Absolutely astounded... Blown away. Received the best feedback on any writing piece I've ever done and I honestly have no words to express how good it feels to see the work pay off.

I remember - you guys were a blast over there too, I lurked now and then. Gosh, it's been a while. XD

Can anybody tell how slow my day at work has been? :p
This is probably the most popular, kept-up thread on this entire site. O_O I remember when Cara was all excited about it and it was just a baby thread. Look at you guys go. XD
What's up with people who make a sheet for an RP, only to drop-out/disappear without even making a single post? Like, that's the one thing I can't wrap my head around.

I think it has alot to do with "I have a character concept that I reeeaaalllyyyy like" and then they make a fully developed character with a backstory and everything which they then can't really explore... Not sure - I know I used to have a habit of losing interest quickly because my characters already went through a lot and would end up not developing or needing to develop, if that makes sense. So I've started to get a balance between life experience and naivete, which makes holding my interest a LOT easier for a lot of stuff.

But dropping without any posts or a word about it? That's a bit... well, bad. >_>
Quentin shrugged, he wasn't going to make her hang around. Some survived like she did, it was just rare around here. If you were new, there was no telling if you'd last more than a day.

"C'mon, let's get outta here, I don't like the looks of the guys up the road there and to be honest, hanging around is one of the last things on my list," He explained, shoving his hands into his pockets.

Eli watched him skeptically - this guy had a lot of bravado despite his youth and he had yet to show any kind of power. That was unnerving to say the least. Regardless, he had a point - walking away alone wouldn't be conducive to survival. While the man was confident he could take on a couple of Users by himself, he knew that getting supplies and escaping a group of them would prove to be a lot more difficult. He glanced at Jackie before giving a shrug and nodding to the newest arrival on scene.

"Gotta say, I'd rather be killed on a full stomach than an empty one. I'm in," He mused. Quentin nodded, knowing that Jackie would join or do whatever she damn well pleased.

He started to lead them through the city before finding a door to what looked like it used to be a bar built on the ground floor, in the basement of a building. It had no handle and was made of metal, like it was never really meant to be opened. They descended a few steps before arriving and he placed his hand on the hard surface. As he pulled it away, the door began to dissolve and wrap his arm in cloth, finally disappearing from view entirely and leaving him with a rather large piece of fabric, letting the other two in before stepping over the threshold himself and replacing the metal "blockade" as it were. It took a minute or so to get the transmutation done, but he did this one so often that the difference and shape and consistency was just the most convenient for him.

"Yo, Kabal, you in? Got a newbie here!"
"She's not evil, just hungry," He explained to the obvious looks of incredulity. "Needs kind of run the world out here..." As the white-haired woman began to walk away, Quinten crossed his arms and cocked an eyebrow, "This place has seen a lot of shit. Nobody really travels alone - you'll die if you don't at least tag along with somebody. Besides, there's more where that came from and a lot less people standing around, waiting for you to approach so that they can kill you and take anything and everything you've got." His voice was stern and matter-of-fact as Alina tried to slip away, his eyes not leaving her. "What's their to lose? You'll die out there by nightfall - there isn't a place in this city that's left to hide yourself, not a good one anyway, that isn't already inhabited. And trust me, you don't want to step on other people's toes out here... They're not so forgiving."

Eli was a bit occupied with Jackie's excited leap toward the food and he looked her over curiously. Her tail slammed repeatedly into the ground in excitement and he placed his hands in his pockets, rocking on his heels as the sound filled the street. "Quite an appetite," he observed as she dug into the sandwich, his own gaze moving to his tail, watching the drill spin and stop, getting the hang of its control. Never know when you might need it again, he figured - just in case he didn't find another power or ever used hers again, it was always good to get a feel for one the first time you used it. "You were... born on the island?" He asked, rubbing the back of his neck, how old was she? Couldn't be over eighteen and she'd lived her whole life in hostile captivity. "You don't ever think of trying to escape or anything?" Not that any User had ever successfully done so - at least not to his knowledge. But still, one would think that they'd try.
@clericbeast @shylarah on the recommendation that I ping the interested people who haven't already come aboard. Ahoy!
Elijah crossed his arms as the girl burst forth from behind him. Part of him egged him on to stop her, but the other part knew Alina would be able to handle herself. And if not, well... As she had said, more food, right? He watched passively as Alina was able to block the attack with her large blade. He looked to the ground and found a little rock, his gaze kind of just boredly hovering around before he picked it up and tossed it into the air before letting it fall back to his palm. To be honest, the reality of this place either wasn't sinking in, or he honestly didn't care as much as he thought he did, repeating the process of tossing the rock into the air and catching it.

As the two faced off, the former UDF officer noticed something moving in a nearby alleyway and furrowed his brow, throwing the small rock at whatever it was. "Hey, get out here!" He shouted, readying the tail he was still getting used to. A blond figure stepped out, a cigarette between his lips with his hands in the air.

"Hey, hey... Calm down, bucko. I'm Quentin - I was actually on my way out cause I saw the containers drop. Like everybody else - just wanted to make sure you didn't get killed if it wasn't supplies in there," He confessed. The pistol at his hip conveyed a different message, but at least it wasn't in his hand.

The mimic watched him skeptically, "Elijah... Don't go sneaking around in shadows, that's a surefire way to get yourself killed."

Quincy laughed and shook his head, "It's also a much easier way to kill somebody, newbie. You clearly haven't been here long." He looked to the two girls and back to Eli, "Are they fighting over... you?"

Elijah laughed, "Oh, no... Uh... I don't know, exactly. That one there attacked me twice before I left my container, so I really don't know."

"Yeah, easy enough," the man noted, pulling the bag off his back and reaching inside, giving a loud whistle. "Yo, Jackie! Here, now you can stop trying to kill random people," He shouted, pulling a wrapped up steak sandwich out and tossing it her way as soon as she looked over.

Hiresh nodded, "That makes sense, but you guys have a lot to learn there too. Earth bending takes a lot longer, but really it's just pushing around rocks. It's more mental than anything else. In Zaofu, you should see some of the softies... Some of them live so freakin' pampered that they don't shift a chunk of earth until they're like fifteen or sixteen. It's sad, and they don't even seem to care. I remember learning about Kuvira in school, and I was no history buff, but they talked about her mastery over bending... How far it got her. And while I don't think she was a good person, I think there's a lot we could learn from her, y'know? That's the kind of strength I want," He said ambitiously, realizing that he was kind of going out on a tangent.

"I'm nowhere near a master yet, but to achieve that takes a lot more than being a good bender... Got a long way to go, but I'll get there. If you're ever in Zaofu, ask for the Sudhirs - I keep in touch, I'm sure my family would be happy to have visitors. Not a lot of people go to Zaofu anymore, even though they encourage tourism nowadays. It's a once in a lifetime trip, I promise you that."

Within minutes, Siku felt the temperature of the water leveling out and heating back up - which was good, as warming an entire bath took a bit of concentration and only lasted a little bit. Thankfully, Asha had managed to get the fire going outside and it began to warm up properly. The girl sunk even more deeply into it, until the water was just below her nose, the current around her gently swirling as she idly twirled her hand. Something in the back of her mind tugged at her... Was she forgetting something? No, probably not. It must not be that impo- CLOTHES. Her eyes widened in fear and embarrassment as she realized what she had forgotten and the kind of situation she was in now. Her face turned a hot shade of red as she sunk all the way to the bottom of the small pool and remained there, almost pouting, for as long as she could hold her breath. She sighed and began to wash... Time to face the music. Katsu was going to pay if he said a single word. As she stepped from the water, the girl swept her hands downward, clearing most of the water from her skin. She then put her hair up in one towel, as bending the water from one's hair was far less effective at maintaining a clean and proper look unless it was an emergency (ie. sewer water), and wrapped the other around her entire midsection. Didn't the air nomads use longer towels at all..? Ugh, this was a nightmare.

The girl leaned out of the door, poking her head out just a little bit. Down the hall, she could hear Asha and Hiresh talking. Just when she was about to call out to her younger friend, she saw what was lying on the floor and was probably felt more relief wash over her in that instant than she ever had before. Swiping the clothes (no vambraces or hip guards), she shut the door and put them on, removing the towel from her head before stepping out of the bathroom and simply disposing of the slightly tattered, disgusting outfit she was supposed to wear to a nice, friendly dinner.

The true surprise came when she noticed there was no sign of Katsu... "Thank you, Asha... So much," She said sincerely, obviously meant more for remembering the clothing than anything else. "Now, where'd that ass run off to now?"

Hideki nodded in understanding, letting Katsu get all of his thoughts out before making a clear and measured response. "I'm not here to take you back, Katsu," He started, "I'm here to let you go. The White Lotus was institutionalized for the best of intentions, but it's been that way for too long now. It was great for the time it lasted, but everything changes and I know the organization can live on as it used to. They pushed you because for the past century every Avatar has needed to learn their crafts quickly and then pick up on the finer details later. Not since Avatar Roku has an Avatar had the time or ability to learn the elements one by one. I know you were already starting to bend earth before you left and I don't doubt you've evaded finding a master since then... As you were wholly uninterested in learning anything from anybody except yourself," The Grand Lotus gave his charge a cheeky smirk.

"... Katsu, the White Lotus you know, and the real White Lotus are two different things now. The men who came for you today, apparently only a few of them were mine. I apologize... Deeply, for my oversight. I don't know how we were infiltrated, but I suppose I have placed too much trust in the rest of the administration. Unofficially, as of today, the White Lotus will no longer be. I've already placed my resignation and I'll no longer be the Grand Lotus by tomorrow. Of course, they'll want to keep careful eyes on me, so I have to be gone by tonight."

The firebender paused and let out a slow, pained breath, "I'm sorry Katsu, but... You will too. And I really hate to say this, but your friends in there are in danger if they stick around Republic City for more than a couple of weeks as well. You'll be walking on eggshells while these people, whoever they are, are looking for you. The ones who defended you in the attack tonight are going to be witnesses - witnesses who actually know what happened in that restaurant. They'll need to gather their things and leave too, save for Hiresh. He'll be staying. I have some contacts on the force and I'm sure they'll actually want his help..."

"This isn't a suggestion. I know I'm not the boss of you and I know you don't want to hear it, so I'm not going to tell you which path to take. Even if the world doesn't need you to be an Avatar now, it needs you to exist and survive in case it does... Mankind cannot maintain this balance without you, Katsu. This peace... It could last days or centuries - but it will never exist infinitely. That is why we need you. It isn't a burden you've asked for, but it's the one you bear." Hideki's gaze was truly apologetic; he knew how difficult it must be for Katsu to handle a lifestyle he never chose. But that didn't mean he could abandon it, "In the end, it's up to you, but staying and fighting just... isn't going to work. I don't know how far up the chain this thing goes and I don't know how powerful they are. I think today, they relied on the element of surprise. I know people at the Air Temples, if you'd like to progress your training. If you'd rather just leave and move on, that is entirely your choice too. But do not abandon the people who helped you survive tonight - promise me that. Those men would have easily overpowered the few loyal members of the White Lotus had it not been for Hiresh and Asha. They would have given chase had Siku not been right behind you. Of this, I'm sure."

Now that he was finished with the long-winded, sincerely apologetic explanation, Yakedo gave Katsu the chance to say anything he wanted to before they were once again the presence of others.
At first, Eli thought that the girl with the drill was referring to people as her food and his skin crawled. Then the obvious hit him - of course, she was competing for rations. Being born here probably made her less than sympathetic to the lives she took and the need for food came before the need for morals. If she were to be the first to befriend anybody coming out of those containers, though, she could have a small army of her own. If she weren't so batshit crazy, she might even be able to get a little following going.

The Mimic was too put off by Alina's harsh words to give much more thought to it, however. His own demeanour remained steadfast, "Don't sit there and try to act like some goody-goody. Are you kidding me? If you would have just let the UDF do their jobs and never used your power in the first place, I wouldn't have taken it myself in front of anybody. But no - how do you fight a big-ass sword like that? With one's own big-ass fucking sword. That's how. You should've kept your nose out of business that you had nothing to do with!" He shouted in response, staring daggers past her vulgar finger and unintentionally causing the drill on his new tail to spin as his anger flared up.

At the back of his mind, he'd have to remember to ask the smaller girl her name and clarify that he referred to where she had come from for the day, for her little exploration, not in general.
