... all except Aleena, whom had to be constrained by at least three other elves as she was pulled after the party!

After a while of trekking through the sewer however, they would eventually reach a small iron gate beneath one of the numerous bridges spanning the canal of Stormwind. Kicking the door out, the party was relieved as they walked out into the fresh morning air of the city. Or well, at least out from the stinky air of the sewer to the less-stinky air of the canal!

"Let us NEVER take the sewer ever again... " Rithrynn muttered with a defeated look on her face, grimacing as she dared to sniff her shoulder.

Serphia looked around, noticing how some of her girls still seemed to carry the stench of the sewer even out into the city as they left the underground behind. Turning to her sisters, she immediately pointed at them.

"I'll not have you walk around in the city smelling like that! Take a quick bath in the canal while we wait for our missing human." Serphia ordered, motioning towards the water of the canal. Indeed, it may not be the cleanest water, but it was still certainly a large improvement over sewage that they had waddled through earlier, and some of them even bathed it!

Turning to look towards Kathlin, Serphia motioned for her the human to follow her as she walked up the steps towards the bridge, looking out across the streets.

"This is one of the bridges leading to our district. Do you think we'll see your crazy alchemist friend that Rithrynn calls "Li" if we stick around?" She asked, turning to look down at the smaller human next to her.

Standing not far behind Serphia and Kathlin would be Ashira, overhearing some of the conversation. Standing behind the wall along the stairs to the street, she would lean against it and throw the tiny High Elf on her shoulder a sly smile.

"Sooo, this 'Li' human, how well do you know her?" Ashira would inquire, leaning her head slightly as she looked at Sharon with a curious smirk.

Outside of the gate, when she saw the troop of chevalier-Night Elves, the gate Watcher Delilah would quickly assume an even stricter stance when she spotted Serphia leading them.

"Mistress, you're back!"

"Hiiii there! Can you let us in?"

" ... what?"

Silje-Serphia's surprising tone had left Delilah completely surprised, the Sentinel simply frozen in her salute motion and merely staring up at her Captain with an obvious 'WTF' look on her face!

"OFH! Uh, I mean... I demand that you let me in right now, Sentinel!"

"What!" Delilah exclaimed, but not so much in response to what Serphia was saying, but to when she noticed the prisoner behind Serphia doing what seemed like nudging her, and the Captain did seemingly nothing in retaliation for the slight!

"Don't you dare hit Mistress like that, squidface! I will teach you some manners, Den'dweah!" Delilah exclaimed, furious on the person she thought to be Serphia's behalf, as she pushed herself past the 'Captain' and the nearest chevalier-elf towards the tied up Malizia.
We usually do pretty well, and all the ranked matches - which is where the points come from - are appointed judges anyway. so that salt level can be pretty damn high, it doesn't make a difference.

And since, unlike HoR, the parties don't need to validate it, we avoid the common 'nah, I ain't validating nothing' issue that arose there.

Nutts is right though, it's basically all about tactics in the fight, and getting your opponent in a position where, logically, they can't escape even with the use of their powers and whatnot.

For some reason, that example reminds me of Tic-Tack-Toe, and how prone that game is to potentially endless stalemates.

Something to keep in mind, probably stating the obvious, is that Arena Scores aren't like Levels in a Pokemon battle. So a Lv5 Pikachu vs a Lv100 MewTwo isn't the same as two players with different scores. By that I mean that just cause someone has a high doesn't mean that they are all powerful and mighty where others can't touch them. It could just mean that they are overly active and cause they've been in 10 battles to your 1, they have a chance to have 10 times more winnings than yourself. :)

So in a years time when a newbie looks at the Arena section and sees these high scores, they shouldn't look at it in a way that is "I'm not good enough to battle them", but more, "That person has had a lot more experience in this type of roleplaying"

I was thinking less about their power level, and more about their ego level xD

@RithyIt's more a case of etiquette.

Lets say you go for a stab and you're parried, you're not going to be able to be in a suitable position to make a follow up move. A good writer will realise that they are in a loosing fight and won't pull a random move out of left field to overpower their opponent. After a while both you and the opponent will realise who's character is outperforming or has a few moves left to use, and by then you should be able to write a good finale.

It's much like normal RPs. You don't go into every situation and beat down the biggest guys you can with ease. You have to loose some in order to have a better story.

I figured as much. That's usually how it goes in normal RPs as well from my experience. Fights between characters is usually a dodgy thing, and are usually only really good if both of the writers are on the same wavelength and haven't embedded their RL egos into their avatars :P

Still though, I see some people go around with arena scores. The fact that scores are displayed openly makes me wonder if it doesn't increase the salt level!
How is it actually possible to win a purely text based RP anyway?

Sounds like the only way to win is to write so well that your opponent is like "wooow, i'm totally giving this match to you and not being an ass and stretching this out into ad infinitum" xD

I haven't played it, but based on my general RP experience, I have a hard time imagining how a fight between two equally stubborn and competitively-oriented participants could EVER be resolved :o
@Rithy...ITS NOT A HAMMER?! Q~Q No hammer time puns....And apparently in the tabletop game a Hierophant can crank out some major AoE damage versus heretical and Daemonic enemies, reminds me of a D&D Cleric kinda.

Edit: Totally forgot that the high-ranking religious members of the Imperium got special perks. Need to keep myself up to date on this series.

Random note: My interest began in reading a book about the Battle for Hive Helsreach.

And here I am, not having read a SINGLE Warhammer 40K book xD
Well then, Stukov is going to justify this as why he can't go to nice parties. I smell violence in the immediate future.

It's the grim dark future; no party is ever complete without someone getting murderized by bolter fire :P

@Rithy That fucking Hierophant hammer is fantastic. I wonder how modded that could be? Considering the assortment of enchantments and techy stuff the Imperium has.

It looks more like a staff to me, but given its shape, I can see how it can double as a hammah ^_^

I see no shortage of mods available that thing. It's also an ecclesiastical weapon, meaning you get access to all sorts of crazy, holy warrior-priest mods in addition to all the normal mundane mods that can be provided by the mechanicus!

I do believe priests have added defense vs the warp and psykers, meaning that unlike Aviza, you wouldn't be totally boned if I decided to introduce an enemy psyker specialized in telepathy xD
that collab post will be up soon, just letting you guys know in advance ^_^

also, @Shadowman215, hierophants and banishers are essentially badasses!

"Eeeeewww!"

It was the only word that came out of Rithrynn's mouth after she had fallen into the disgusting river of shit.

Covered from top to toe with what she wouldn't even dare think about, she slowly made her way towards the ledge to pull herself up. She was mad, and it was obvious in the way she gave Aleena the stink eye all the way.

She wanted to start a fight, but 1. They were in a river of shit. And 2, that would mean touching Aleena, who also smelled! Though exactly how 2 could make things any worse was debatable...

"What?!" The moment Sharon would teleport onto the shoulder of Ashira, the Sentinel would spin around with her sword at the ready as soon as she noticed the slight, blue flash in the corner of her eyes. But when she finally noticed the tiny High Elf sitting on her shoulder, the expression on the green haired sentinel's face would soon turn into a royal 'WTF' look.

"Don't worry, miss. I'll be like a shadow."

" ... "

Ashira just looked at him. She did not say anything, but there was not any look of dislike or apprehension in her face. In fact, there seemed to be a lot of different emotions running around on the surface, as she spent most of her time merely studying Sharon while also pretending not to by looking forward. While mostly confused, she almost seemed excited as well, as if wanting to say something but trying to contain it.

"ARE ... well, uh, my name is Ashira."

As they reached the ledge after a session of complaining and disgusted facial expressions, Aleena was the first person to put her hands over the ledge and begin to pull herself up. But halfway on the way to do so, Rithrynn would suddenly reach past her with her arm and place her hand on Aleena's face; the Sentinel immediately cursing when one of Rithrynn's sewage-caked fingers incidentally reached her mouth; before Rithrynn shoved her right back into the sewer as she climbed up the ledge herself.

When she eventually noticed Sharon as the small High Elf spoke to her, Rithrynn merely glared at him.

Normally, she'd be both relieved and happy to find him. That was not the case now however, with the Night Elf being covered with shit! Instead, she merely gave him a nod of acknowledgement as she placed herself next to Kathlin and the other elf.

"Don't you have a spell for this?" Rithrynn eventually inquired, motioning down towards her body and the sewage that now covered it!

In the meantime, after Sharon had mentioned his desire of riding on Ashira's shoulder instead, the Sentinel would look over Kathlin (who was between them) at Rithrynn from behind the High Elf on her epaulet, motioning at the tiny High Elf and giving Rithrynn a silent 'LOOK AT WHO LIKES ME MORE!' expression of triumph when Sharon wasn't watching, causing Rithrynn's own expression to grow very dark all of a sudden!
