I can completely understand that. But as of right now I can't completely trust you. As the mediator of this situation, it is my responsibility to see that both Shinji's life is preserved, and that the situation attached to him doesn't spiral out of control.
Because of that, I would like you to at least trust in my sincerity as a mediator and as a person that I will do everything in my power to ensure that this goes through without a loss.

I'll admit, she and I don't have the best history. But I really do need to be here for Shinji, and I'm willing to put personal divides aside for that.
As admirable as it is, that doesn't mean you can be guaranteed as an asset in Shinji's recovery and stability. If we succeed, I'm sure you'll have many more chances to stay by his side and help him.
