Freelance means he's effectively independent and self-employed, meaning he can do his own thing or briefly work for different companies for a fee. It's a pretty nice career that pays rather well.
| In Depth Appearance |Samir stands at around 6'1 in height, with shaggy black hair, and a largely unshaven lower face. He possesses dark, brown eyes, and pretty average teeth. He has one main notable scar on his body, a mark on his palm which he got through an accident with a blowtorch at age 14, as well as a small birthmark just below his left shoulder. Samir has no tattoos, although he's been thinking of maybe getting one for a while. He holds his body with a confident posture in his day-to-day actions, often going over the top with this. As for clothing, Samir cares a lot about making what he wears look nice. He will sacrifice comfort if something looks good. That isn't to say he's obsessed with fashion, it just comes packaged with a bit of arrogance. This means Samir will usually just wear what's trendy or what looks good, he doesn't really have a set style. This extends to shoes and clothing accessories too. Samir hates wearing thick coats and will refuse to wear them, even in extremely cold weather conditions.

| Fears |Droughts - His parents unintentionally freaked him out as a boy by telling him all about the droughts they endured while growing up in Northern Sri Lanka, leaving him worried of a major one happening in Brighton.
Mild thalassophobia - He has no idea where this comes from. He can be at the coast fine and does enjoy swimming, but the thought of being stuck out in the middle of the ocean terrifies him.
| Personality |Samir could be considered a very hot-headed, arrogant individual. He's often very abrasive, and believes in most scenarios that he will do outperform the other people in the same scenario. In most situations, he would choose to put himself first or save his own skin before helping others. He's confident in social situations and extroverted, having little trouble with meeting or engaging with new people, and often heavily attempting to impress them with jokes or anecdotes that he finds hilarious. In competitive situations he is often quite aggressive and will go over the top with trying to prove himself as superior to those around him. Perhaps expected, he reacts angrily and negatively when called out or criticised for his actions or attitudes, always trying to disprove or deny the claim thrown his way. Perhaps a more positive trait that applies to Samir is the fact that he is determined - if he starts on a job, he will make his utmost effort to make sure it is finished to a good standard, he's not one for giving up easily. He often rushes into situations without taking a good grasp on them first, which obviously leads to negative repercussions a lot of the time.
| Abilities |Pyrogenesis
Samir has the ability to generate bursts of flame from his body, although his knowledge with this ability is limited to producing flame from his hands. He can currently create a fierce burst of flame that shoots across a long distance, or a gentle one which flickers in the air. He's been using the latter one to attempt to heat up food. He hasn't really found a use for the first one yet, but has been trying it out on the pebbled beaches when nobody else is around.
| Limitations |Samir can generate and shoot the fire, but he doesn't have the means to manipulate or control it effectively. This means that the more powerful bursts of flame are not targeted properly and spread out over a loose range, causing lots of collateral damage. The ability is, unfortunately, affected by anger and rage in a large way, meaning that heavy damage could be caused if he gets very angry, which, if you've read the personality section, you know has the possibility to occur. He isn't resistant to fire, which means that if a burst somehow reflects back onto him, he will be burnt.

| Background |Samir's parents were both born in poor villages in Northern Sri Lanka, they dry part of the island nation. The region experienced heavy drought, which was a constant threat on their lives. They were both the oldest child in their families and as such received an education in respectively nearby towns. It was at university in Colombo that they met, and eventually got married. They eventually moved to North London when Samir's mother became pregnant. Samir was the second born in the UK, with one more sibling to come later down the line.
Due to their rather poor upbringing, Samir's parents wanted to give their children a luxurious upbringing. This meant new expensive, up-to-date games and clothes, and lot's of affirmation, telling the kids that they are the best and encouraging them to be engaged in competitive activities, mainly sports. Samir took lot's of interest in football from an early age, and it's a hobby that's always stuck with him. His siblings also developed a similar love for sports, although different ones to football. He became wrapped up in Club supporter culture from an early age too, supporting the club Arsenal FC due to his geographical region. The family took frequent trips to Sri Lanka, which Samir always enjoyed, and it was also a thing to brag about too. Like many English primary school kids, he was convinced he would become a footballer when he grew up.
When Samir hit Secondary school and started to take D.T, most notably the Resistant Materials category of the subject, he found it was a subject that he enjoyed to a great extent. He found crafting and making things exhilarating, especially working with metals and furnaces.
He quickly joined up with all the D.T clubs he could. He never lost his love of football and his supporter passion, though. Samir was a popular, extroverted kid all throughout Secondary School, and cannot deny that he did pick on or bully some of the less popular, more introverted kids with his group of friends. For his GCSE options, he chose Resistant Materials, history and Business Studies. He received an A, B and B in those subjects respectively, and went on to receive an A-Level qualification in RM as well.
He chose not to go to Uni, and instead went straight to work, flicking between various different companies in North London which included locksmiths, construction jobs, product designs and lots of other things in between. He got a decent amount of money from working for these companies, but something was missing in his life. He disliked being cooped up and land-locked, and remembered how much he loved the coast from his frequent trips to Sri Lanka when he was younger. So, he set about trying to find a new coastal city in the UK to move to, and eventually settled on Brighton. He had friends that had moved down there, and they told him it was a nice place to live and work. So, he packed up his things and moved down to Brighton, resuming his freelance work.
He was just relaxing in his room, playing some GTA, when the storm was hitting the hotel, the noises of the game in his headphones drowning out the sound of the thunder and the rain. He went to bed after he took off his headphones to find the sound of the storm to be more quiet, obviously not realising what the storm was doing to him and to and the other people in the Lights. He woke up with his hands feeling hotter than usual, but that feeling quickly went back down, and he went about his day as usual. He didn't realise what he could do until he was in a warehouse getting annoyed at a metal box which wasn't opening, and shot a burst of flame from his hand. After the initial panic, he found he could generate fire from his body. He's been toning this ability the few days after he discovered it. He feels very positive about what he can do. He feels in a way that he's now superior to those without powers, and has a feeling that they will react negatively to them. He now feels that all those with powers are superior to those without, and that they are a gift of sorts.

| In-Depth Appearance |Izzy is a spindly, androgynous person who stands roughly 5'8" or 1.73 meters. Most of their height is in their legs, which are rather gangly and not so useful at the gym. They're a relatively petite person in terms of build, weighing in at 131 pounds/59.5 kilograms. They tend to walk with a bit of a hunch, and have a clumsy and awkward gait.
It's difficult, if not impossible to determine their birth sex, as they're usually wearing baggy hoodies and jeans, and they style their dark hair in a scruffy, above-the-chin manner. Their eyes are hazel and constantly alight with some manner of anticipation, preparing for a potentially threatening or unfamiliar event. They usually wear some kind of hat if they aren't hooded, and have a large collection of unisex earrings.

They struggle with social interaction, particularly speaking, photosensitivity, aversion to loud noises, and must maintain a schedule to feel secure. Izzy likes to spend most of their time on their own or with animals, as interaction with people is incredibly taxing for them. They tend to fidget and hum a lot, though they rarely speak. They use sign language with those who know it.
They react very negatively to breaches in their schedule, which they've cultivated for years. It brings them a sense of stability and security in their life which they absolutely need in order to function.
They are a nonbinary person and their birth sex is near-unidentifiable; indeed, they might even be intersex, though their parents raised them as a girl and their body primarily fits that of a female.

| Personality |A veritable ball of anxiety and goodwill, Izzy is, quite frankly, a mess. They're very much a kind, giving, if not timid person, always trying to overcome their fears to help others. They take a lot of online classes and work with animals in order to evade direct interactions with people, and rarely speak. Their voice is quiet, high, and somewhat husky. Izzy spends most of their free time curled up in their bed, browsing forums or reading books with their pet cat, Tommy. They actually run a semi-popular blog on deconstructive fiction, and enjoy textual interaction, so long as it doesn't become too personal.
Izzy tries their very best to keep everything neat, organized, and functional. They have a fixed schedule they adhere to and apply their skillset as effectively as possible to solve problems. They're regarded rather highly at work for their sheer productivity, though their people skills leave something to desire. They don't work very much, though, as they are easily overloaded with the sensations of the world, and could live off disability, though they are trying their best to become independent one day.

| Abilities |Izzy possesses a sort of short-term precognitive ability they have coined the βpreflex.β As the name suggests, it allows them to react to events slightly before they occur, rather than after. This grants them superhuman reaction speed and generally boosts their insight.
Jumping out of the way of an incoming truck, dodging a punch before it's thrown, responding to an insult that hasn't been made yet--it's these sorts of scenarios in which the preflex will trigger. It's instantaneous, though with quick thinking Izzy can slightly modify their reaction from the initial instinctual one.
| Limitations |While their reflexes have improved, their physical abilities have not. There is only so much a normal human can do, even with prior knowledge of an incident. In addition, the preflex only extends up to ten seconds before an event occurs, most commonly only a few, and they do not have control over what they foresee.

| Background |Izzy never really socialized with the other kids. Always silent, always fidgeting nervously. They were homeschooled until the tenth grade, and even then they rarely did anything except scribble quietly in the back corner. Their parents have five other children and were always busy with them throughout their childhood. Izzy, being the fourth born, suffered the fate of most quiet middle children in big families and were largely ignored by their parents and siblings alike. They were not diagnosed with autism until they were well into the eleventh grade as a result, and even with medical assistance and therapy continued to struggle with everyday living.
Izzy's family didn't value them very much. Noncomformity combined with an inability to make much money was not something they wanted to deal with, and they had Izzy leave the house soon after they graduated from high school. Izzy was never very close to their family, so this was more of an issue of loss of shelter rather than loss of kin or home.
They currently rent an apartment themselves with the help of disability payment. They attend college using the revenue their blog makes and the money they make from odd animal-related jobs.
The storm didn't change very much for Izzy. After seeing reports of superpowers emerging in Brighton all over local forums, they began to wonder if they were impacted by the event as well. Sure enough, they realized their cat-like reflexes had leveled to Bask-like reflexes--so that wasn't a trick of the anxiety! Currently, they use this ability to function better in regards to their animal care jobs, trying to keep the fact that they developed an ability a secret. They don't want the attention. In fact, the preflex has worsened their anxiety, to an extent, though at least it helps them catch typos before they happen!

Almost done with my character, but ive just gotta say that this RP really reminds me of Misfits, and I LOVE THAT SHOW! Really the same plot as this rp. People got powers from a storm, some turned into crazy ragers, and it took place in England. Hahaha It took me a minute to piece them together, but I think that's why I felt so drawn to this!!
I rewrote based off of that show but we're going into a totally different direction. :D Also, let me know whenever your character is done, please.
