Khalid could tell when somebody wanted to be left alone and it seemed Quinton did. He glanced over at the young woman Quinton pointed out then nodded his head.

"Of course. Thank you," he added as he got to his feet. "I hope you have a good night, if I don't run into you again." With one last smile at Quinton, he left his side and walked over to Echo.

He stopped briefly, not wanting to startle her. "They're quite extraordinary, aren't they?" he asked, looking at the fish. They were beautiful, but being in a container like that reminded him far too much of his own painful century stuck in a lamp. Why humans had such a fascination with caging creatures, he didn't understand.
'Resting his eyes' was not a term Khalid really understood, but then again, humans said a lot of strange things he didn't understand. What was important to him was that the man was in fact, alright.

"Oh, no," he said, pleasantly surprised. "I do not require any aid. I merely wanted to check that you were alright. Do you mind if I sit?" he asked, gesturing to the seat next to Quinton.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Quinton. My name is Khalid." After a moment, he smiled. "You know, there are actual servants here. You are a quest."

@cloudystarKhalid knew he should have been interacting more and putting himself out there, but he felt such a foreigner and wasn't even sure how to start. That was how he found himself heading over to the refreshment table. He got himself a drink and some pastries then made his way over to the chairs nearby to sit and eat when he noticed a young man, already sitting there, but his eyes were closed.

Initially, Khalid panicked a little. He was getting better at understanding people, but he thought they only kept their eyes closed for such long periods if they were sleeping - or worse.

"Sir?" he asked, sitting next to the young man. "Are you alright?"
@ineffableOh have you not read The Rose and the Dagger yet? And you know, it's YA. We will never be free of love triangles. But hey, we got Khalid so it makes it worth it.
@ineffable I mean, technically, yes, he could have, but then he would have been dooming all the people he was supposed to protect. The whole point is he wasn't selfish; he was owning up to his mistake and suffering so his people would not die (well, you know, except for the wives...)
@ineffable Funny thing is, I made this character before I read Wrath and the Dawn, but I also live that Khalid so much (so it ended up being a happy accident because I completely forgot!)
So sorry for being absent. Are there any characters (besides mine) not interacting with anybody? I need something to do with Khalid.
Sorry for taking so long! Hope that's an okay intro.
It was dumb, Neasa knew that, but she needed to stop. She was nauseous, she could feel a scab peeling and bleeding on her calf, and she was already exhausted. This was what she got for stupidly going into the Zone to find her stupid brother. This was her stupid life.

Neasa glanced around to see if there was anybody nearby before making her way over to a crumbling building. She stepped inside and sat against a corner so nobody could sneak up on. Once the dizziness and nausea had faded enough that she didn't think she would hurl if she bent over, she rolled up her pant leg and sure enough, a blister had opened and was oozing down her leg.

She pulled her bag off her shoulder and set it down beside her, then rooted around in it for a moment before dragging out an old piece of cloth. It was dirty and covered in blood and not at all hygienic but it was all she had. She wiped up the oozing mess as best she could then folded the cloth over. She then tied it around her leg, a makeshift, terrible bandage to cover the blister. It was a sad, momentary bandage to try and hide a much bigger problem but it was all she had.

That done, she rested her head back against the wall and sighed heavily. Normally she tried not to think about how much she wanted to go home, but man did she want to go home. She was sick of the Zone. Sick of suffering from radiation poisoning. To hell with her brother, who was probably dead anyways. But going home meant admitting to her family that she had failed and potentially left her stupid brother if he was still alive. Yeah, that would go over well.

With a groan, Neasa got back to her feet, threw her bag over her shoulder and continued on her way, as if her brother would somehow magically appear.
