Bio

Role Play Preferences:[/b] Pretty much everything except playing other characters and most slice of life plots. Elastic on most shit.

Fandoms: Silent hill, Homestuck, Bioshock(1-2) and pretty much all of HP lovecraft's stuff.

Personality: Ambiguously ?????????????????.

Favorite Homestuck characters: In order: Eridan, Karkat, gamzee, John.

Hate kanaya and Jade.

My Homestuck class: Bard of Void

Likes: Scented Candles, Writing, RP'ing-in almost any form really. Even if I haven't tried it before- Pixel Art, Making things period, Dressing up in my mad mass. Talking to folks. <3 that understand what I say all the time without me having to tame my tongue.

Dislike: Political talk-light prods for opinions are fine though if private- Being tied down. Talking about myself too much. Playing party therapist, Edgy shit.

Pretty approachable, most of the time I'm all fine with, motherfucking. dancing down a door way to someone else grounds to chill. I tend to either be chilling or drilling the oil out of the works so random absence or silences are a normal.

Meh. I would just do something simple, like. Create a intro log that explains the launch date. Then just cut to them arriving at their galaxy they are meant to seed on the date. The rest happens on that date. The epilogue can be the empire-or the seeded cities- response to the outcome.

It's sort of NRP. It has factions. Ships, solders. Citizens, cultures and shit. It's just that. The seeding ship is the "capital" at least until it lands. Then the city it makes become the capital.

Thanks, brother.

@ClocktowerEchos

What about you, clock. I like your idea, any concept on how we're gonna point it and limit. Since we were talking about the issue of power gaming too much. Like, even we tech cap it.
@Darkraven

Yeah. I know, my coal colored avian. Got to keep in mind that right now my brain is more flexed than an insecure body builder trying to show off right now.

Home worlds aren't. The time taken to move even between star systems is massive, even if. By space standards it's only like 40 years. Lets assume, somehow. That is the case. A ship entering a galaxy has to prepare the trip 40 years in advanced. If someone wins the initial meet up Once that system is seeded it's going to need an over whelming, very, very fast force to take it out. Without ftl you got to rely on pure size.

Even if you have a thriving native planet empire. It's still sending ships and tech that will probably be out of date when it reaches. As e can probably assume that with laser tech or something we can send data-and thus the seeded city will be able to build up to date stuff on the stuff..or at least faster- Native planets are an equation, it's just...well..liek you said...without ftl drives....the distance sort of fuck their military planning alot.

But..I think we might be derailing the thread a little. With time included for distance, story wise for that war. The generation had won.

@ClocktowerEchos

Shit, brother. I like your brain goop.
@Darkraven

To seed a planet. Probably a couple of hundred of people on one large ship, realistically. With some escort ships of some sort out of pragmatism. How they live to their seeding point is many. From generation to simply using uploaded minds.

Earth currently is totally colonized and we barely have enough tech to peek outside our own tiny sol system. The empire assumes two things, one. The native planet is totally ruled by one faction, if so. That planet has a large amount of land and finally their original galaxy have many planets with a lot of land.

Maybe I confused star systems with galaxies. Which, would make sense. But I get what you are saying.

Finally. Seeding is not a one stop drop. It's much easier to have a set up crew- which would be a smaller force. Then gradually send more people over time in bulks. As only so many populations will move just to seed a new planet-

That's what I'm talking about man. Do you have any idea what it takes to colonise galaxies of that of that scale, even small ones? To cross the gulf between galaxies? If we're allowed to do that at the start of the NRP, then I say it's no fun. Even with the restrictions you proposed.

No offense, but my point stands.

I know, I was supporting it. Let me rephrase. When I say galaxies attacking galaxies. I mean along the lines of. A single galaxy is prime seeding and in a realistic-aka dosen't take thousands of years of traveling- to seed.

Each faction arrive there in a race to seed it first. Starting the first attempt to colonize the stars. AKA, old colonial wars but in space. Sorry, I'm a bit tired so it might of sounded like I was talknig about galaxies of forces launching large campaigns against each other casually.

race-meaning taking shit loads of time on generational ships-

Moving into the idea of a NRP before the climax of societies powers.

There are a lot of options. A sci-fi nrp dosen't have to have ships. Maybe ships are an additional extension of the army and not the bulk. Like, fleets of space navies exist but unless you want to bombard a planet into crisp. Figuratively, doing so in a pre-ftl stage of tech for empires would be like nuking Earth.
----------------

Could be interesting to have a war in a smaller, more contain nugget of galaxy. Maybe even say...a stand off between races/planets for a single galaxy that have sent ships before hand decades ago. So the powers that be could be strong, even advanced. But the numbers there are limited.

once the faction already there is gone. That's it. No other of the empires ships are coming for like 50 years. Even then, any ships that arrive would be crazy out of date to attack said galaxy. That way..we can have a galactic war thats tone down, while having the big, crazy societies and races. Defeat is not some dramatic fall of an empire, just the start of a new space colonial age and an indication of who is going to have a good start.

Possibility for a continuation of story later on too despite who wins.

@ClocktowerEchos

Running with this. It would probably be a good idea to have a point system, a basic one.

I suggest that instead of limiting the empire you limit the origins. AKA: each point dictates what kind of starting planet they have.

A glorified rock. A mineral planet. A terra like resource rich one.

Is their starting galaxy easy to move about in. You know, does it have asteroid, weird stars. A black hole near. Points for that.

That way there can be...I dunno..blob brains in spaces suits with cool super suit tech. But the enviromental/outer limits logically cripple them.

Take a train ride out to the rural side. At this place is where my brother died. Not strong enough to go together, now I go back despite the weather. Every time at every year, it always back to the same old tears. Wake me up like he used to do, now I wake up in sweats in dreams of you.

If only I was not a coward, taken for play by darker powers. Adult hood came early for us, betrayed those I trust. All the things we valued most. This is the year we give them toast, it is time to say goodbye to pretty things. Like dignity, dreams and homecomings.

Bye brother. See you in my next nightmare.

Is what I would say if I was an interesting character from a thriller novel.

But really.

It's flue season and near Christmas, who's up for being a snot supplier while everything from your shoes to your shitter is plastered for sale in ads.

"Give it to me straight, doctor. How bad is it?"

"You have cancer"

"Does this mean I can now unironically enjoy Homestuck?"

"No"

I'm still snooping and trooping, sister. In fact my stage is still got seats if you want to still join the EPOCH rp.
