The main thread will be going up at some point tomorrow. The game won't actually begin until we get a sufficient number of characters though. I'll notify everyone in this thread when it happens.
This is a WIP map of Voldoa, with brief descriptions of every district. Enjoy.

If some of you folks are still interested and want to get an early start on your character, here's the sheet.

As you can tell, it's very bare-bones. After some time I've grown pretty tired of long character sheets that reveal all the info right away. So we're doing this instead. Here's an example, using one of my characters. The description will be lengthened when the actual game starts.

Your limits go as far as you can imagine when it comes to monsters to play as. Werewolves, vampires, angels, demons, what have you, I'm not picky. However, if you wanna play a human/Engineer, gotta be a Tier II. Other two Tiers are much less workable.
Throwing in my application! Enjoy the read!

Allen requested that one of us tell you he doesn't dig it very much. Apologies.

ā€œReveal to us your form, oh Maker! So that we may behold he who gave us life!ā€
And the Maker, after years upon years of silence and secrecy, finally did as they asked of him.
Why, the myriad faces of monsterkind, disheartened to witness that their creator…
…was but a mere man.

- Excerpt from The Maker as Told

The story is told in many ways.

By scorn. Sadness. Faith.

I will tell it to you by the way I have always known…

Truth.

As long as any one man can remember, we have not been alone on this earth.

We are joined by beings of myth. Of legend. Of superstition.

We know them by many names. But we always devolve to a scant few.

Monsters. Demons. Beasts.

For centuries, we were viewed by them as food. Servants. Playthings.

And our only options were to cower in fear, or retaliate.

Whichever we chose… many of us did not survive.

But time went on. And many things changed.

They have always clung to traditions. Rituals. The arcane.

We, however…

We embraced the future. We thrived on industry. And we built the tools of our uprising.

Guns. Artillery. By smoke and metal, we usurped the position of power.

Those that once hunted us ran as we bombarded them with bullets and warheads.

Centuries of oppression, turned around in mere decades.

And they had almost been hunted to extinction…

Were it not for us.

We call ourselves ā€œthe Engineersā€. We act as saviors, providers, and guardians to non-humankind.

While the war raged on, we worked in isolation.

We built a haven for the survivors of the war. We built creatures of flesh and steel to protect it. And from its depths, we brought gifts of sustenance, endlessly.

We searched for them, found them, and guided them to this place.

And we named it…

The year is 1891. Seven years since Voldoa was founded. Two since the War of Supremacy was officially declared over by the governments of Europe.

Voldoa, to this day, still stands in the comfort of the mountain range, its existence completely unknown to the outside world. The Engineers have brought in most all of the remaining survivors of the dying conflict, brought upon by the rest of mankind. As of the most recent months, they have begun expanding their operations to areas outside the continent. New arrivals are fewer and farther between now but, those that are already present have all made suitable homes for themselves. All sorts of beings and creatures that folks read about in books and plays, all living under the watchful vigil of the Engineers.

There are, however, mysteries. Questions intentionally left unanswered. Why have the Engineers done this? What are they looking to gain from it? What lies in the Undercity that they may bring up countless gifts of meat, flesh, and blood from its depths? They never say. But in the end, many forget to ask. They are, after all, happy.

And as well as that, they are safe.

So if you’re reading this and you’re interested, first of all, welcome. Second, I have compiled a list of relevant names and terms here to better spell out the game world. Read over it, and you should have a solid idea of what to expect. If you want me to elaborate on anything, just say the word.

This will be going in the Casual section, so I won't be asking much from anyone in terms of characters or post length. I'd prefer histories and extraneous details get explained along the course of the game, which I will be playing as nonlinear as I can. There will be events and group activities and the like, but otherwise, think of this as a playground to come up with your own plots and happenings

And for the interest check, that'll be it. Hope to hear from some folks soon.
Harmon Rottlage

The beach lodge was never a frequent spot for Harmon. It was just the tiniest bit too lively for him. But something about today just… made him change his mind. After a bit of a stroll, he was situated before the building. Funnily enough, he was dressed for a beach scene – save his coat, though. There didn’t seem to be too many folks populating the exterior, in any case, which brought up Harmon’s hopes that the interior wouldn’t be too loud, and he could get his work done. Not much left, but still.

He entered through the doors and looked around. Not as few people as he’d hoped, but it seemed relaxed anyhow. Around the first floor there were some folks sitting and chatting, others taking up the consoles by the televisions, all having a generally good time. Some of them glanced at Harmon as he entered, but they didn’t make any fuss at his appearance. So, that was good.

He walked forward, towards the stairs. Only to be stopped by an extended hand.

ā€œHold up.ā€

Harmon paused and aimed the small camera clipped to his coat’s collar upward to behold the man blocking his way. Pale skin, dark blue eyes, not a strand of hair on his head. He was dressed in a staff uniform. The identification card tucked into his lapel displayed his name in small, black letters – Lawrence Barnes. He looked directly at Harmon’s camera like he knew right away where the student’s vision lied.

ā€œYou Ruben’s lab boy?ā€ Lawrence asked, in a rather hushed, stern manner. Harmon simply nodded in reply, admittedly a little frightened. The man sort of looked like… well, him. Lawrence leaned forward a little bit and spoke, directed at the camera still, ā€œThe dogs have jumped the fence.ā€ And with that, he gave Harmon no further attention and walked past him, exiting the lodge. Harmon turned and watched him leave, still quite lost. A moment of stillness passed, and he turned back towards the stairs, ascending to the second floor.

The dogs have jumped the fence...
Harmon Rottlage and Ruben Tarblatt

Oh a lady from New Hampshire, name of Mary Alan-Ghoul
Could not have done much better living in that woman’s shoe
She managed fourteen babies like the Catholics often do
And she brought ā€˜em all on down to my cathedral

Time had passed. Not much had changed.

Harmon and Ruben were both seated in the latter’s classroom. Harmon was working on assignments issued to him by other teachers running other classes (mainly math and tech related), while Ruben was adding on to the Cranial Eclipse’s protective layer with the latest batch of plucked head shards. It was after classes, so they had the room to themselves, no one bothering them. The radio was sitting on the same table they were both occupying, playing another strange song.

Now Angelique was broken, when she came out of the box
She tried to run away but wound up stickin’ to the docks
And Lazy Ann got restless while Rene reset the clocks
But they all came down to my cathedral

It was nice.

And they all came down, yeah they all came down
Oh they all came down to my cathedral
From the youngest to olden, they knelt down just like I told ā€˜em
And the sisters never spared the rod or cane

Suddenly, there was a pause in Harmon’s jotting down numbers and letters. He raised his head a bit as he began to speak. ā€œWhat… did happen… to that, that… thing?ā€

ā€œSpeaking. Of the matter. Is ill. Advised.ā€ Ruben responded, as he ran some kind of welding tool across the inner layer of the Brainvault with one tendril.

ā€œI understand, but… everyone just, just seems so… dismissive, about the experienceā€¦ā€

Jimmy-John was just a baby when his suicide was planned
And Christopher was never dealt one single winning hand
The old man hated Latin, so he signed ā€˜em up for band
And he practiced what he preaches, in a way

ā€œIt. Is not. Surprising.ā€ Ruben replied, ā€œThey. Are simply. Passing. Through. The interval.ā€

ā€œButā€¦ā€

ā€œHarmon.ā€

Now Giselle could see me sideways, and she filled me with desire
She would tease me in confession, ā€˜till I feared the mortal fire
And I know that there were others, but my mind is old and tired
But trust me when I say
That I remember to this day
How they all came down to my cathedral

ā€œYou. Took. The proper. Course. Of action. You removed. Yourself. From the situation.ā€ Ruben said, setting down his tools, turning towards Harmon. ā€œLeave. The matter. For your own. Benefit. As well. Any. Others. That may. Transpire. In. The future.ā€ There was a bit of a pause as he continued with, ā€œAnd. They will. Happen. I. Am certain.ā€

And they all came down, yeah they all came down
Oh they all came down to my cathedral
From the youngest to the olden, they knelt down just like I told ā€˜em
And the sisters never spared the rod or cane
And not one kid outlived the family name

Harmon simply sat and listened as Ruben finished speaking. ā€œThe appropriate. Measures. Will be taken. By select. Individuals. Nothing. You need. Concern. Yourself. With.ā€

Harmon slowly turned his head away. After a short moment, he said, ā€œA-… alrightā€¦ā€ He gathered up his papers, mostly done with his assignments, and stood up from his stool, deciding to take the remainder of his work elsewhere. Maybe his dorm, maybe the garden, wherever seems appropriate at the time. He walked towards the door and exited the room, and Ruben simply kept working on the Cranial Eclipse.

And they all came down
To the center of the town
Yeah they all came down to my cathedral
My cathedral
My cathedral
My cathedral
My cathedral
My cath-

The radio cut out.

Part of the song.

HEY YOU.

WHAT'RE YOU DOING HERE.

NO.
@SepticGentleman Issok, although I would like know what the thing he shouted at the end means.

The faculty of making a fortunate discovery through means of an unfortunate accident.
Short post, sorry, thoughts are pretty scattered right now.
