@Joestar This would be my second character, so I want to make them quite different. Khyrr is a gun-toting, self-serving mercenary with a focus on long range weapons, so I wanted a character with a close combat skill and roguish hero personality and decided Grey Jedi is the most interesting way go about it. The downsides would be things like no blaster skill, unable to pilot starships, no mechanical skill etc.

I have an idea for a character that kinda ties into @Vas Khaleen's character.

What are the rules on Force users and lightsabers? My idea is basically a Miraluka Grey Jedi running from the Infinite Empire after his master was killed. The Jedi's master was the same one Asai's family killed.

History: Trained since he was old enough to hold a sword, James is a veteran soldier and skilled warrior despite his young age. Orphaned at a young age, he was taken in by a retired instructor for the Empire's most elite soldiers, a group of Holy Templars known as the Shadow Blades, where he was taught the skills of a Shadow Blade, choosing to specialise in the use of dual swords. He enlisted as a soldier for the Empire at age 16, where he was deployed to quell various uprisings and such, eventually reaching the rank of Grand Templar. He came to fall in love with a young mage woman and saw mages in a more sympathetic light, until she was struck down by more soldiers. This pushed James closer and closer to the breaking point, where he finally rebelled when he was ordered to slaughter a village of mage sympathisers, stealing his first enchanted weapon and going on the run. He has had several run-ins with the Empire since, stealing more enchanted equipment as he travelled until he was finally arrested. He avoided execution because of his long record within the military and in return for his freedom (if you could call it that), he was forced to surrender half of his enchanted equipment and was placed under strict watch as an instructor in the Citadel, banned from interacting with the Magi imprisoned there.

Predisposition to the Magi: He sees Mages as an oppressed people that deserve to be given the same rights and respect as non-mages. His lover was a mage, until she was killed for an unjustified reason that she 'might' have been a threat, and he doesn't want that to happen to anyone else.

Personality: Hard and professional, James has been raised with a disciplined lifestyle which is reflected in his outward personality, but he also has a softer, kinder side that shows when he is relaxed and amongst friends. Having left the military, he is more easy-going and has a witty, sarcastic side to him as well. Those that know him would describe him as a 'roguish hero'.
Notes: He has illegally collected four pieces of enchanted equipment thus far:

• Mage-Breaker:His main sword, a Long-sword enchanted with magic cancels out and destroys other magic, the anti-magic looks like teal and black flames wrapping around the blade.
• Iron-light: Long-sword enchanted with magic flames, useful for burning enemies or starting campfires.
• Arc-stone: A powerful lightning stone inlaid into the elbow of his left gauntlet, allowing him to shoot lightning from his left hand. Continuous use can cause magical feedback which can cause him injury.
• Ward of Light: another magic stone inlaid into the palm of his gauntlet, although he can't identify which type, that allows him to cast a protective shield in front of himself. Can ward off low-level spells and regular physical attacks, but high-level magic with shatter the shield and the backlash will stun him for a short time.

After his arrest, however, he was forced to give up Iron-light and the Ward of Light as part of his work-freedom deal. He does not know were they are being kept. His second sword is replaced by a finely made but un-enchanted long-sword, and his ranged power is replaced by a longbow unless it's for training purposes.

@Ashevelendar I've swapped the Arc-stone and Ward of Light because if he's an instructor, they need to know how to defend against magic.

@Ashevelendar Ok, I guess I can change that. So he was caught by the Templars but because of his service record he is offered a place in the Citadel. In exchange, he has to give up half of his enchantments and is bared from interacting with the Magi while under a strict guard at all times.

Is he offered a particular role at the Citadel? Is he on guard duty? Instructor? or just a ward who lives there, effectively under house arrest?

Shadow had been quiet since Alexis had spoken to him, as a friend and partner. He nodded his agreements and had spent the rest of the journey in his thoughts whilst he watched his surroundings. Before long, they had caught up to another trainer. Male, white hair. His sharp eyes scanned over the area until they rested on a brownish orange shape amongst the tall grass. As they drew closer, the shape bounded out of the grass to stand next to her trainer, revealing itself as a rather pretty girl with 6 distinctive tails and a fiery Kimono. He was quick to identify her as a Vulpix, the overt fire theme and the fox features gave it away.

He was immediately on guard as Alexis spoke to him again, his pale blue eyes watching the pair with a steely expression. When they were finally close enough for the two trainers to speak, he watched the boy as he spoke. He narrowed his eyes slightly at the trainer, Jaden, the moment a battle was mentioned, but he didn't make a move to react because he was at least polite enough to consider the lack of medical centres in the area. He did notice the strange, pleading look he gave Vix and his mind tried to connect the dots.

'The way he introduced her, and that look... he's too soft. He doesn't actually have any control over her.'

As he thought to himself, his eyes flicked back to the Vulpix in question. She was biting her lip, trying to hold back some kind of comment until she bowed in greeting, eliciting a raised eyebrow from the steel-ghost type unfamiliar with the tradition. It didn't take him long to find out exactly the kind of person she was after three consecutive 'accidental' slights towards him, yet he showed no external emotion. He simply found her words childish and immature, as was she. He placed his hand on Alexis's shoulder, reigning in his ghostly life drain. With his gloves, her dress and him controlling his ghostly side, Shadow managed to not drain her. Instead, he shook his head slightly, telling her not to react to it before something could happen.
