An ancient race evolved from wolves. Though they attained humanoid form through , they still possess lupine ears. Due to their strong ties with magic through the aeons, they possess the ability to metamorphose; it is unknown if it is a permanent change or a temporary one.
Gender: Male Age: 22 Occupation: Wandering Swordmage
Personality/Interests Sessamaru is a kind and compassionate youth, revering all forms of life with a sense of joy. Comfortable as a wanderer, he does not let his own personal baggage weigh down his steps and he never looks back on the pain brought upon him. The swordsman tends to be polite and well-mannered, despite being an easily distracted goof. Sess, by his very nature, prefers his own personal freedom and despises oppression, whether it's directed at him or at someone else. Easy-going and lax, it is difficult to anger the young man and even more difficult to coax him into a fight. He is quite clever and intelligent, which he uses to his advantage in order to avoid harming or killing those who happen to force him into a fight. He hates the idea of killing others, though he is quick to protect anyone in need of help.
Sess is renowned for his modesty and lacks pride, though he does have a realistic view of his own power when up against an opponent who either underestimates or overestimates his abilities. He is unwilling to take credit for anything that he has done or in things others believed that he has done, and is quick to give credit to someone else, especially if it gets him out of an unwanted bind. However, in serious matters, he will not allow anyone to be judged or punished for crimes that they have committed, never once speaking out about it, giving his opponents a chance to atone for their sins and wrongdoings.
Sympathetic, the Dearmadta is ruled by his own emotions, whether for a goofy act or for serious matters. He refrains from acting on his anger, keeping a cool head in the heat of battle. Regardless of all his upcomings, his greatest downfall is his appetite and curiosity. He tends to eat multiple meals in a single sitting, as though his stomach was a black hole. In truth, he eats, not only out of pleasure and the scarceness of food in his travels, but because of the amount of energy he tends to expend during his "meditations" and "training" in the wee hours of the morning and the coming of twilight. His curiosity, too, tends to get him into trouble, often entering disputes and forced to resolve them, and then some.
Appearance Sessamaru is heavily androgynous, though he leans more towards female in appearance than male, as evident by how often he is mistaken for a young girl. He has an oval face with prominently high cheekbones and almond-shaped eyes, his thick mane possessing a sharp widow's peak, and his brows are slender and have a slight arch to them. He's very human-looking in appearance, though his lupine ears are the only thing separating him from the rest of mankind.

Unique Abilities
Enhanced Speed: Unlike most races, the Dearmadta are naturally swift, capable of outrunning most other humanoids and monsters. This evolutionary trait was built upon chasing, herding, and eventually out-maneuvering prey. Due to this strong genetic trait, the Dearmadta are feared for their speed.
Enhanced Agility: Due to their immense speed, the Dearmadta's possess enhanced maneuverability to go with their speed, capable of altering their course with precision without losing their speed in the process.
Enhanced Reflexes: A byproduct of the enhanced speed and agility, the reflexes of the Dearmadta are beyond preternatural. Due to the heightened state of a Dearmadta's mobility and maneuverability, their reflexes are what prevents the Dearmadta from harming themselves with their own power; this defensive ability allows them a greater advantage in battle.
Enhanced Stamina: Another racial trait, the Dearmadta have an increased amount of stamina due to the hunting ancestry of their race in order to keep up with their prey and still have energy to go in for the kill. Because of this, the Dearmadta are capable of holding their own in battle and still have enough stores of energy to continue to the next opponent.
Heightened Hearing: The lupine ears of Dearmadta are not only cute, but they are practical. They can pick up enough noise on varying frequencies within a single establishment; even though the hearing of a Dearmadta is great, it is also detrimental to them at high frequencies (such as a dog whistle).
Nightvision: Due to their ancestral origins, the Dearmadta can see in the dark with great clarity, as though the entire land was cast in twilight.
Accelerated Metabolism: Due to the heightened speed, stamina, and magical power that a Dearmadta possesses, they have an accelerated metabolism. This metabolism is what allows them to remain slender, yet it also demands more food than what most humanoids require. Whereas a human needs only three full meals to be healthy, a Dearmadta's body demands four-times as much; due to their society and etiquette, the Dearmadta still have three meals a day by using four full-course meals per individual for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Though they are often seen as polite, a meal with a Dearmadta would show how voracious their appetites are... and they're quite messy.
Longevity: Unique to the Dearmadta, they have extended lifespans and appear to possess their youth until death. It is unknown how long a Dearmadta can live, but it is known that, despite their god-like lifespans, they are still capable of dying by other means than just old age.
Aeromancy: Magic that focuses on wind and air, Sess is capable of embuing those attributes to his own body and weapon for greater battle-efficiency. On top of his natural speed, he can use the magic to increase it. Not only this, but he can create a wind/air-cushion around his blade to prevent any killing strikes as well as blades of wind. His might and cleverness with aeromancy is equal to that of his race's reputation.
Electromancy: Due to his talent with aeromancy, Sess is adept at lightning magic, capable of generating electricity. He dislikes its use, due to the strain the body-augmentation spells causes on his body and its killing capacity. It can be said that this is his trump card.
Rose Petals & Illusions: Due to his attunement to nature and his acute magical power, Sess has an unusual aura that manifests in rose petals. The rose petals, combined with his discipline, can be used to create minor illusions, like life-like clones. He can also use the rose petals as a veil to misdirect his opponents and even give them a scent. The rose petals, however, do not have any substance aside from having a visual and olfactory existence when manifested from his raw power.
Due to the Dearmadta's saturation with magic through the passing aeons, the magical energies of the world allowed them the ability to change their appearance. This ability has made them god-like figures throughout history due to the increase of magical and physical power.
Sess does not currently have access to this ability.
Despite his overall abilities, Sess is physically weak and has little to no hand-to-hand combat capability. He is quite fragile and can be easily overpowered by a physically stronger opponent, especially if that opponent can mimic his speed (if not faster). He is also easily overwhelmed when his stamina runs out (due to hunger), which is quite possible due to his reliance on magic against bigger and stronger opponents. As stated previously, Sess's magical power is directly linked to his metabolism, as are his other abilities (both passive and active); the more he uses them, the faster he drains his stamina.
Welcome to REGENESIS! I am so glad this got some measure of support. To put it simply: this world is yours and mine, with scarcely a thing in it. You can create the setting anywhere you want! Except for key places... the Major Cities. Don't make a post for them, don't even create them. Not just yet. The Major Cities are centuries ahead of the rest of the world, and the only thing that the rest of the world shares are communications and some vehicular travel. This is to keep everything tame while I build up major story arcs (which, in turn, will unlock the city for future RP use). Otherwise, you can create forests, mountains, deserts, plains, villages and towns, and anything you desire. Though this may limit the freedom I've granted you to a degree, it just wouldn't do to begin with players who already have access to a techno-magic hotspot, now would it? Plus, in the RP, it will be easier for me to describe the fusion of technology and magic to a much better extent than the explanation here in the OOC. But! Please feel free to PM me an idea or request for a gadget that you think would be nice. Not because you need my permission, but so I can take a look at it... and then say no if I think it's too... powerful.
Aside from this, this RP is primarily story-building, so please have fun collaborating. I, too, will partake in the RP with my own character. My only goal as GM is to enforce the rules when I need to and to perform WAE, or World Altering Events. These will occur on occasion, normally after some player-run arcs end. Not everything you do is considered an arc... you'll see what I mean when I start editing this post for the Current Arcs.
While I am at work (and reading character sheets when I'm not at work), please feel free to speak to each other and make plans! Hell, PM each other. In fact... if you want to go ahead and pair up or something, then do so. I'm not going to stop you. Use the OOC to your hearts content and thank you for showing interest in REGENESIS.
PM me if you have any questions!
Or post it here.
Either one works.
Hero/Villain
This mechanic is a fail-safe to ensure EVERYONE has a good time. You can be a hero, a villain, or both! However, be careful; if you have a hero and a villain, your are unable to interact with the both of them. To keep things fresh, the "Hero" and "Villain" attribute are anonymous (sent to me via PM) and will remain anonymous until the player wishes to reveal the truth about their character. Given certain circumstances, and at the request of the player, a villain can reform into something of an "Anti-Hero" or a hero can succumb to being an "Anti-Villain." PM me if you are not quite sure about the reformation/falling process and what it means to be "Anti."
Minion
This mechanic allows players with evil characters to use evil mobs (whether it is a lowly assassin or an android) in their posts as NPCs. The strongest mob may even have a name and a character sheet (with less info as a normal PC). These mobs can be easily killed by both the controlling villain(s) and by the hero(es); the villain, however, must make the fights between the minion and hero(es) interesting. Otherwise, what's the point of having minions?!
Mobs
The generalized mobs (wild NPCs, basically) are under the control of the leading player in any group (the one who comes up with the idea for adventuring) and could be anything from a dire creature to a bandit to a wild boar. It should be the leading player's responsibility to perform the actions of the mobs, assisting the fellow player(s) in killing it, and allowing their partner(s) to deal the finishing blow. This will allow a sense of fair play and creates a trust exercise for later adventures between players.
Races
The world is full of many races, though humans dominate the majority of it. I will allow just about everything, including custom races. Just send me a PM of the race you want to run (if it's custom) and I'll give you the okay... or tell you to tweak something if need be. Aside from the other races, who may have more natural magics and powers, I want to jump back to humans. Humans have a tendency of breaking the mold by possessing some powers; such as super strength, speed, and so on. Humans are a variable and they are unique in many ways. Just a head's up.
Magic and Science
Though magic exists in everyone, not everyone uses it. Common folk tend to focus more on their day-to-day jobs, whereas adventurers journey from town-to-town, sometimes facing monsters, bandits and gangsters or even upstart tyrants, in which the adventurers may need such talents. Magic manifests in many ways! Such as the form of "ki" or "chi," which allows them to push their bodies to the utmost limits, to the point of superhuman, even capable of generating visible energy or even possess flight. Other forms of magic may entail spoken word activation, manipulation of the elements, and so on. Magic isn't strictly defined, for it is evident in all living things and can be used in many different ways. Some simply have the innate ability to use the elements about them, naturally manipulating them as though an extension of themselves. Ultimately, magic is not defined by written script, spoken word, or ritualistic sacrifice... it is defined solely through you, the players.
Though there are scientific advances, science has yet to completely rid the world of swords or magic. As a result, magic and science have become one, causing a significant leap in the advancement of the world. Televisions and crystal balls are linked by GLYPHS, techno-magic towers that allows LIVE and recorded information to flow freely and provide simultaneous showing during emergency news casting. There is vehicular travel most common in major cities in the use of hovercars, which use propulsion technology using Mana Cycling Engines, allowing it to use infinite and clean energy (which is thus recycled back into the air) to continue travel without the need for more fuel. Major cities possess skyscrapers and a multitude of businesses, in sharp contrast to small towns and villages which have very few luxuries and are in constant need of protection, due to its conservationist lifestyle. Cities are often guarded by high walls and Tesla Coils at each corner, with several guards protecting the upper and lower walls. The Tesla Coils have two functions: protection from airborne threats and the provision of constant, free energy.
Rules
NO GODMODDING. This also means no AUTOING and no METAGAMING. You can't survive every hit, can't evade every attack, can't be omniscient and you certainly cannot control another player's character! THOU SHALT NOT BE AN ASS! Your god has spoken :P
Character Limit. You are only allowed one character; two if you plan on having a hero and a villain. This is to keep things at a leisurely pace.
Post Limit. To be courteous of other players and to keep this RP from going too fast, I advise (more like demand) that you wait at least two posts before making a response after your initial post and onward. Wait two posts, then response.
NO PLAYER KILLING! Seriously... player killing is not allowed unless it is mutually agreed upon by both parties and that I am notified. I cannot deny a request if both people want it to happen for dramatic effect or whatever, and so this is merely a courtesy.
OCs only. No Mary/Marty Sues/Stus; I want original character content. I advise (legitimately so) that you use a Staple Character (your beloved brain child).
PVP. Fighting is a part of this RP, so I want to remind everyone that you have to allow yourself to get hurt from time to time, to show fatigue when necessary, and to not keep the dance going on forever. So, every 3 turns you take without taking a slight bit of damage, you are required on your fourth post to take damage. It's only courteous :P
Villains. Please do be careful. Though you are a driving point in player plot points, I don't want you to be OP. Also remember that you can reform into an "Anti-Hero," and if that isn't enough, you can also be a recurring villain.
NO FIREARMS. I'm sorry for those of you who had plans for using guns, but I just allow them simply because it would make people OP. Not just the marksman, but the players in general... some would be fast enough to avoid gunfire altogether, others would just cut through bullets with advanced speed. So, either way... this is a big no. I'm very sorry.
Creative Freedom. I encourage creative freedom... that is why this RP is a thing. It is to allow characters from different walks of life to venture into the world and meet one another. It also allows for player's to collaborate and create something beautiful. Without much limitation, only a set of rules to avoid chaos, this RP has a fighting chance to be a living, breathing thing. Please... don't abuse my generosity by doing some crazy, off-the-wall posting. It will discourage other players and force them to leave. So, play nice and create!
Have fun!

The GM's Role
My role in the entirety of this RP is to sit back and participate with the rest of you. The only time I will act as GM is if I need to enforce the rules or if I am leading an event (meaning the incapacitation of my character) for the sake of a World Altering Event (WAE). A World Altering Event is a bit of a shift for the world and it's inhabitants, having a much bigger influence worldwide. Potential tournaments and even storylines from me will be considered WAE. I will also collect and archive the storylines that goes on with every single one of you (editing the OP post and updating them under "Current Arcs" or "Completed Arcs," depending on its status and a summary).
I am interested :D How exactly does the Magic play into everything though? Is it one of those 'anyone can do it' or is it 'only certain people have the ability to do it'?
Anyone can do it. There are many races (mostly because players can use custom races) and so anyone wanting to play as human can use any form of magic just to even the playing field.
