Jake allowed Aya to pull him off of the boy, stepping back a few paces as she tried to pull. In truth he was glad of the opportunity to back up while still looking menacing. Not that the kid seemed to get the whole 'Dog can eat you' vibe he was trying to get across. Kuro's smile kind of bothered Jake. He didn't seem intimidated in the least. Maybe he was losing his touch.

The weird crying girl ran off without any kind of explanation as to why she was crying, which only annoyed Jake even more. But from what the overly friendly kid had said, it seemed like he was responsible. Jake could fully understand that. He was pretty annoying. He just hoped he hadn't assaulted her like he had assaulted Jake.

Jake quickly lost interest in that situation though when Aya started to sway on her feet. He leaned in towards her legs in an ultimately futile attempt to steady her. He knew it wouldn't work but he had to try anyway. Fortunately she didn't collapse in a heap and instead put a hand to his head. It was then that Jake found himself incredibly disoriented as he was snapped out of the room and back to his body. He felt slightly nauseated as the world around him shifted again. But this time the world regained it's color and he was finally back in his own body. His relief that he wasn't dead dead was quickly replaced by worry as he noted Aya's head droop. He sat up and nuzzled her head with her nose to check on her. After a moment he realised that she was simply asleep and he calmed. He'd let her sleep. She had had a long day. Hell, so had he.

With a small yawn, Jake dropped his front paws over Aya's lap and lay his head down. Maybe he would try to get some sleep too.

Jake was momentarily stunned when he was attacked by Kuro. He wasn't the first kid that was super excited to meet Jake but his reaction took "excited" to a whole new level. There was roughhousing and then there was just plain assault. To Jake, this felt like the latter. Fortunately for him and unfortunately for Kuro, Jake was far stronger than a normal dog and after a second or two he wrestled free of Kuro's grip. A second later he was ramming the kid to the ground with his head where he proceeded to pin him to the ground with two front paws on his chest. After growling menacingly, Jake grumbled at the boy "Take your stinkin' paws off me you damn dirty ape"

It may have seemed extreme, and probably did to the girls, but Jake knew that if he didn't show this boy that there were repercussions to attacking him like that, he'd probably do it again. Jake wasn't overly fond of being touched at all, let alone manhandled like he had just been. He wasn't going to hurt this kid. Maybe if he had been a few years older but Jake had a rule about never hurting kids. Of course Kuro wouldn't know that and Jake was fine with scaring him a little.

Jake was not expecting the girl, Aya he learned, to be able to hear that. He took a step back in surprise when she responded to him. What the hell was this place? He took two steps back when Aya wandered off, straight through a wall. There was not one part of this that made sense to him but then he was a dog now, so little made sense in his life anymore. Realising that he was supposed to be going with Aya, he ran towards the wall she had passed through, stopping for a moment to test it with a paw. He didn't want to run straight into it and smash his skull. Fortunately his paw seemed to pass straight through. It seemed that whatever Aya had done to him, the basic laws of physics didn't seem to apply anymore.

With a reluctance, he pushed himself through the wall and then another after Aya until they came to what looked to be some kind of meeting room. There was a large table in the middle surrounded by chairs and on top of that table was another girl. This one crying. But while Jake could see Aya perfectly, this girl seemed to be obscured somehow. The dog blinked for a moment, thinking that maybe there was something wrong with his eyes. It didn't seem to work though.

The crying girl turned to them both and asked what they wanted. "So many things" Jake responded "Something to chew on would be good. A warm blanket too...Maybe some cake" It was then that he realised that he was speaking out loud again. He was so used to people not being able to hear him. This was going to take a lot of getting used to. Slightly embarrassed, the dog looked from Aya to the crying girl and said "Um...I mean...Why so sad, little lady?"

Just when Jake thought his world couldn't get any weirder, his world literally got weirder. This was too bizarre. Everything seemed to lose it's color and the world darkened. But the thing that creeped him out the most was when he stood up and seemed to leave his body behind. "What!?" Jake thought to himself as he spun around on all four paws, never taking his eyes off of his body. What was his body doing down there? He needed that thing!...And yet...he was still moving around without it....Jake's head hurt again.

His attention shifted to the girl when he heard her say ”You're gonna have to stay close to me. I can only bring you back to your body if I'm touching you…is someone crying?” The first part at least partially explained what was going on. This was her power? The second part only creeped Jake out. He too heard the sound of someone crying and sunk closer to the ground in a defensive stance. This entire situation was like some kind of horror movie. Jake turned his head to the girl and asked "What the hell did you drag me into, girly?"

Jake followed prettyboy and the girl through the building, barely paying attention to blondy as he gave his schpeel. This place smelled both wonderful and terrible all at once. The building was full of metas and a number of them had seemingly acquired new smells with their powers. A human probably wouldn't notice it but Jake's senses were far beyond human.

When they finally reached the girls room, Jake was taken aback by the sheer size of it. Calling this place a "room" didn't do it justice. It was more like a house. And it was bigger than any place he had ever lived in. What possible reason could one person need for a place this big? Not that he was complaining of course...Well not much anyway. This so called room was beautiful and he felt rather out of place. Not to mention just plain small.

Jake's attention was drawn back to the girl when she knelt down beside him and asked him if he was her new companion. He sat down and assumed what he thought was a regal bearing. Body strong, chest out, head held high. If a dog could stand at attention, this was probably what it would look like. He gave her a pleasant little "Arooo" by way of an answer. Sure, he'd be her companion. At least for the time being.

The girl moved off and Jake watched her as she opened the fridge. The dog licked his lips at the sight of the masses of food, a small trail of drool dripping to the floor as he did. But then she closed the door without removing a single thing? Was this girl brain damaged? He would have eaten everything in there. Or given it his best shot anyway. But then it all made sense when she called for room service and ordered a steak. He started to drift off at the thought of steak. So juicy and delicious. He was so distracted by the thought of steaky goodness that he didn't even notice when the girl left. When he snapped back to reality and she wasn't anywhere in sight, he began to get worried. Some guard dog he was. They had only been here five minutes and already he had lost the girl he was supposed to be protecting. He calmed down at the sound of of the shower being turned on but still berated himself.

Making a mental note to try and learn this girls name at some point, Jake made his way over to the fridge and forced the door open with his nose. So much yummy goodness. He was all set to tuck into the contents of the well stocked fridge when a thought occurred to him and he glanced towards the bathroom. He should probably try to make a good impression. This girl was already scared and hurting, she hardly needed to be cleaning up Jake's mess too. He looked back at the fridge for a moment, using every last ounce of willpower he had to not gobble everything up. With an annoyed murmur he pushed the fridge door closed.

He wasn't about to let his surprising turn of restraint stop him from having fun though. He bolted at the massive bed and dived on top of it, relishing the comfort. He had been so used to sleeping on floors that he almost forgot what an actual bed felt like. He rolled around, messing up the covers for a moment before doing his best to put them back in place with his teeth. His next stop was the garden where he was determined to ensure there were no blasted squirrels lurking around. Confident that the place was rodent free, he took the time to sniff a few of the flowers. Most of them smelled nice but one made him sneeze quite violently. He had his revenge by murdering the flower and eating it. When that was done, he made his way back inside and slid across the smooth floor a couple of times in his best attempt at a Risky Business scene.

When he heard the shower turn off, he quickly sat down, pretending like he hadn't been doing anything at all. The girl came out and headed for the door, quickly returning with a plate which she revealed contained a steak. "Kid, I may love you" Jake thought to himself as she placed the steak in front of him and told him to dig in. And dig in he did. He ate as though he hadn't eaten in a week. But that was how Jake always ate. No manners whatsoever.

Once the enemy steak had been destroyed, Jake lifted his head up and smacked his chops to find the girl engaged in a phone call. She was speaking a language Jake didn't understand which prompted him to tilt his head and raise an ear in confusion. Whoever she was speaking to, she didn't seem to be enjoying it. Jake watched as she hung up and slid to the ground. Poor girl. He knew that feeling.

What she asked next only confused Jake. "Hey buddy, want to come exploring with me, or stay here and take care of my body?" What the hell did that mean? How could she go exploring without her body? His brain ended up hurting from thinking about it and he decided just to move over to her where he lay down beside her. Wherever she was going, he'd go with her.....Unless it was to the vet.

Nate

Nate only watched on, slightly horrified by the lengths Eli would go to just because a drugged up Olivia insulted his mother. Sure, Nate himself had used similar tactics in the past but that was only ever against truly despicable people. The enemy. Olivia was supposed to be an ally. Or at least she was supposed to be Nate's ally. So what did this make Eli to Nate? Was he the enemy? When Olivia backed up into him, Nate instinctively put his hands up to her elbows to steady her but quickly realized that would probably only annoy her even more so he instead did his best to back up himself and give her space.

After Eli had finished being a dick hole and Olivia threatened him before storming off, Nate was left standing there, slightly flabbergasted by the entire scene. "Are you happy now?" he asked Eli "You've proven that you're the biggest dick in the schoolyard. Do you feel better about yourself? Did you work out that sociopathic need to make everyone around you feel terrible?" He felt like he was lecturing a child and rolled his eyes.

It was then that he heard a 'ping' sound and fished his phone out of his pocket to check the message. It was from himself. Or rather the real him.

"Redneck behaving himself?
Got plans for him later.
Trial by fire."

The message was somewhat cryptic but he understood it. Before he had split from the main Nate, he had considered bringing someone in to help train Jackson, for their first session anyway. Eli was, after all, the kind of sociopath Jackson was likely to find himself fighting at some point in the future is this war with the Underground Movement was going to continue. Unstable lunatics with powers. It had seemed like a good idea at the time but now, after seeing Eli threaten Olivia's family, he wasn't sure. But then surely even Opie wouldn't be so disturbed as to actually hurt the kid, right?

He took a moment to come to a decision then finally said "So, Opie, I need to check in but if you want to prove that you're more than just another douchebag and want to actually help someone, come find me later." He began to turn towards the door but paused for a moment as he looked at Eli, still covered in fire extinguisher foam. He chuckled slightly to himself at the sight before aiming his phone at the other man and taking a photo.

"Later bitch!" he yelled over his shoulder as he left.

He made a mental note to go see the tech geeks about that. Jake didn't have the Owlman's problem, there was no man to bird translation issues when it came to his brain. Jake thought human like it was native. They could whip him up some kind of translating collar.

I don't know if that's entirely true about Jake. There's definitely a side of his mind that's more canine than human. His desire to chase and chew things for instance. It's not something he would do if it was simply a human mind in a dog body. Like I said in my last post, he's driven mostly by instinct and I actually think he's more dog than human at this point.

I'm not saying a translator definitely wouldn't work, just pointing out the state of his mind. He may have more in common with Owlman than you think.

Jake understood the girls reluctance to talk to cops. He didn't like them either. They were always so mad. Chasing after him like morons. Slow morons. He dropped back down to the floor and started heading towards the door. The girl had asked to go to her room and Jake had already decided to go with her, not even bothering to wait for anyones permission. A lot of what Jake did these days was purely instinctive. He didn't put much thought into anything. He just followed his gut. And his gut was always hungry. He figured this room the girl was talking about may have had food in it. Or at least it had a better chance of having food than this place did...Unless the doctors were edible. He gave one a quick glance as he passed and decided they probably wouldn't taste very good anyway. And they had saved his ass.

He turned his head to look back at the others and stopped on the girl. She was obviously scared and Jake felt for her. He decided that at least for the time being, he'd stay by her side. At least until she wasn't afraid anymore. He turned his eyes towards prettyboy and asked him "Well, are you guys coming or not?"
