Here we go:

I was worried that an external chat might turn attention from the RP/Guild itself, but I'm starting to think it might be an easier way of communicating with each other.

I also want to mention that I'll be at a workshop from Monday till the end of next week. I'll have my phone and my Nook, so I'll be able to communicate and post.
Would it be alright if Cordonova didn't have a single Pontiff, but rather a few key bishops or like a pontifical council or something?

Honestly I didn't realize that each nation has their own pontiff when I wrote my post lol. However, on thinking on it, due to Cordonova's nature (made up of six very different duchies), it might be difficult to elect a single pontiff. Thus, just like the council of the Notables, a more egalitarian measure was conceived.

Thoughts?

I'd be fine with this; they'd probably need to nominate one of their own for High Pontiff elections though. It'd be odd to have one nominee from every other country, and a handful from Cordonova.
@Aristo Is there only one Pontiff in the world or does each country have it's own pontiff?

There's only one High Pontiff, but there is one regular Pontiff for every Fiorentian state. These Pontiffs decide amongst themselves who the new High Pontiff (basically the Pope) will be, and act as religious representatives of their nations.

Good work so far, everybody!
@Aristo

So, before I start my intro post: The part about the Timlukids preparing for war in the OP is just for flavor or are they actually preparing a Jihad-by-another-name? And if yes, would my kingdom, being at the border know enough to start preparing to defend itself?

There are many different tribes and principalities within the Timlukid world, and cooperation is decentralized, sporadic. At the moment, there is no all-out Jihad brewing, but skirmishes between the east and west aren't uncommon. There very well could be a few maverick sultans arrayed against you, but that'd hardly be the entirety of the Timluks' might.
For now, just note that tensions across the border are high - not unusually - and there may be multiple clans at the forefront. Their number and makeup come down to good your spies/scouts are. I'll do some POVs through the Timluk perspective now and then, but I'm leaving a bit of the opening stages to the players.
So @Aristo, can you clarify something for me?

Is there a difference between the Ambrusian Order (the heretic burners) and Fiorentianism proper? Just trying to get it right, cuz my next post involves some sweet infidel burning action.

Alrighty; Fiorentianism is the name of the religion, like Christianity. The Ambrusian Church is the name of the dominant religious sect, in the same way that Catholicism or Protestantism are denominations of Christianity.
However, on Antova, the Ambrusians are the only real Fiorentinan hierarchy of note. There aren't any other religious institutions comparable enough to take notice. So the terms Ambrusian Church and "Fiorentianism proper" can be used interchangeably.

I'll give this one a 9/10. Had some real catchy, old school heavy metal vibes that I found impossible to resist. Definitely can pick out some elements of doom/sludge in the mixture. I used to listen to stuff like this all the time in college, so it's only natural I find something to like about it. The themes are campy, but in a charming, lovable way.

Here's some black metal. Not for everybody, but damn, those riffs.

@Aristo, I am finished with my nation. Is it good? Here is the finished sheet.

All good!
I got off my ass and posted up a little prelude.

Consider this your green light to start posting!

Imbriz, Aldmeria

Another flambeau into the fire, and a torrent of shrieking rattled Captain Rodriguez's ears. He winced, turning his eyes away from the smoke, but more-so away from the manic woman tethered to the stake. He'd lost count of how many had burned today, and his core no longer quivered when he consigned them to oblivion. Abrahan Rodriguez was a pious man. He'd been sure of his faith all his life, and he was a soldier to the core, yet he was none too thrilled when assigned the task of purging the village of Imbriz. Abrahan crossed off another name on the parchment in his hand, looking down the row of ink that spelled the deaths of dozens.
"...Captain," a voice insisted.
"What?" Abrahan shot, suddenly agitated. He caught himself, suddenly ashamed, and said in a calmer tone, "Go on, Ensign."
"We've finished setting another row of pyres for the next lot, Sir. Shall we bring them in?"
Abrahan gave his adjutant a dejected nod, handing over the parchment. "I'll leave it to you, Ensign. I need a gulp of fresher air," he said, and left the inferno at Imbriz's square.

The Pontifical Palace, Aldmeria

Mauricio Sánchez stood, gazing intently though the chamber window into the fields beyond the palace. Beyond the expanse of green, a steady black haze grew on itself, staining the complexion of the sky. The smoldering cloud had been there since morning, looming over Imbriz - the shadow of its sin, or so Mauricio told himself. At least sixty had been condemned today, and they weren't to be the last in the days to come. The Presbyter General turned away from the smoke with a smug satisfaction. This was what it meant to be powerful, to have custody of the lives of men in one's hands. With the High Pontiff's life snuffed by old age, it was God's will that Mauricio set right the path of Antova in his stead.
Thanks be to God and Fiorentino.

The warrior-clergyman clapped his hands and an emaciated custodian in the heraldry of he church stepped into the office. Mauricio procured a handful of identical scrolls, stamped the Pontificial seal.
"One for each of Antova's Pontiffs. Ensure every kingdom receives theirs."
The custodian bowed, taking the bundle of parchment and ejected himself from the room. The letters were addressed to each Pontiff of the Antovan kingdoms; the next High Pontiff needed to be elected. Mauricio was bound by duty to call them to office - had tradition not demanded it, he was not so sure he'd convene an election at all. But that was the way of things. The Church demanded a Pontiff at its head.
He ran a gnarled finger through the bush at his chin. It was under his orders that the Ambrusians resume their purges on the heretics and the magic-workers. With a High Pontiff-less vacuum, it had been up to him to restore order; to show that the Church was still a very real and present part of Antova. He knew he had allies in this, namely the old-timer bishops and more conservative men such as himself. But he frowned as he thought of Antova's Pontiffs. Though they represented the spiritual welfare of their respective kingdoms, those countries varied in piety, and he'd never been sure he could count each and every one as an ally.
That is a matter for the election, he told himself. He spared another glimpse at the smoldering mass in the distance, and exited his office.
This is fun, why is the thread so underused?

@Heat

8/10 - The instrumentals have lots of atmosphere, which I like in my music, and are played well. I like when you can sit back and let the music sweep you along a journey; Baroness does just that. Admittedly, I liked the song better before the vocals, but they're delivered with a raw energy that complements the instrumentals. I've never truly given the band a solid listen, but I just might do that. Usually, I listen to music that's a bit harsher, and the song didn't really scratch that itch. Always liked their cover art, though!

Here's my contribution to the thread.
