Kosara gave Lizbeth a big smile in return. Their interactions weren’t the longest in general, but she liked the younger woman quite a bit and wanted to be great friends with her! Still she kept respectable distance and politeness since the… barrel incident. Yes, a bit of a shocker for Kosara to learn back then, but learn she did. Though it also made her consider stories of people bathing in the rivers in these parts in the summer hot months. Did it mean they bathed with their clothes on or something? She supposed she’d learn once she had a chance to experience a local summer properly and try to enjoy it, but that was quite a few months away. For now they had things to do and hopefully evils to be stopped before it got that far. Yes, Kosara was a woman with a lot of things to do in the upcoming days… her and everybody in the general geographic area. These things rarely only involved adventurers after all.

On the topic of adventures, V wasn’t especially informative, making the tiefling woman raise a single trimmed white eyebrow at her in questioning manner. Then she went ahead and poured alcohol in her tea, much to the horror of the tiefling. Her eyes were jumping widely between the warrior and the bard with a face clearly expression horrified realization.’ There are two of them now! It’s contagious!’ Kosara’s hands were experiencing mild twitching of her fingers as she debated hitting both of them with lesser restoration right away.

“Scary dreams what now?” Apparently Kathryn had a good distraction as Kosara’s attention was pulled away from the alcohol issue… for now anyways. She made a thinking face.” Not that I can remember… Mine were about riding a golden unicorn through a field of flowers. It was VERY fun.” She said fondly, but her expression was an almost feral wide toothy grin that wouldn’t out of place on the face of a crazed berserker who was drowning in the bloodlust of battle. The shift was sudden and intense, one moment merry Kosara, next crazed Kosara and then just as it appeared it vanished, replaced with worried Kosara as she turned to Berry.” Hey that doesn’t sound too well. Are you sick, Berry?” She asked, voiced filled with warmth and worry. MAYBE the crazy Kosara was a mirage earlier? Trick of the light?” I can cure you of the more common diseases if you wish? It also works VERY well against being drunk.” And her attention was back on Kathryn and V too. Kosara could be distrated, but she rarely completely forgot… unless it was convenient.

In any case, throughout the whole set of happenings, Kosara had also paid some attention on their youngest unofficial member of the party, Lizbeth. Who through the talks of dreams and things seemed VERY uncomfortable. Given their revelations in the previous night.. among other things, she figured it was best to not bring it up at this moment. Instead Kosara decided to focus on the question of what they were going to be doing.” I will stick with my plan to try to visit the local settlement. I will ask around, see if people are already starting to form against us and try to see if the temple has anything going on… Will also check traders and if there’s an inn, will also around there for news. Unlikely for visitors given the state of the roads, but still.”

There was a certain thing to her dreams that Kosara couldn’t quite every properly explain once she woke up. The white tiefling’s dreams were almost all the time a jumble of weird scenery amusing happy scenery and nightmarish grotesque events, when she wasn’t just dreaming about something silly or wild anyways. This time it was a rather heavily grotesque sequence of dancing undead with floppy bits that were all dancing to the tune played by some horned beings, possibly devils or demons… or maybe succubi in really thematic costumes who could really tell. At least until it devolved into her defeating them all with the power of goodness that took the shape of big stick of light that she was whacking people over the head with cackling like mad while riding a majestic golden unicorn.

“...” Kosara was quiet as she woke up and the usual transition a person does from dreams to reality happened, leading to most of her memories of her dreams going away. Gone were the hellish scenes and fiends. All she more or less recalled from her dreaming were field of grass, flowers and riding a pretty horse while laughing merrily…” That was a nice dream.” She concluded, having decided that was all she really needed from said dreams. Yes, Kosara was a happily rested woman. Despite the events of last night, she had gotten a decent sleep for the most part.

With a yawn and a stretch, she stood up to a sitting position, looking around. She was alone in the room, meaning that V had left at some point, but she suspected it couldn’t have been too long ago. In any case, She swung herself into sitting position at the edge of the bed and stood up. She made her bed, changed her clothes into her normal getup for day to day and began performing some light exercises and stretching routines. Had to keep in shape if anything, her main job was dancing and she really needed to maintain her flexibility and dexterity for it.

After dealing with the warm up, she used a towel to dry herself and then prestidigitation to clean her clothing some. The last thing she did was to undo her braid and let her hair fall loose in gentle waves behind her. She just felt like letting it loose today or at least for the time being. She was probably going to have to rebraid it or ask somebody to help her with braiding it later, but for now she enjoyed it loose. Finally with all that done, she picked her back, swung it over her shoulder and happily headed downstairs. The scent of breakfast hit her right away once she entered, her long loose hair swaying behind her back for a change.

“Hey, everybody! Breakfast smells amazing!” She called as she entered the main hall of the coach house.” Did I miss anything?” Kosara asked as she stormed inside like a blur of white and found herself the closest empty seat to the fire, eyeing the breakfast offered with hungry eyes, before she eyed the others.” Why do I feel I’m really missing something?” She quipped, looking at V and Kathryn, the later of which was already moving on alcohol… in the morning! Kathryn was turning into a layabout!" Kathryn..." Kosara begain, staring at the bigger woman. The tielfing's loose white wavy hair was framing her pale face." You aren't trying to get drunk the first thing in the morning... are you?" Her eyes narrowed at the woman's choice of drink! Brandy in the morning! At least it should have been beer if you were to drink it so early!

“The recipe’s probably a bit different, but they are called crepes? Will remember then!” Kosara smiled to Lizbeth when the girl went ahead to try the dessert with liberal usage of condiments as was proper. She then turned to Kathryn and gave the big woman a huge happy grin. Yes, Kosara was a very happy tiefling right now. People were liking the dessert, so she herself picked one of the crepes, put a bit of jam on it and started nibbling on it with a happy expression. If she still had her tail, it would probably having been making happy swinging motions behind her. As the situation stood right now she lacked said tail, but her expression was still just as happy.

“Understandable, I myself will be eating only one now.” The white haired tiefling replied happily to V and her concerns over food and one’s overall size. Though also admittedly Kosara was one of the ladies present that didn’t watch her figure quite as much overall and not eating too many crepes and jam right now was less about her figure and more about sugar. Grandpa did made her to remember to not have too much sugar before bed lest it messes with her sleep. She also spend a lot of time active, running about, dancing and generally doing stuff so she was mostly good as long as she didn’t overindulge a bit too much.

After the appearance of the dessert, the group’s energy more or less tapered off as people gradually went ahead to return to bed. First were Liz and Kathryn, much to Kosara’s mild annoyance. She didn’t get to have massages or give massages to her big friend. Much sadness was had at that realization, but what can you do? Sadly V also left clearly tired so it was likely she wouldn’t want a massage either. The dancer briefly contemplated offering Berry a massage instead, since everybody else expertly avoided it knowing or unknowing, but on a second thought decided against it. People might question that decision, given her usual way of acting, but the reason was quite simple really… He was still recovering from his injuries. Even if magic healed most of them, it was best to let his body settle in first least she triggered something still lingering or opened a wound that hadn’t closed completely quite yet.

When only Berry and her were left, once berry had finished eating she gave him a smile.“ Berry, you go to bed now, I will clear the table and go to bed afterwards. You don’t need to help me with it. The Unseen servant still has a bit of time in it.” She reassured him.” That and you still aren’t completely healed! Go rest!” She then quickly settled in to move the dishes back to the kitchen area before the last of the Unseen Servant’s energy expired and it eventually fizzled out into nothingness once more.

Once everything was done and dealt with, she headed back to the room she shared with V and Lizbeth. Well there was only a single occupant waiting for her this time( Morty didn’t count). Kosara walked over to her bed, changed out of her clothing into what she usually used to sleep with around here. Yes she had learned to not sleep almost naked once winter proper arrived. She used a shirt and a set of trousers as sleepwear. It was the same ones she used for autumn’s usual day to day activities. She planned to clean the clothes she wore in the morning, felt a bit too tired right now. So she settled into her bed, curled up and warming quickly as the storm outside raged even if it had weakened some. Like a beast whose howls weakened with time and fatigue.

“Today was a tiring day...” She mumbled to herself, making herself comfortable as her eyes were closing and her awareness melting away.” I wonder what everybody back home is doing...” Would they believe her when she got the chance to tell them of her travels and experiences? Will they even be able to imagine a snowstorm and it’s howling? It wasn’t too dissimilar to a sandstorm… just deadly in different ways. Her mind also wandered to Toombles… that was sad, she concluded as she finally completely drifted of into slumber for the evening. Tomorrow was going to be another day filled with excitement, she decided.

Kosara’s playing around in the kitchen and dancing between ingredients was a bit more involved and purposeful than one might initially suspect from the happy tiefling woman. The dancer had this general atmosphere of being a bit too childish most of the time to actually have any serious skills, but it wasn’t quite correct of course. People were rarely as simple as they appeared at first glance. In Kosara’s case, she was somewhat adept at cooking. She wasn’t a professional like the people in the kitchen back home, but she knew how to cook and her somewhat interesting point of view allowed her to improvise some interesting results as she did so. That and one of the skills her sisters back home drilled into her head was cooking. Apparently it was a crucial skill to posses, a thing to which Kosara wouldn’t be complaining about! In any case, at some point she had recast Unseen Servant to help her with the kitchen tasks.

“Alright this should do!” Kosara smiled as she was pulling flatbreads from the skillet. She had used a different recipe for the dough, making it almost liquid. Making for easier making of thinner breads, though she didn’t know if locals had similar things to be honest. Still the smaller skillet meant it was smaller flatbreads. The recipe wasn’t sweet, but made them more flexible so you could almost fold them. Back home they were used as desserts too, they weren’t sweet though. Somewhat salty to be honest, but it wasn’t bad and you could always make it sweet with jams, fruits or honey. In this case they had access to all tree! So Kosara had prepared a stack of the thin dessert flatbreads, making a note to ask if the locals had a name for them for easier reference in the future, and a bowl where she had mixed jam with some dried fruit pieces to spread on the breads. She also brought a jar of honey for people who would prefer that over the fruit jams.

“Dessert’s ready!” Kosara called as she opened the kitchen door, bring over a big plate with the thin pancake looking breads in one hand and a number of plates in the other. Behind her the Unseen Servant was carrying the bowl of jam and dried fruits, the jar of honey and a couple of spoons to spread the sweet goodness as needed.” Not sure if you have another name for it out here, but we just referred to it as Dessert Breads back home. Had to adapt the recipe a bit, but it worked out. Can eat them without anything if you want, they are a bit salty though. Alternatively you could put honey or jam. Havent had any in a while, but they also make marvelous breakfast!” She started to put the stuff on the table.

Kosara listened to Lizbeth’s recount of the clergy situation in the local area. Now that was not something she had expected to quite hear. To lack any divine magic wielding clergy that’s station in the area was a major oversight as far as she could conclude. The simple fact that magic wielding clerics were the main source of fighting force against undead meant this whole region was lacking severely in that direction. Which given their situation with a Lich on the loose, meant they were very well screwed. That and it meant no local trusted person to align with them on the problems, meaning if the locals got very set against them it would very well turn bloody fast.” That… could be an issue… I think.” Kosara concluded in the end, making a thinking face while pondering how to proceed with this unexpected situation.

The tiefling looked at V.” Well… the method for dealing with this type of situation that grandpa taught me will not work...” Kosara quipped, thinking of her desire to kick him between the legs… or in the shins. Yes, her solution was to kick them somewhere where it hurt, but wasn’t exactly life endangering until they stopped being stupid. It was how she was taught to deal with perverts too, though to be fair, she wasn’t quite up there with understanding on what constituted a pervert. As far as she managed to figure it out, it was people who were trying to bed her and weren’t taking a no for an answer.” I think I will leave interacting with him to you then in the future.”

“I’m worried that even if we try to send a message out to seek further air, it might get intercepted. It’s probably fair to assume the necromancer or whomever is calling his shots if the one who send the mutilated Toombles, isn’t the leader, is capable of scrying our actions or otherwise keep us under observation.” The dancer said with unhappy expression.

She sighed and rubbed her face a bit, looking at the plate that was now empty before her.” I guess whatever happens will happen one way or another… I better head to make some things for dessert while the rest of you rest and prepare to settle in for the night.” The tiefling smiled and picked up her empty plates and headed for the kitchen, planning to pick the rest of the tableware once the others have finished completely with their meals. She headed to the kitchen to check the food stuffs there and down at the basement and the pantry.

There were more than enough supplies, preserved fruits and other ingredients that she could work with… Well it was mostly variations on preserved fruits… dried fruits, jams, compots and so on. Some other ingredients could be found too, but she doubted she had the time to bake something with flour and fruits… and honey. In any case between the fruits, honey, some spices and other ingredients she was getting some ideas. While she couldn’t bake something big, she was probably able to quickly bake some smaller flat breads to serve as base for some desserts. Preparing food was a very relaxing and calming task for her. Kosara was certainly learning to enjoy it a lot.

As soon as Lizbeth asked for help with moving the food to the table, Kosara hopped up to offer help along with V in any way possible, even if it meant she’d just bring a single thing over. It was very important to be friendly and helpful when you could. Helping others was a good deed after all.

“These all do look marvelous!” Kosara agreed with the bard on the topic of the food. Still felt different and outlandish to her, but not in a bad way. She just still couldn’t quite get used to some of the food out here, but the food wasn’t bad. Just the opposite! It was great and the tiefling woman enjoyed it a lot. She just sometimes missed a taste of home, the closest she had gotten were the flat breads and the ankheg meat.” It tastes delicious too!” She then added after giving the food a taste. It felt very nice to have something warm in her stomach after the stay outside in the cold. Her new outfit was pretty and all, but really wasn’t made for the dead of winter and snowstorms.

“Mhm, we should at least warn the clergy so they aren’t caught unaware. If I was an evil person who wants to deal with undeath, I would make sure to neutralize any temples in the are even if they were of little power.” She dropped casually with a nod to Berry as she leaned over and touched him to unleash her Healing Light ability she had gotten from her Grandpa. Golden light focused on her hand that was now placed on Berry’s shoulder, celestial energies working to heal as much of his injuries as possible.” Here, this should take care of most of your injuries, I think. Should make you more comfortable for the moment and make it easier to rest tonight.” The white haired tiefling smiled at her monk friend.

Her attention shifted to V.” Even if it’s small temples, should they have divine spell casters with them, they could be either a target or an invaluable ally should the worst comes to pass… that and people often go to clergy for advice. If we get them on board with us, it may mess with whatever problems that Laurent might be plotting to cause us.” Kosara explained her reasoning to want any local clergy on her side. That and she was raised to think of good aligned temples as possible allies.

“Also, I think since Lizbeth, you made the dinner despite being as tired and having stayed out in the cold as us, I think it’s only fair I leave you to rest now and for me to prepare dessert. There’s more than enough supplies in stock to make something, and I’m getting ideas already!”

While V was doing her necromantic magical tasks and for a while afterwards, Kosara had gotten weirdly quiet as she the usually noisy and energetic tiefling had gotten into a silent thinking mood while the world around her continued to revolve and they eventually returned to the Coach House proper.” Hmm, ohh, no. Unseen Servant’s not a Necromantic spell. It’s a Conjuration spell. It’s just an invisible force that’s capable of carrying out physical tasks as long as they are not too physically taxing.” She snapped briefly from her state to answer Lizbeth’s question before returning to look at the fires of the Coach House. Thinking deeply on a topic or another as various conflicting thoughts and feelings rushed through her mind.

There was something fundamentally wrong in the area, Kosara suspected. It almost felt like it wasn’t something new, what with the old names and influences that kept appearing. It felt like something had lingered here and they stumbled upon it in pure chance. Farid al Ramil Sabaj al Hazred… now that was a name that kept returning to her mind for a reason or another as a probably culprit. She just somehow doubted it was him to turn Toombles into that… if for no other reason, but because an old, experienced and powerful necromancer would probably have a bit more… finesse? After all the bodies that delivered the message were well more refined, especially since there were no actual indications of them being undead aside their unexplained appearances. Something also made her think back to the bodies in the buried workshop. Regular looking dead bodies that you couldn’t actually spot moving, but spells to target beings targeted them without issues.

Comments about the deals slipped her hearing as if they never happened, but she was thinking of what was happening and how to proceed. She had pointed out that they should reach out to any temples in the area and seek out clerics who may or may not have more detailed records of anything nercomantic in the general vicinity. With this place having been part of the Necromantic wars, it stood to reason, at least to her, that the various temples around should have at least some experience with the unlife and the undead minions. Finally her eyes snapped wide open out of nowhere when Kathryn turned to her to ask for information.” Farid al Ramil Sabaj al Hazred was considered a prince in the Empire as such it’s entirely possible he was turned to lich eventually, but as far as I’m aware there hasn’t been any news of him for a long time… so if he was a lich he was bidding his time or he was returned to lichdom since then if that’s possible.” She replied back, visibly refocusing on the discussion at hand now, turning her back to the fire.

“If he was present in the area back during the wars, somebody would have been aware of it. The Medician having took part might know more. Especially of named leaders during the war.” Kosara added, taking a seat on a chair, rubbing her hands together to warm them.” I’m planning to see if the weather allows for a town visit tomorrow. If possible, I want to visit any temples there. Seeing the danger is of undeath origin, they should be made aware and we should check if they have any information.”

Kosara had to blink at the sudden burst of speed from Lizbeth who drew a short sword on her with the speed of a trained fighter. Wiping the water and snow of her face, she studied the girl for a moment.” Good reactions!” She gave a bit of a praise for it was well earned and Kosara’s mind easily jumped between things… or easily lost tracks of things… Ehhh semantics. There appears that something had happened before the tiefling arrived, noting the atmosphere in the area. She vaguely wondered what it was that she missed and if it was important.

Then as if to make her feel even more curious, Berry started speaking in that language that she didn’t understand. Alright something definitely had happened that she wasn’t aware of. She did note the comment about Lizbeth not being a monster though. Though thankfully the blue dragon man finally decided to switch back to common and reveal at least in part the topics of their conversations she had missed. She gave a questioning gaze at V as if to ask what was this all about.

“Alrighty, after me!” She stated and turned on a heel, walking around the unseen servant that was carrying the remains of Toombles and back out into the snowstorm.” … “ Getting blasted in the face once more with cold wind and icy snow, also getting her mouth full of said snow since she hadn’t quite closed it when she stepped outside made her descend into a quick cough before she regained control and moved hurriedly to the storage room, a floating toombles on her trail. Getting back inside a shelter she rubbed the snow off her face once more.

As was expected given where they were, a crate was chosen as a suitable resting place for Toombles for the time being. A good hasty solution if any. They could nail the thing shut if they had too as well. Though again Kosara wasn’t quite sure if Toombles’ family would appreciate it in the long run. In any case, she suspected there would be issues in the near future. She also very sincerely hoped that the ‘Curse of the Stubbed Toe’ she sent that man reached him and he was well suffering unpleasant pain of hitting his toes on furniture. In the meantime she also studied V’s actions as she was performing her crafts to make sure the remains of Toombles wouldn’t be disturbed anymore. Finally it was done and Kosara nodded.” Yes, something warm would be great!” She let out a slight shiver as she hurriedly moved back towards the coach house’s interior to get to the fireplace, wanting proper warmth of fire, that and the crackling of fire was quite calming actually. She also just realized that she could use Prestidigitation to make some of her clothing warmer to keep her warm. That had potential! In any case, as soon as she entered she bolted to the fireplace and sat near it, arms extended towards it and looking around to check how much firewood was nearby to throw more if needed. All in all, a lot happened too fast tonight and she felt tired and maybe a bit worried.

“Not sure I can… Maybe. Grandpa showed it to me and allows me to do it. I know that other spellcasters have varying ways to perform this spell though.” The tiefling commented as they started to move back towards the coachhouse, she moved with the unseen servant, studying how the thing carried the remains. Unseen Servants moved a bit slower than regular, so her arrival was going to be a bit delayed as a whole really.

“That we did! Well weird undead happenings not withstanding.” Kosara quipped in return as she was studying the way the body of Toombles was floating because of the force of the Unseen Servant. Even the head was now floating with the thing. It had to be noted that the Unseen Servant had a degree of finesse in tasks, after all it was quite often perfect to use for household chores and even pouring drinks… So that got her thinking if it was possible to more finely control Toomble’s remains. Now mind you it wasn’t done with malicious intent, but she did experiment with mentally command the unseen servant to see if it was possible to mimic things like moving the arms and so on to imitate animation. Which in a certain way made her think and realize that you need not be a necromancer to make bones move. After all wouldn’t people basically be able to do that even without magic if they rig a skeleton body with strings and puppeteer it from on high?

“But of course!” Kosara chimmed up, returning her attention to Berry who was ahead of her.” We had so much fun! We should do it more often! Also it’s not really that dark a times… I actually do like the night and the snow! No such things in the deserts, the cold is a bit uncomfortable yes, but the snow is great! Playing in the snow is also great, I should ask Kathryn if she wants to have a snowball fight should the time allows it. I have the feeling things might start escalating soon which will probably means less time to enjoy ourselves...”

After that they didn’t speak much, especially with the worsening weather as Kosara got further behind Berry because she was minding the unseen servant. She was still glowing though so that at least mean she wasn’t losing her way… probably. She didn’t! Though her slower movement meant she missed most of the discussion about the nature of necromancy and the lure of power and so on, but arrive she did as she entered through the entrance, covered in snow, her clothing having started getting wet from it, meaning she was going to need to change soon. In any case, toombles had collected a layer of the snow himself as she floated it behind herself.” So should I place him just on the floor somewhere? Or should we take this to one of the small rooms outside where we can lock the door afterwards?” Kosara asked with a smile, using one hand to get the snow off her head and rub her red cheeks and cold nose.

Kosara was thinking and blinking and narrowing her eyes and only on occasion trying to look into the winds and the snow that was whipping into them with purpose. A thing she had noticed about the so called winter, very marvelous and potentially scary thing with how it could limit vision and feel unpleasant, mayhaps even deadly if you are stuck outside without shelter. In a way it reminded her of a sandstorm! Alright though to be fair, sandstorms were just as likely to blind you and make you unable to breath as sand fills your mouth, nose and down your throat if you don’t protect yourself from it… So far she was concluding that sandstorms were still worse.

Her attention moved to Cecily and her statement of NOT burning skeletoombles and the reason for it. Her eyes gradually moved back to the recently killer corpse with purpose and thinking expression.” If you say so… I’m not sure if this is more presentable or not...” Kosara simply stated, blinking at the gortesquely dressed corpse.

“Well I have nothing against it, Liz.” Kosara chimmed in to the girl’s desire to stick with them. Some weirdness and quirks of the girl aside, she was turning out to be the unofficial next member of the party… though considering she apparently knew Abyssal of all things, the tiefling was thinking they should be keeping her close. Considering the information they knew so far, it was clear the L’Rose family was heavily involved in some capacity with what was happening in the area, maybe the grandfather more than the others, but it seemed Lizbeth had some capacity in it too, willing or not.

“Probably not!” Kosara cheerfuly replied to Kathryn as the woman leaned close.” But I had fun too, should do it again sometimes.” The dancer added, grinning.” We should meet in your room again for massages though.” She quipped with gleaming eyes… or maybe it was the lights of her glowing clothing that was simply reflecting off her eyes?

In any case people were leaving which left Kosara and Berry to ponder the moving of the skeletoombles back to the couch house. The white haired woman considered the situation really hard. With all the seriousness of somebody like her could anyways. There was the fact that carrying him trudging through the snow and storm would be unpleasant and also the fact that she really didn’t want to touch the remains. Like still sinewy bones and uncleaned skin stitched roughly together in a form of clothes? Yeah no...” Alright, not sure how heavy this is, but let’s see if the Unseen Servant can carry him first.” She told Berry through the storm, deciding on the idea to just have the magical force carry the body.” There’s no muscles, organs or fluids, there’s just the bones and some of the skin. Maybe this is just light enough to carry via magical means.” She theorized and focused on the corpse.

“Pick him up.” She ordered the Unseen Force, now also wanting to head back to the Couchhouse. Worst case scenario where this spell fizzles because of the weight? She resummons it and has it carry from the leg side while Berry grabs skeletoombles by the ribcage or something. But if it worked? They could head off immediately!
