We could be doing something productive with our lives... instead, we're here.

A random quote from some philosopher that we'll forget in a few moments.

The woman, still unconscious, suddenly began to glow white and defuse, the two kids returning to their original forms. Conner was the first to awaken, albeit a bit groggy from the tranquilizer. He took a moment to recover, then looked around to determine where they are. His memories came back to him, and Conner realized that their worst fears had come true. Conner wasted no further time by heading over to the door, and quickly determined that there was no way to open it from the inside. They were trapped. Conner then went back fit he spot where he woke up, still thinking about their situation.

Conner looked down at Kimberly and began to wake her, but hesitated before he even touched her. He didn't want her to see that they had failed to escape. However, Conner resolved himself and shook Kimberly in an attempt to wake her up. He reasoned that she would eventually see it anyway, and they might as well make the best use of their time.

Kimberly soon awoke, also groggy, and lazily looked up and Conner. Pushing herself up, she slowly asked, "Conner... what's going on?" Conner bore a sorrowful expression as he said, "Kimberly... I'm sorry." Kimberly began to look around, noting their surroundings, then her eyes widened in shock as she recalled the events that led up to this moment, and she began to look around more frantically before returning her gaze onto Conner. "W-w-where are we? Is this..." Kimberly whispered, her fear rising. Conner merely nodded and continued, "We got caught, it seems."

Kimberly looked away from Conner to stare into space, then curled into a ball, clutching her legs and her head resting on her knees. "No... no... please, no..." Kimberly whispered to herself, tears flowing from her eyes and her entire body shaking. Conner hugged her tightly, trying to comfort her as best he could. He desperately wanted to say things like how everything would be alright or how they would escape no matter what, but he held his tongue back on that. He had no intention on making promises he couldn't keep. Instead, what he said was, "Kimberly, I know how you feel, but we can't just feel sorry for ourselves. We'll need to work for our freedom if we want to escape." Kimberly did not move from her position, only sobbing gently every now and again.

Meanwhile, Conner took the time to make a second observation of the room, noting how surprisingly comfortable it was. Before he could think about it further, the door to the room opened, and a surprisingly young-looking guy with armed guards entered. Conner was not swayed by his friendly expression, but decided that it was better to comply for now. "Come on, Kimberly," Conner said to her, who slowly got up and began to walk with her head down. Conner kept an arm wrapped around her, guiding her to where they had to go.

When they arrived, Conner was rather surprised to see just how... normal everything seemed. He expected some sort of torture device or lab equipment, but there were just chairs. The person at the front of the room also looked surprisingly friendly, though Conner still didn't trust any of it.

Then came the lengthy explanation about the aliens called "L'mina", their practice of "paracannibalism", and the existence of everyone's powers. Kimberly raised her head as she listened, gaining the hope that they were not in fact here to be experimented on. Conner had to admit, the drider-like creature was definitely something that looked like it never originated from Earth, and the story almost sounded crazy enough to be true, but Conner still had questions to ask.

"Your appearance is shocking, sure, but not exactly definitive proof that your story is true," Conner stated. "Why should we trust you at all, especially after you kidnapped us and everything?"

PST BROTHER!

And NOW it's New Years!!!!

*cue fireworks*
It's still not New Years yet for me, but in about 20 minutes it will.
Leander was overjoyed to see the girl, who introduced herself as Tsukiko Ikushirou, shook his hand. His very first friend here was made. Unfortunately, Tsukiko's brother, who she referred to as Shinrei, did not shake his hand, but that was ok. Leander knew the saying, "If at first you fail to succeed, try and try again." So, that is what he would do in order to get Shinrei to be his friend.

As for class, however, things were moving along, and Shinrei was one of the people being mentioned by the instructor's lesson. Leander listened intently, determined not to miss a word. When the instructor called for volunteers to do an Action Duel, Leander wasted no time being one of the first few people to volunteer. "Ooh, ooh, pick me, pick me!" Leander said frantically, waving his hand furiously. He had no idea what made an Action Duel different from a regular Duel, but he could tell that being in one was a sure way to figure it out.
It's still new years eve for me.
Hey @Xeiyenreisha, you gonna make a reply to Leander after Satoshi does whatever he does this time, or before?

As much fun as it is to mess around with Shinrei, it kinda bothers me that we tend to be behind in the story.
Everywhere I go is peer pressure for me to redownload Skype.
A loud and annoying ringing began sounding from a nearby alarm clock, causing Conner to calmly get up and shut the alarm off. Rubbing some faint exhaustion out of his eyes, Conner began his usual routine of getting ready for the day. Brushing his teeth, washing his face, etc, etc. When Conner first came here, he wasn't sure what to think of the place. He didn't trust it, really. After all, a school where people with "gifts" like him could get help and be protected sounded just too good to be true. In Conner's mind, it was not possible. Sure, he came here to avoid his father, but that didn't mean he would just decide to trust the place.

So, Conner spent the month learning what he could about the academy. He learned the names and faces of everyone he came across. He learned the locations and uses of each place he visited during the tours. He even studied how the scientists and doctors who examined the students' bodies acted. After 3 and 1/2 weeks, though, Conner finally came to the conclusion that this school was truly here to help people like him. This was the safest place for him.

With a sigh, Conner left his dorm room and headed to another nearby dorm room, then knocked on the door by rapping his knuckles on the door three times. After a brief period of waiting, the door opened, revealing a brown-haired girl wearing pajamas and a cap, who clearly looked like she just got out of bed. "'Morning, Conner," Kimberly greeted sleepily, but cheerfully. "What's up?"

"Today's the first day," Conner said, while also tapping his watch. "Seven. Thirty." For a moment, Kimberly was confused, but as her mind caught up, her eyes widened in surprise and she slammed the door closed as she rushed back to get ready. Conner merely leaned against a wall and waited as Kimberly got ready for the day.

Eventually, Kimberly threw the door open, now fully awake and ready for the first day of the academy. "Sorry for the wait, Conner! Let's go!" Kimberly said cheerfully, which put a small smile on Conner's face as well before he turned away and asked, "You know where we're going, right?" Kimberly playfully indignantly replied, "Of course I know! It's the training room." Conner continued on, "Good, good. Just making sure."

Eventually, the two arrived at the entrance of the Training Center. Conner pla ed his hand on the fingerprint scanner, and the door opened with an approving beep, followed by a feminine robotic voice saying, "Welcome, Conner." Entering the rather spacious area, Conner and Kimberly made their way to the hallway where the two instructors were waiting, along with Daniel the Eco-Nazi, Casper, and another kid that even Conner didn't know the name of.

"Good morning, everyone!" Kimberly said cheerfully, raising a hand in greeting. Conner merely grunted and nodded, also raising a hand in greeting.
