Sorry for the late reply, I wasn't feeling well yesterday. I forgot to ask but did you want this set before or after the events with the Equalists? I've probably asked this already but I can't remember.
They shared the small dressing room with one other team, the team that was on before them. The Badgerfrogs often made friends or were friendly towards other teams. They all had the same goal in mind and they loved the same sport dearly. There was no use in making enemies with them. The only ones that seemed to grate against the Badgerfrogs the wrong way was the White Falls Wolfbats, but they rubbed everyone the wrong way.

The other team greeted them warmly; outside of the Pro-bending arena, the two teams often went out to dinner together or practiced together. They were called the Poodle Monkies. Admittedly they weren't the best team around but they tried hard and worked their butts off.

"Hey where's Fu?"

Houjin rubbed the back of his neck, "Well you see...he kind of bailed on us."

"What! Are you guys serious about this?" Zira, the firebender of the Poodle Monkies, said with wide eyes. She couldn't believe that Fu would do something like that.

"Yeah, he got tired of us "holding him back" or something like that. We've found a temporary though, so we can still compete." He gestured to Mara.

"Does she have any experience?" Zira asked as she finished adjusting her uniform.

Houjin shrugged, "She's competing with us tonight, Ukik wants to give her a trial."

"You fell for those wide eyes again?" Another member called. "You've always had a soft spot for sad eyes. If I wasn't a man I'd give you some sad eyes for dinner."

Houjin's cheeks flared as the man laughed. "Haha; very funny."

"But it's true. You always fall for the oldest trick in the book~" Ukik said as she finished adjusting the uniform to better fit Mara. Fu wasn't very tall but he was stocky and the last-minute alterations were a bit clunky but they'd work. "Good luck to you guys tonight, Zira." Ukik made a move to get closer to the woman but she stopped midway and pouted.

"I'll bend down to hug you then." Zira laughed. She was a very tall woman, standing a few inches taller than Houjin. The last time that Zira had hugged the smaller woman, Ukik about had a heart attack when Zira had picked her up to her height.

Houjin gave them all a smile and high fives before watching them walk away. "You guys want to watch their match?" He asked Mara and Dan.

"We always like to see how our friends do and they watch us when they can." Ukik explained as she pulled off her boots to grab a second pair of shoes that were appropriate for the occasion.

Houjin quickly put on his uniform before being inspected by the waterbender. She made sure that his helmet would be secure and that nothing was out of place. "You pass."

"Thanks mom." Houjin said as he pulled off his helmet.

"Remember the last time your helmet wasn't on correctly?"

Houjin's helmet had fallen off during a match when a few illegal moves had been used; his jaw had been fractured but if his helmet wouldn't have fallen off then his injury wouldn't have been as bad as it had been.

"Hey Mara..." Houjin looked at the blonde girl, curiosity had been getting the better of him, "You know the rules, right? This is our first time competing in a while --"

"A lot longer than a while, Houjin!"

"Fine, in months, we don't want to lose this opportunity because of a few simple mistakes."

"Yeah, and we do have an opening for a permanent earthbender so think of this as your try-out." Ukik added. "If it gets to be too much then just let us take care of it, alright? We can provide some cover for you."

Houjin knew that no matter her answer, there was no backing out now.
I will reply tomorrow~
He was up early like every day; ever since Triver was a little boy he found that he always woke with the sun, no matter how much sleep he had gotten the night before. The maids just barely began cleaning his chambers when he was eating an early breakfast of bread, a few slices of cheese, a handful of berries and sliced apples, a piece of ham and a sweetened porridge made of oats and buckwheat. He ate better than a majority of his people. Even the knights and others that lived within the castle did not get such fine foods. He might not have known much about things like death or suffering but Triver was no fool. He had learned from a young age to have informants and people whom he could rely on for bits and pieces of gossip. The maids that cleaned his chambers were some of his informants, they told him of the inner workings of the servants’ quarters that he could not access. In return Triver ensured that they had food (since sometimes his father would withhold food for all of their servants due to the mistake of one) no matter the circumstance.

With his new knights, Triver intended to treat them well. They would mean so much more to him than just two people who would protect him, they would become people Triver could trust. He was not a trusting man, and only a small handful of people had earned the prince's trust; Ser'deni and his mother being among them; Inaris too, although his change in personality frightened Triver.

When he was done with his breakfast he pushed aside the bowls and utensils into a neat pile before excusing himself. The maids quickly bowed before picking up his dishes.

The prince wanted to check on Inaris and the other mages who had been taken to the infirmary to rest. They were exhausted from yesterday's events. Before he arrived at the infirmary, he ran into Enn and gave him instructions for the man to bring the new knights as soon as he could to the infirmary.

It was quiet save for the soft snoring of the mages and other patients. Triver would visit the injured men on occasion if he had free time. Some welcomed his presence but others seemed to dislike him, or rather his position in life. The nurses and doctors that moved about quietly paid no mind to the prince. Some of the nurses and doctors were magically inclined; these types of people were called warlocks. The difference between a warlock and a mage was how they came about their magical abilities.

You could say that a mage was born with a natural gift for magic. Almost always they would express their magical abilities by accident within their early childhoods, and they were born with some disability to compensate for their larger life-forces (which magic is derived from).

Warlocks on the other hand, have learned their magic. Often they are ordinary people who simply are good at manipulating their life forces through the use of specialized objects. They do not possess large life forces but the use of magical objects help curb the impact of using up one's life force.

All true mages belonged to the king while the warlocks made a living by calling themselves mages and swindling people out of their money in return for poor quality magic. The warlocks that worked in the infirmary were specifically trained in the art of healing magic and had learned the art alongside the mages. The warlocks here only treated the warriors that were brought home; there was a second group of warlocks that followed after the king's armies into battle to heal the injured.

Triver stopped beside Inaris's bed, Ser'deni was sleeping beside him on her own bed. He was given a chair by one of the nurses and he thanked her quietly before settling between his two friends. Ser'deni's long dark hair reached out like dark tendrils of smoke and he pushed some hair from her face. It had been no easy task in forcing the mage into going to the infirmary last night. They were all a stubborn lot when it came to being treated. Even Inaris had made a fuss!

Triver turned his attention to Inaris and he smiled slightly. There had been a time when Inaris was quite dear to his heart. He would never deny that at one point he had feelings for Inaris, but those flames of one-sided desire had faded after the sudden change in his friend. The Inaris that came back after his absence was not the same one he cared for. Inaris was pale, even fairer than Triver. His hair, although blonde, looked white in the light that streamed through the windows above the beds of the patients. His hair was slightly longer than Triver's, allowing the tips to ghost over his shoulders; Inaris always wore his hair pushed away from his forehead and unlike Ser'deni, he would open his eyes. It was uncomfortable to make eye contact with the man. He might have been blind but he had an uncanny ability to see past the fronts people put up. It might have been due to his magic, but it still gave Triver the chills when he would talk to Inaris.

Inaris was the first to wake and he seemed a little surprised that Triver was there. Although he was blind, Inaris had learned to use his magic in order to see what was around him. That and he could smell the cologne that Triver wore. It wasn't strong smelling nor was it sickly sweet like some of the men and women wore. Triver's smell reminded Inaris of the high forests of the mountains to the south; like pine needles and soft moss.

"Good morning." Triver said as he pushed back a lock of Inaris's light hair.

The man smiled before gesturing over towards the black haired woman. "I don't remember her being here last night."

Triver chuckled. "She came a few hours after you did."

"Oh~ really, was I that bad?" Inaris teased, knowing that the prince would blush up to his ears. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding." He sat up and stretched his arms above his head. Inaris was so much smaller than Triver. He was thin and closer to Ser'deni's height, with fine features that seemed almost feminine. Triver still found him handsome, as did many people that encountered the mage.

Triver coughed in order to clear his awkwardness; even Inaris had no clue that Ser'deni was the king's child.

"Will you two stop talking about me--"

"Ah!"

"Close your eyes Ser'deni. You've scared our little Triver."

"Oh shut it. You're blind too!"

"Hm. I think I'm still better looking, that's why he didn't scream when I woke up~"

Triver sighed deeply as the two bickered about their looks. He found their small argument amusing. Usually Ser'deni was quiet and withdrawn; it was rare for her to come out of her shell so much. Even Triver had a hard time in getting her to let loose and laugh; there was a small pang of jealousy though, but he didn't know if it was because Inaris was able to make her laugh or if it was because they were paying so much attention to each other.

"Hey prince, whose better looking, be honest."

Triver hated being put on the spot. "Well you both are." He just wanted them to accept the answer and get back to their bickering.

It was times like this that reminded Triver of his childhood. The mages were four years older than he was, but some of his earliest memories were about them; they had been there for him every step of the way; a four year old Triver following Inaris and Ser'deni into the gardens; an eight year old Triver running to their beds during a thunderstorm. A sixteen year old Triver welcoming them back from war; an eighteen year old Triver seeing them kiss and getting heart broken. A twenty-one year old Triver drinking with them in the middle of the night; a twenty-three year old Triver scared that he was losing his friends.

He wanted to relive those moments if it meant being with them. It felt like years since the last time he's seen Inaris smile like that. It wasn't the same without him around and he was afraid of what would happen to them if he was gone permanently.
Alright...so this post seemed to have nothing to do with what was going on really but I liked it. I wanted there to be a reason that Ser'deni would have interactions with the twins beyond just an occasional instance when she was with Triver, so I was hoping that maybe they could walk in and see this really big change from what they seen yesterday and Triver could introduce them or something. He knows that they probably have some mild fear of what the mages can do so he wanted to fix that by showing them the sides of the mages that he knows.

And maybe the twins this mission would be harder to do since Triver is the opposite of his father. If not I can always edit my post~

I also wanted to kind of show that Inaris is going to play a big part within Triver and Ser'deni's lives, and to the plot. He's really important to them and I have a really good plot idea (that I can share with you) that would be a driving force behind some future plans for Triver and Ser'deni (I can tell you these too.)

Also, I hope I explained the magic a little bit? Pretty much you have to classes of magicians - mages, who are born with natural talents for magic and express them during their childhood, they do not need wands or anything in order to use magic and then you have warlocks who are regular people who manipulate their life force (what magic comes from) through the use of some sort of object like a wand or anything really.

On another note regarding the relationships between Inaris, Triver and Ser'deni.

Triver did have homosexual feelings for Inaris. Triver is bisexual (He might drunkenly hit on Daelyn a few times~). And at one point Ser'deni and Inaris had a physical relationship that Triver found out about.
The two were caught off guard by the man and girl. Houjin and Ukik looked at each other in disbelief. This wasn't happening, was it? Bless their luck, they had found a replacement for the match. "Excuse us for a minute." Houjin said as he scooted a few feet away from them so he could talk things over with Ukik.

She seemed happier than she had been earlier. That was a good sign. "Houjin...maybe this is a sign." She beamed, "It isn't every day that you meet someone willing to join in on a pro-bending team out of the blue."

"Yeah but it seems too good to be true. I wonder if they've done this before?" Houjin was skeptical; it seemed to coincidental that someone wanting to join onto a team was right there. I mean, he knew it was possible but it just seemed a little odd.

"Whoa. We're having a reversal of roles here, buddy." Ukik's smile wasn't as bright as it could have been, "You're supposed to be all for her joining and I'm supposed to be the suspicious one."

She had a point; Houjin was usually the more easy going of the two. Fu, at one point, had been the same way but he began to change a year or two back. That had been hard on them -- wait...why was he thinking of that traitor Fu? This wasn't about Fu any longer; this was about finding a new teammate for the time being. Houjin ran a hand through his long hair before glancing over his shoulder at the two. They would only need her for this one match then after this they could get down to finding a new partner.

"Well what do you say Houjin? She is an earthbender and she is willing to be on our team."

Ukik was looking down at the small pin in her hand. They weren't very big and they weren't made by a professional so there were a few mistakes but they had been a labor of love for her team. It was broken now, the team, but she hoped that they could mend it and maybe the girl was who they were looking for. She reminded Ukik of Fu before he began to grow quiet and short tempered with them. Her eyes trailed to the two and she studied them for a few minutes as she waited for Houjin's response.

The male sighed before gently touching the back of Ukik's hand with his fingertips. "For tonight she can be on the team."

"What about after this match?"

"We have to see about winning first." A small smile came to his lips as he flicked her gently on the forehead. "Then we can see about finding a replacement."

"Or keeping her."

Houjin's smile fell and he let out a deep sigh. He was a sucker for Ukik's turtle seal eyes, she knew it and she exploited that fact every chance she got.

"Fine if she's any good I'll consider it. Now let's go inside since our match is in a little while." Houjin said before walking over to them. Ukik gave a little squeal of delight and she walked behind him as she fixed the back of the pin as best as she could. Houjin was the first to reach them and he held out his hand.

"Welcome to the team...well unofficially. We've got to win this match before we can decide if you're going to be a permanent fixture." Houjin smiled.

Ukik stood next to him and she held out the pin. "It's our team pin, for good luck." All of the pins were hand carved with a relief of a badgerfrog. Ukik had learned the skill from her father. Nowadays it was common for betrothal necklaces to be bought at specialized shops but some men still made them at home. Her father had been one of the few in their small neighborhood to make his own betrothal necklace for her mother. Ukik, as a child, had begged her father to teach her how to carve. "It isn't the best pin...but it works...Um. I'll need it back after the match so I can fix the back though." she explained.

Houjin placed a hand on her shoulder before introducing themselves...which he really should have done before going off with Ukik.

"I am Houjin and this is Ukik." He gestured to the girl before shaking his head as she pinned the small good luck charm onto Mara's shirt.

"We better get going though, our match is in a little while and we've got to see if Fu's uniform will fit you."

Ukik lead the way into the stadium and down a small corridor behind the rows of seats.
