Way to rise above your base instincts and try to scratch out a utopia in the wastes, guys. I can almost see your citizens constructing a church to the tune of Colonel Bogey's March. I, on the other hand, chose self-preservation and totalitarianism. I'll see you chumps come first winter!

SAFE

Mrs. Scott
Given that my base of operations has limited space, I'd give the Scotts a choice of which two get to come with me. Based on everything I know about family psychology, the mom and son are going to come with me while Papa Scott makes the ultimate sacrifice and chooses to tough it out in the wilderness. Way to take one for the team. Anyway, without proper medication, Mrs. Scott has less than a year (unless she's very careful) until her blood sugar gets fatally high or low. At that point, she becomes Mrs. Scott jerky.

Billy Scott
Billy's fate as a person or side of salted meat depends on his mom's health. He'll be a strong worker and delightful company until then.

Mr. White
It doesn't hurt to have someone who's studied medicine, and by "doesn't hurt", I mean it is completely paramount. While our political opinions differ, we both speak the international language of music, which is a start.

Mrs. Anthony
Mrs. Anthony's electrical knowledge will definitely come in handy, and I agree with her about population -- that being said, I get the feeling that population growth will be a less serious issue given that we've experienced an apocalypse. Not eating her should also boost my relations with Mr. White, who now has someone to talk about peckerwoods with.

Mr. Clark
The construction buffs save Mr. Clark from immediate cannibalization. However, the clashing ideologies of Mr. Clark and Mr. White will eventually come to a head. At that point, you guessed it, Mr. Clark is cured and dried. Hopefully he'll put up some walls and patch some holes before then.

Dr. Rita
Of course Dr. Rita lives. A doctor who could drop dead at any moment? Throw an egg on that, you got breakfast. Ideally, Dr. Rita trains Mr. White as much as she can before such a time.

AXED

Dr. Scott
The good doctor is as healthy as a horse, but comes as a three-piece set. Considering that I hope to eat his fat wife and disabled child, immediately turning him away is a priority. Besides, he is one of two candidates who could physically overpower me before I can turn him into steaks.

Ms. Perez
I'll be real with you. I think I can bludgeon poor Billy Scott to death for hamburgers, but I just can't see myself eating Ms. Perez's baby. Since she's not going to join my compound without her screaming, hungry liability, Ms. Perez gets turned away. Maybe she can hang out with Dr. Scott and repopulate the wilderness.

Father Mark
Father Mark is just as much a threat as Dr. Scott, perhaps even moreso because he'd have the strongest, quickest rejection of my cannibalism-based society.
@Nib No, the OOC is up on Advanced. Originally, I had everyone who wanted to rule a nation by the time the interest check went up. That, and I'm more focused on character relations and believable worldbuilding than military stats and clunky conlgangs the section is rife with.
Giving this a bump. We lost a player, so there is a kingdom open for any prospective kings.

Before Ardall the Great arrived, Ardacia was a secret to the world, known as "Nokulikulk" to the hut-dwelling natives that called it home. It meant "Dirt Which is Precious" in their harsh tongue, a fact Ardall would only learn as an old man after conquering their precious dirt, appointing scholars and pacified natives to the task of translating his subject's language. Ardall's conquest was a relatively quick ordeal -- The natives of Nokulikulk, while having tales boasting of troll-slayers and dragon-chasers among their rank, had never seen the steel, formations, or horses Ardall brought with him, and were smashed in every engagement until Ardall's forces had reached the frozen northern shores. Since this conquest, the sons and grandsons of Ardall have been the emperors of Ardacia, maintained through the imperial house of Arda, stewards of Verania. So it has been for five hundred years.

The Ardacians, as they are now known, are comprised of many kingdoms under the banner of an empire. While more or less the same in culture, following the faith brought to the continent by Ardall and following the same social conventions from coast to coast, there are still a great number of differences from kingdom to kingdom. In the imperial city, lords drink spiced wine out of crystal goblets while they gaze out at the Conqueror's Sea, while clans on the northern coasts past the Valley of Tears tell thousands-year old stories in Oldtongue in torchlit caves. It is not the similarities or alliances between kingdoms that has held Ardacia together for half a millennium -- kingdoms come and go in marriage alliances, petty feuds blown into wars, or trifle arguments over acres of land. It is the power of the House of Arda that has maintained the Empire, and the times they have used this power to serve its people.

Direbeasts (Larger variations of real-world animals) as well as several homebrew creatures inspired by real-world animals that I'm trying to keep believable. South Ardacia has "Kite-Snakes", for example, which are snakes with flaps used for gliding. North Ardacia has crabs that copy sounds they hear to hunt (sometimes mimicking human voices and causing shipwrecks), etc. Orlandis has more fantasy elements like dragons and sand-worms, but it's also the "foreign other" backdrop where things are supposedly less civilized.
@Searat This will be a low fantasy story, so there are no other races. As mentioned, the last remnants of magic are ancient royal artifacts and folk healers/witches, who are social pariahs. Priests of the continent's dominant religion can use prayers to effectively cast "Cure Light Wounds" or "Detect Evil", but no fireballs or things like that.
