It all began sometime in the mid-2000s.

We don’t know what the start of it was. Natural mutations in our DNA, some crazy science experiment, or straight up sorcery… doesn’t matter. We stopped asking that question a long time ago. Earth, for a while, was home to both us normal humans, and beings who were… different. More powerful. More dangerous. You’ve heard plenty enough about it already, surely. Folks with godlike powers, some who transform into beasts and the like. It’s easy to imagine, so let’s not dwell on the details.

Now what do you think happened next? In the stories you’ve read, the movies you’ve seen, things always work out, don’t they? Humans and mutants, supers, whatever you want to call them, always end up coexisting to an extent? That didn’t happen here. You give a kid pyrokinesis and he’ll always end up starting fires. As soon as it started, it became a problem. There were mass murders. There were entire cities brought to ruin. Whatever conflict there was between nations was quickly diverted towards handling ā€œthe nonhuman problemā€. The most common enemy, you could say.

Now admittedly, a good number of nonhumans weren’t the all-powerful monsters so described here. A lot of them were decent people just trying to live their lives normally, or even help with the situation. But the bad outweighed the good. The animosity was too prevalent. Things just kept going further and further downhill. Camps were set up to detain any and all confirmed and even potential nonhumans, from old folks to newborn kids. There was a joint effort between several technologically-focused companies to design a state-of-the-art system to keep track of them all. And that came in the form of a certain artificial intelligence. We’ll focus on her later.

Eventually, humans reached their limit. Despite their success in protecting their people and preserving their technologies, the planet was still being constantly ravaged by rogue parties of nonhumans, and even lone individuals who were powerful enough to take on armies. Earth, as far as they were concerned, was doomed. Every day, humans were being slaughtered and driven away from their homes the world over.

And so they left.

Operation Exodus. The epitome of spaceflight technology, ships designed and produced by every major company around the globe, all launched in a single day, carrying the tools to build the future of mankind. They brought as many humans off the planet as they could with plans of colonizing Mars, Europa, and if need be, further expansion to other areas of the solar system. The remainder of Earth’s entire online connectivity and technological canon were either destroyed or shut down once they departed. Everything else was left to the nonhumans. Any normal folks who didn’t make it to the ships in time either got killed, or did themselves in. Whatever the case, before long there were no humans left on planet Earth. It was all nonhumans the world over.

They didn’t completely destroy the planet like many thought they would. But they certainly changed it. Lingering satellites showed the far-gone colonies what the nonhumans left on Earth were doing. They were still fighting amongst themselves for the worst reasons, leaving entire nations in ruin. But a lot left over ended up building their own societies, even constructing their own cities and technologies using their myriad powers. So in the end, it did work out for both sides. Humans managed to live on in the further reaches of the solar system, and nonhumans got to keep their playground.

It didn’t last.

The year is now 2104. Eighteen years after Operation Exodus was launched. The nonhuman occupants of Earth have, to an extent, settled down. Their cities are still running and their numbers are slowly increasing. There are still many who roam the globe causing problems for the rest, but they get dealt with. Eventually, it settled into a routine. Until some humans decided to come back.

World Patriots. A splinter organization that was founded on Mars, shortly after the newly formed Systems Government began colonization. They started with the goal of one day returning to and retaking Earth, eradicating all nonhuman life. Saving the cradle of mankind, as they would put it. But they knew going up against the enemy themselves would be plain suicide. Thus, against the best wishes of SysGov, the World Patriots poured countless resources harvested from the colonies into constructing leagues upon leagues of proxy forces. Automated drones, tanks, mobile platforms, any line and model they had the designs for. Everything was gathered up into one massive fleet. A single command vessel, and several dozen foundry ships.

And they set a course for Earth.

I expect this RP to be full of Metal Gear references.

Deborah will for sure get played like a damn fiddle.
Here is my first character. Founder and leader of the World Patriots. More are definitely coming after him, once the thread is up.

@SepticGentleman
Hmm dratz then- I understand your reasoning for the powers of Precognition to be banned but the idea of my new revamped Precognition matches the predictive power of Andrew's ability to see muscle movement and see his opponent's actions. Instead of muscle movements, he basically receives visions as if it was a forgotten thought being remembered but that would just be repetitive. If you want you can just make the power GM-controlled and just shoot me random Private Messages that might affect the roleplay through these visions and since the power is not fairly trained you and wreck havoc by sending misleading clues that will cause drama but if not I'll change it into something else. Basically its all up to you, but I don't mind if its being changed

And yes, the the file does take place during pre-Exodus as Andrew probably can't live with himself after being ditched by the Government and being with the Mutants that was his job to kill. So after the Exodus event, Andrew probably kept to himself and laying low not doing much of anything interesting. So I'll just put my effort into making his story before then interesting if I am up to the deal

I dunno. There being two folks with this kind of precognitive ability just seems pretty redundant to me. If I were you I'd start considering other powers, but I'm going to talk to the think tank about possible workarounds.

For now though, I slumber. Later on, the official thread will go up. Take care folks.
@GummyCat It's not really time manipulation as it is observation. Allen already made a character with something pretty much summarized as clairvoyance and I was okay with it, but it's not so potent enough that his character already knows the outcome of the entire conflict. And that in itself is what I would be very not okay with. Plus there was just straight up mention of time travel by envisioning for Andrew. So he won't work as he is right now.

Also, the wording implicates it as a file documented by some kind of training program. Am I correct in assuming it's all pre-Exodus?
Here are the rules, as of current. Split into two sections for both sides of the conflict. More may be added before the official thread goes up.
WORLD PATRIOTS

  • All World Patriots are normal humans. No exceptions.
  • There are no human survivors left on Earth. Plenty of malicious nonhumans were very thorough in their pursuit to kill every remainder of them. If you're human, you're a World Patriot, and you're on their ship.
  • World Patriots don’t have one specific uniform style, but they are keen on the colors maroon, gray, black, and white.
  • All World Patriots live aboard the same vessel, the Horizon of Reclamation. They do not leave the ship under any circumstances, not even to board the unmanned foundry ships that hold all the proxy forces. Everything in the foundries is either automated or controlled from the main vessel.
  • Customs come in countless shapes, sizes, and forms. Humanoid, quadrupedal, flight-based, etcetera. They can be built from older or newer bases of technology; rough and segmented or sleek and shiny. The size limit is pretty substantial, but I am not allowing anything along the lines of this or this.

NONHUMANS

  • No reality benders. Period.
  • Understand that there is a difference between super powers and straight up magic. The ability to, say, make portals? That's fine, it's a mental projection thing. Very utilitarian. But spells and sigils and hexes and curses, whatever, simply don't belong here.
  • "Shadow powers" come in many iterations. The general consensus among myself and my co-GMs are that they are usually very unsavory, being that they have little to do with actual shadows. If a nonhuman can generate orbs of dark purple energy or radiate an aura of fear, that's not a shadow-based power. So, if you wanted to veer that way, heed these words.
  • Time control is just too meta. Heightened reflexes are one thing, but temporal manipulation is just asking to be shot down.
  • "Death manipulation" is right out.
  • "Blood manipulation" and mind control are both just really, really difficult powers to justify. Even if a character with such an ability is meant to be evil, they have a habit of causing problems for other characters and their players in the long run. So both are no-nos.

How could that ever make anyone mad? That scene is nothing but pure ecstasy mixed with sheer testosterone.

Some people are faithful to the Metal Gear games. Other people are faithful to the Metal Gear games.

That scene made me so damn mad.

"YES, YES, SPLIT IT WIDE OPEN."

Boris says, as he masturbates furiously.
Hai Hai, this seems interesting idea and I'll be stalking the page o3o

(p.s: I expect those who were lawful superpowered humans that were working for the government to be left behind as well despite their loyalties due to suspicious and probably majorities vote?)

Right on the money. Loyal as they were, having them on the evac ships simply wasn't acceptable to the majority.
So, question. How are we planning on getting everyone involved with one another if we're on different sides and belong to different townships and such?

Conflicts are going to start pretty much everywhere when Homecoming launches and WP forces get deployed worldwide. There will be plenty of rally calls and the like to get peoples' shit in gear.
