Leia had packed her bag carefully, prioritizing what she needed most. There was of course her bedroll and a warm cloak for later on, and trail rations to supplement whatever she could hunt and gather on the way. The tools for maintaining her gear came with, as did a small medkit, and a ball of tinder to help fires start more easily. All in all the bag was of decent heft, but Leia carried it with minimal difficulty.

She walked a little behind Astlo, keeping an eye on the Professor just in case the older man needed assistance. He lived a rather sedentary life, and she knew he was unused to trekking long distances, even along roads as they were now. The thinner air as they continued would only make things harder. Fortunately Astlo had a good head on his shoulders, and seemed to recognize his limits, saying that they should take a break in the near future.

Leia was also keeping an eye on the Champion-Apparent. While the woman was from a northern country, Leia was under the impression that she didn't get out much, meaning the exertion of their trip would be a potential strain for her. If Astlo was fine the younger woman should be alright as well, but that wasn't a guarantee.

@Eviledd1984 You're not a bad gm at all! I think the issue is that there's not much of a driving plot right now, and that means there's less focus on advancing it.

_{En route to the ice castle}

Elain listened to the wizard with half an ear, even though she had heard most of what he had to say before. Sometimes there were new things to hear, after all. When Rath asked about whether the NPC would participate in battle, she nodded. "I'm pretty sure he does, to some extent. And I'll stick close to him. Wouldn't want him dying, after all."

During the trek, she chatted happily with the new party members, learning a little about them and sharing a little bit about herself. She was especially interested in Josuke's taste in music (assuming he had at least a passing interest in it).

Leia Suldevi's heart leaped in her chest at the announcement of an heir to the Royal Rune. This was followed by immediate doubt. There'd been an awful lot of rumors in the past twenty years. All sorts of people in all sorts of places had claimed to be the heir, only to be found out as false claimants. So her hope was tempered with a good deal of wariness.

As the courtiers left the room, the knight commanders were brought in closer, as well as Ame of Valkendarr and the Archmage Astlo. The boot heels of Leia's ceremonial armor clicked on the stone floor as she stepped forward. The composition of their questing party was interesting. Three of the four youngest knight commanders -- including herself -- as well as the Archmage and Champion-Apparent. The inclusion of the last was intruiging and a little concerning. Ame Felfarer had served in the Alverian court for most of seven years now, and she was not particularly social save when she had to be. Nor was she much of a combatant. Taking her along was a risk, especially since she represented another country -- one that might benefit if the heir was never found.

The various knight commanders not going voiced their encouragement and their concerns. Vincent mentioned that he was from the area, and it seemed Kalowick had been there a few times. When Astlo spoke up, his words mirrored Leia's own feelings. But the Steward had more details for them, supported by Idris's statement. The new information had her feeling cautiously optimistic. "Whatever is going on, we will figure it out. And if it is the heir, rest assured, we will bring them back safe and sound." Leia spoke in a clear voice. "May Solarin shine his light upon our task." She wasn't a particularly devout follower of Solarin, but the words were standard fare for such things.

"An ice castle, hm? I like that one -- puzzle dungeons are always fun. And even the escort business isn't nearly as bad as it could be," Elian said with a grin. She looked over the two prospective team members with a critical eye. The monk seemed to be fairly new to the game -- he was still wearing beginner's gear, but she figured between Claudia, Rathello, Uriel and herself they could probably handle another newbie. The bard seemed to have more experience.

I think we can take them both along. A bard would help me keep everyone healed -- especially with another lower-level player in the mix. Monk fellow looks pretty new. His outfit and weapons are basic stuff. Elian sent the message via text in the party chat.
