The past-- Both 15 years of age-- Meria licked her lips, pouring water down her throat. Mmmm~ delicious. "Mother! Thank you for the meal, it tasted delicious!" She said, a smile on her face as she set down her plate that had been brought to her lips. Mother looked at her with a kind smile before speaking "Your welcome sweets, however, you know how I feel about bringing your plate to your lips." Meria giggled as she got up and took her plate over to the dishwasher. "Sorry~" With that, her mother nodded before asking her to go buy some things from the supermarket nearby. Honestly, she was still not quite used to being told what to do around the house. She either had... Maybe servants... they might have been forced to take care of the house. However, she managed to contain herself and supress the urge to roll her eyes or just smirk upon hearing it. Habits that she got from her mother and was trying to change for her new parents.
Draél sighed as he sat in the tavern, he had been gambling for food and had just about finished his plate when a robust looking fellow slammed his fist down into Draéls table. At this the younger Draél looked up at the man who challanged him to another game in a not so gentle fashion as he more or less demanded it. Draél looked to the man a while before snorting and took out a empty bowl "Okay... sure, lets play some Chinchirorin for the money then... it's a simple game really... just roll the three dices in this bowl... two alike and a number equals your roll... but you can also roll for straights and storms... numbers above 3 is good and below is bad..." he explained as he handed the man the three dices. "I match your bet... you can start if you like" Draél said and the man accepted, they played it for a while and eventually as it looked like the man was winning Draél lucked out with a Good storm and rolled three times the bet back... this made the man angry of course calling Draél a cheater and the barkeep had to intervene before it got violent.
Getting out from the bar Draél walked to the marked with his newly obtained cash and was quite ready to spend his new earnings. Yet he took his time browsing from the different vendors as it seemed that the market in town had all kinds of interesting goods. It was quite an interesting town in Draéls eyes, quite different from the realm he was used to live in... yet he quite admired the human-ish towns as they usually had such different culture depending on the region, not like the elves that was very single minded and the demons who obviously still liked black, red and horror themes.
Meria stepped out of her home, flipping some of her hair behind her shoulder. Meria looked as beautiful as always but her hair was bothering her to extreme lengths lately. She wanted to cut it but mother seemed to love her hair so that was something she couldn't do. Slowly, she walked to the nearby supermarket. Usually, she took her bike but she just felt like relaxing and taking a while to get there on this particular day. Her parents had somehow attained the cutest house that she saw in this entire town. The town was filled with black, red, and other things that she loved but didn't seem to match her parents. Why did they even choose to live here?
Soon, she pulled out the money that her parents had given her before putting it back in her pocket and taking out her own money. Honestly, how could I take money from them? It just wasn't possible. Stepping inside of the market, she glanced around to search for the bread aisle. However, she had to stop and say hello to a few people that new her parents first. She put on a bright and sweet smile while talking to them before sighing and wiping the smile off of her face afterwards with a small sigh. She had a bored expression on her face. Meria couldn't get used to this understanding. Caring about other people boasts about their life? Honestly. I don't care about your newborn baby. With that, she returned to her shopping as she searched for the most disgusting type of bread, whole grain. Nightmares tasted much better.
Draél was mostly minding his own business at the Supermarket when he noticed one girl among the crowd who stood out as different to him, at first he couldn't quite put his finger on what it was that made it different... yet the feeling inside him lingered until his curiosity started to peak enough for him to slightly get closer to her. As he drew closer he felt it stronger. she was not quite as much human as she appeared nor was the feeling she gave him familiar. He pondered on it a moment before he raised a hand in her direction causing it to glow slowly for a few seconds... then he realized it, he couldn't tap into her mana... because she didn't collect it in a fashion that he could siphon off... it was strange indeed, but he knew that most creatures with natural powers had this ability because they didn't use mana to perform their abilities.
At this he sighed, and moved ahead of her from above at first until he walked down a staircase to meet her. "A Mysterious girl approaches... what do you do?... " he said as he threw a dice on the floor letting it roll a few times before it landed on the number 7 of his 20 sided dice. He pondered about it for a moment before looking to her. "You feeling lucky girl?... how about a dice game?... if you win I give you double the money you bet... and if I win, you tell me about yourself?..." he said as he grinned slightly as he cooly leaned towards a wall as he glanced at her.
Meria had just picked up the bread before she heard someone speak to her. Thinking it was another on of her parents acquaintances, she turned to them with a kind smile before nearly speaking. However, realizing that it was just another man around her age, 15, she clicked her tongue and turned back.
Am I feeling lucky? She turned her head back over to him with a shaft head tilt. With that, she smirked at the man. She was not feeling lucky but whatever, it sounded interesting and she barely had anything to loose. However, she realized that there was someone that her father knew in the store. "Hmmm... Sounds interesting enough. Why not? However, I won't be doing it here obviously. There are far too many people that know me." pausing, she looked and saw around 5 of her parents friends now. He may not of looked that horrible, but she didn't want her parents having to hear about her being around a random man and talking to them. However, she saw a few other teenage girls glancing at him with giggles and supressed the urge to roll her eyes. "Also, don't stand too close to me. You reek of alchohol." With that, she smiled kindly at the man and walked ahead. "I suppose we'll meet at the front of the store in around 4 minutes." she said, barely looking at him as she went over to the milk area. All she needed for the day was milk, bread, and whipped cream. Her parents don't mind her staying out unless it's past 2 AM anyways.
With a flick of his fingers the dice that Draél had rolled earlier returned to his hand, it hoovered around his hand a few times before he put it into a bag. He raised a brow at her comment however, then shrugged as she might be one of those types of females that had eyes on her everywhere. "Alright... " he replied shortly frowning about the comment about reeking alcohol... he haden't even been drinking, meaning the stain must be from the bar somewhere... it was her point it out however as if it was that bad or something... either that or it she just tried to avoid him... hard to know. He settled on a chair outside the store however and decided to down a coke while waiting for her that he bought from the lottery vendor outside.
After leaving him, a feeling of guilt washed over her. Sorry mother...father.. She really was trying to change herself for them. Grabbing the whipped cream, she headed over to the cashier and politely said her hello's and goodbye's. Walking outside, she looked right and left and finally spotted the man. Walking over to the man, she shuffled through her bag in search for her wallet but it seemed to be in the deep end of her bag.
Draél looked up at the female from across the table and raised a hand in greeting as he continued to down his coke. "So... you actually came. Was worried I had scared you off. Well are you familiar with Chinchiorin?" he asked as he put a bowl on the table and laid three six standard six sided dices next to it. He made certain to place the bowl within the reach for both of them in approximetly the center of the table.
Meria looked up at the man and set her bag on the table. "Haha. Right." She had seen too many things to be afraid by him. Much less a man her age. Chinchiorin? "Afraid not. I only know of Assassin Ace" her ex-parents loved to play this card game. They say that the others have to kill the looser but her father loved to make them commit suicide by knife instead. Of course, he cheated every game and killed anyone that said they had one~ Idiots. The room was filled with his bodyguards and they dare think that it was going to be a fair game. An extremely boring game to watch though.
"Would you mind explaining? I simply like games. The outcome doesn't really matter." with that, she took out her wallet and placed a wad of cash on the table which contained four 100 bills. It wasn't much at the moment anyways. Her parents didn't know just how much money she had.
Draél shrugged as he didn't quite know the game she was talking about, he was much more for dices than cards. "Fraid i don't know too many card games... but I'll explain" he said and looked to the cash she forked up, not a small sum to bet on a game you hardly knew, yet he shrugged as he put a bag of cash nearby. "Its a simple game really... you roll the dices in this bowl. and try to get pairs followed by any number, straight's of 4,5,6, or a 'storm' with all dices showing the same number above 4, like 4,4,4 etc... if a dice leaves the bowl it's a fault and the opponent wins... and if I roll higher than your pair's odd number I also win. At a straight or storm, you can get double or triple your bet, but only if you roll above 3. otherwise you loose that much..." he explained as he looked to her. "So do you understand?" he asked.
"Got it. she said, looking at the dice with a smile. As long as she got to escape from this hell called reality for a while, even if it was with gambling, she was fine with whatever the outcome.
--Time skip--
With the dices rolled and the game quickly settled Draél looked to her with a slight smirk. As his 4 beat her 3 on a rather close game. "Well... that settles the game I'm afraid... my number is higher than yours... and if it was normal rules those 400 would now be mine... however, I want 400 cash worth of information instead. Like what you are... its quite clear your not human even if you look the part... " he said as he looked over at her as he placed the bowl asside.
Dang it. Oh well. She relaxed her shoulders and glanced at him. Hm? "You were serious? You're not taking the money? Wait. You're not some sort or rapist or murderer? Not that you look like it... I mean. Ok." she tapped her fingers on the table. "A baku. Nightmare eater and hey, don't knock it till you try it right?" with this, she smiled. Only a little bit since she since she wasn't actually trusting of him just yet or anything.
He looked at her for a moment as she said what she was, thinking if he had heard it before or not... yet he figured it was the latter. It was quite curious indeed, but apperently she was not one of the 'dominant magical races'. "Yeah... I rape and eat people all the time... like everyone else" he replied sarcasticly before chuckling. "A Nightmare eater huh?... that sounds quite cool actually... and hey... I don't judge. " he said as he thought for a bit. "My name happens to be Draél... and I wonder what I could call a cute mysterious nightmare eating Baku like you?" he asked as he winked slightly with a smirk.
She laughed a bit. Hopefully he wasn't telling the truth. She wasn't really all that used to hearing sarcasm herself. Meria was surprised at hearing herself be called cute but quickly disregarded it. He was playing around, it would be embarrassing to get worked up over such a thing. She was unnaffected as she replied with a small smile. When she opened her mouth to introduce herself, she nearly said her actual name but quickly changed it. "Nice to meet you. My name is Meria." People actually winked around here? That's a first.
He let out a chuckle as he saw her smile, it was at least a good sign so far even if it was small. He gave her a nod in return "Likewise Meria... So... Meria. are you satisfied with your current state of life?" he asked her as he was curious if she lived a good life around here... after all if she weren't living a good life he might have a fun proposition for her.
His question hit her hard. Good life? Her life was perfect right now. But... It just... "My life is perfect. Perfect parents and a perfect home. I'm probably just a brat that gets bored far too easily." sighing as she said this last line, she looked down at her hands. She didn't want to seem conceited by actually saying that she didn't like how she had to act at the moment. Her life was much more perfect than before. She didn't have to hurt anyone or watch people get hurt. Her hands were so bloody. They still are. The horrid thing was that she didn't actually dislike hurting people back then. Her life was fine now. However, something just seemed like it was missing. Nothing big. A small puzzle where it's almost complete but you find out that you lost just one piece.
He thought about her answer, to him it seemed like a lie... or a state of mind where you simply want to think or believe everything was perfect because life never was... its a kind of drive to believe that nothings ever pefect, to want more... saying that she got bored already busted the bubble of perfectionism as in a perfect world only satisfaction of the perfection would exist. "That sound like a Contradiction... perfect yet your bored... your in a mall alone... and are playing dice games with a Demon to pass time... heh... sounds like a story book where you just sold your soul to the devil" he said and chuckled slightly as he shook his head slowly. "But perhaps that is exactly what you want to do?... how about you become my familiar then Meria?. It would certainly beat a dull perfect life. " he said as he kept his eyes on her level as he asked his question.
She clicked her tongue upon hearing the truth. Something that she hated to hear. "Yes, yes. I suppose it does." However, she continued to listen to the man. "A...Familiar? Hmm...Why would you want me as a familiar? Haha, my actual life story isn't very pretty but I don't think that it would interest you." she said calmly, smirking at the man a bit. He didn't look like a bad person and becoming a familiar wasn't something that she was opposed to completely. She knew he was a demon from the moment she laid eyes on him. But he didn't look like a full demon. I suppose he's simply a carefree guy.
Draél was quite surprised she actually didn't say no, it was also quite an interesting and curious sign. Of course being half Demon half Elf, he appeal wise had the best of two worlds or so to speak. "Well... as you already have guessed I like to gamble. And my most favorite games are the onces you cannot percieve how they will end... you provide an oppertunity like that" he said before thinking for a while.
Meria pondered on this comment. Gambling... I suppose that is true. "Well, I suppose so. Would you like a few highlights of my life? " she laughed a bit at this. Was I really thinking of becoming the familiar of a stranger? Well, whatever. Maybe. Just maybe. She could grow to trust him.
Draél looked at her still for a long while as she asked if he wished to hear a few highlights. "Sure, tell me anything you wish Meria... after all, I'll gladly listen to what you have to say" he replied as he was quite curious indeed about her already.
She looked up a bit as she collected all of the things that she would say. "Let's see. My parents were psychopaths. Killed. Tortured. Made me do the same. Hurt me sometimes as well as my friend. Killed my parents. Took their money. Ran away. A nice couple took me in and I live with them now. And here's the present. I suppose that's about all I'll say. A pretty good summerization in my opinion." She laughed lightly before stopping and looking back down at her hands before rubbing them a bit. My life is perfect. Was perfect.
He raised a brow at her back story, so she was 'that' kind of person. It was indeed getting more interesting by the moment... a quite tragic past yet she called it perfect like if she was either really sarcastic or in denial. "Well... Like I said... I don't judge. Me`?... well I come from the life of two worlds... half demon half elf... quite an interesting combination, I've been to the Deepest and Darkest pit of obvlivion... and sung songs atop of a holy tree... if there's a Jin and a Jang I would be both I guess... yet i'm not harmony, and I still like to gamble... so how about it?... if you become my familiar I promise to make a contract to benefit us both" he said and left it there for a moment.
She had put on a harsh mask until now as her eyes fell more gentle and a small but genuine smile fell upon her lips. Don't judge, huh. "I'll accept this." I guess that's it. A story book about a girl making a deal with the devil, huh. Well, who knows.
Draél nodded as he heard her accepted yet it took him a while to actually get that she actually did accept it... this was shocking, and curious at the same time. He smiled and chuckled before progressing it all. "Okay... Then lets make it final then... I Draél Fahlmer, promise to take you Meria as my familiar, care for you in sickness and health... yada yada yada... you may now kiss the groom. Let us share a bound of a contract, master and familiar... through time and space, from our first breath together... until our last. Let my magic flow with you, as I pledge to protect you from harm... reward you for your services, and let you share a life together with me in every way where it can benefit us both." he said as he reached out his hand to her with a smile.
Meria nearly fell asleep but she made it unnoticable. "I, Meria, take Drael Fahlmer as my master. To respect you and fight for you when it is due. As long as you keep me entertained, I honestly do not mind much about anything else. I will do my best to terminate you if you are to break your vow and make your life a living nightmare~ With that, I look forward to spending my days with you." She smiles as she takes his hand. And that's that.
So at a voyage across the ocean after the two of them had been together for quite some time. Draél and Meria had decided to go to an Academy. Meria was the one that suggested it but Drael didn't particularly oppose it either. It was simply for them to practice and learn more of their skills. Drael couldn't say no when Meria mentioned how she had never gotten to actually go to the school. "Hmm... I'm not sure I feel tired of the ocean... I seem to be able to stare at it forever and be lost in its mesmerising beauty, almost like... when I look into your eyes Meria... he he... how do you feel? getting your sea legs yet?" he asked as he looked over to her.
Meria put a piece of her hair behind her ear as she smiled and looked out to the sea. "Drael, didn't I tell you to go flirt with the other women? Now you're taking it out on me. And yep, I have gotten my sea legs! Drael seemed to be doing this more and more often. Meria couldn't understand the reason for such things since she understood that he didn't like her. She sighed a bit sadly. With that, she stood on a wooden plank and spread out her arms. "It's beautiful." Over the few years, she had gotten much more used to him and built much more trust than before.
He chuckled slightly at her comment about him taking it out on her instead of other women. He walked up close to her and looked over the ocean by her side. He then glanced to her with a smile "I don't love the other women Meria... I do however really like you, perhaps even more than that... If you would allow it" he said to her gently reaching out a hand to caress her hair. "Your feelings are more important to me. And those cannot simply be replaced by anyone else... you are to me in no way inferior to any other female Meria. " he would say sincerely as he stood by her side. He had no reason to speak untrue to her, they were master and familiar and shared a bond. If he did it would be like lying to himself...
Meria continued to look out, waiting for their destination to appear. His words were kind but...misunderstood. She looked over to him, a kind smile on her face as she bent over to face him. "That is simply a love between familiar and master. You don't love me in that way and you know that yourself." with this, she kissed him on the forehead and turned back over the plank. After a while, placing her hand over her eyes to see the school come into view. She turned back to him with a bright smile "We're at the academy!
With this said and done Draél only looked to her as she placed a kiss on his forehead. He didn't quite reply to her cheerfullness, instead he grabbed her, bent her backwards and planted a kiss right on her mouth. If she struggled he would hold her still until she stopped, if she didn't he would wrap his arms around her and hold her there for as long as he felt like it. Then when he finally let go of her lips he would lick his own mouth and gently plant a kiss on her neck as he would bite into her skin. "My dear Meria... if its passion you seek from me, I shall show you love like i've done to no other woman... I don't care how long it takes for me to prove it to you" he would say as he drew just a tiny bit of her blood to drink, her warm fresh blood... along with her scent was so delicious. He could probably drink her dry... but that would probably break his heart. He gave her neck a slight kiss and smiled to her "Sorry... I guess you will need to devour a nightmare of mine to recover~" he would tease slightly. as he gently let her up unless she was too weak to stand.
She was simply smiling before Drael decide to pull something on her. Her eyes widened as she struggled for a short amount of time before stopping. She couldn't do anything right now other than hurt him, and that wasn't an option. Meria narrowed her eyes a bit, frustrated and flustered. Meria knew that he had been with many women and she was fine with that. Kind of. However, the moment he tried to make her his toy, that wasn't acceptable. Meria touched her neck and wiped off the little blood that he had drawn. She clicked her tongue but calmed herself down. "Drael...Control youself. We're just at the academy and think of all the beautiful women that will be there. I don't plan on becoming one of your toys." With that, she hopped off of the plank and turned her head, walking over to the front. Not exactly a speed walk by not slow either. My god... What was he doing? Taking my first kiss. She turned as red as a tomato but managed to supress it a bit. Meria may have done many bad things in her life but not much else. She hadn't ever kissed anyone. Not even close. The only kisses she gave were on the cheeks and forehead because that was something that was taught to her by her parents. She was taught to do that to people that she respected and loved. She sighs, frowning a bit. He didn't need to be this mean to me.
Draél decided to leave it at that, instead he looked over yonder and took a inhaled deeply of the wind. It could be among the last he would smell of the salty air of the ocean for a while, so he wanted to make it last just slightly longer. Yet as the boat pulled in closer to shore he walked up to Meria from behind reached around her... played with her pillows slightly and then gave her a light spank on the behind. "If you say so princess~" he said as he slipped past her and then leaped of the railing into the ocean. He needed to cool down after spending a little too much time pondering about possibilities, and thus decided to swim the last bit.
Meria was just looking out before Drael came up behind her, actually sexually harassing her. She stood still for about 3 seconds before things finally sank in. This!! She flipped her head around rather quickly but not fast enough since her head wasn't processing well at the moment. He sexually harassed her often but groping her was a first. The last she saw of him was when he jumped out of the boat and started swimming. This carefree pervert!! She was about to gut him but since he was gone, she sighed and pressed on her temples, a frustrated expression as her blush began to wear off. Do I have to deal with this forever? I don't understand him and his perverted-ness. Well, whatever, he'll find a woman that has to deal with that soon enough. Instead of worrying about that, she peered out of the deck and smiled. Yup. This was something to look forward to. She would have swam as well but she had on the dress she got from her parents and who knew what lurked in the sea? So, she waited as she imagined all types of possibilities for her new life her.
Meria and Drael had finally reached the school after a while, Drael reaching it faster than Meria. They spoke for a while before going their separate ways to find their dorms. Now, Here is Meria's introduction.
Meria looked around at the seemingly serene and wonderful place. She couldn't wait to spend her time in this wonderful place. All the people there seemed friendly enough. Glancing at the paper, she practically only looked at the dorm name, disregarding the actual names of her roommates. Her mother used to say, "Try not looking at the name before meeting them. Small things like this somehow change things." The thought of her mother made her smile as she took a last look at the adorable creature before heading over to the dorms. Maybe she had made a mistake by leaving with Drael but at least he was entertaining... I suppose.
Over the past years, her personality had gotten better and worse. She practiced holding a sweet smile everyday and introduced herself in the mirror all of the times. Her parents would be proud of her.
Thinking of Drael, she couldn't help but feel ticked off about before. The jerk.
Walking down the halls, she stopped in front of the dorm room as she opened it swiftly, her cherry blossom colored hair flowing gently. This was my new "home" I suppose. With that, she placed a kind smile on her face before turning to the two that were already there and bowed politely before raising her head to speak.
"It's very nice to meet you both. My name is Meria and I look forward to spending my days with you~"
They look like decent people so that's good. Their personalities couldn't be worse than Drael's tendencies at the very least. Meria looked at the both of them. The female looked sweet and the male looked... hmm... energetic. Well, whatever. Either way, as long as they are interesting, I don't care~ @Savo@Nytefall
