Tetras gazed up, drawing his great swords and watching as the gigantic bird swooped down from the sky. It was bigger than any bird he had ever seen in his home land. How did they get that big? Was there magic, some kind of food? Genetic mutation? Either way, that thing seemed menacing. And anything caught in those jaws would be torn apart, bit by bit. Maybe this is what was taking all those carts? It looked big enough to do it. Hell, it might be able to just pick up the thing and carry it away!

The giant bird landed near them, but didn't seem interested in them in the slightest. But, once it landed, it starting eyeing up the cart like a piece of candy. That wasn't going to go over well. It might not be trying to kill them, but their cargo sure would be demolished by that thing. And besides, two of his companions were still in the cart. They would surely get out soon, heating the bird, but they would need a little time. And that's what Tetras had to give them.

Tetras gave a running start, running with force as he made his way behind the bird that had ignored him. Once he got close enough, he would leap towards it, slashing both of his greatswords forward, slashing it's back. Hopefully with it not paying attention to him, he would get a nice clean hit off and hopefully distract it so the others could start trying to kill this thing. It was a mistake ignoring Tetras, and he was going to let this big bird know that. Hopefully the rest of his team would be able to help him take down such a beast. It wasn't going to be easy, but he never backed down from a fight. Right as he leaped, he gave a large battle cry, looking to impale the beast right on its large back, near its neck. Or, at the least, one of its wings.
Alright, big bird. I'm gonna take your ass back to Sesame Street
@Rune_Alchemist oh I'm not complaining, just observing. I know you're a nice (evil) GM
Rather uneventful so far
@Lauder Yeah but I can't really eat toucan. But that fruit sounded nice. So no bandits yet, so sticking to the path should be fine
Tetras seemed to be the one "lucky" enough to sit up front with the horse, steering him through the beaten path of the jungle toward their destination. He had a good sense of direction, and growing up in a land with similar forests as this, he had no problems with the heat and humidity. However, before they set off, he stripped his full plate mail down to just just breastplate. No matter how used to the heat he was, in all that, he could easily get heat stroke. He didn't want to die before they even met the enemy. But a breastplate at least covered his vitals, which were the most important part. Other things he could handle. It also helped out the horse that had to carry him, even if he was just sitting on the front of the cart steering with the reigns.

It seemed as though the woman with the sword and shield was the only one who hadn't listened and stayed outside the cart. That was fine, having two people coming out to surprise the enemy was still advantageous. And having two outside could make up more aware, and at least fight then off until the other two came out. The problem was, he didn't know how well they all fought. He just kind of trusted that they were to be somewhat competent, without even seeing anything that might prove their worth. No matter. He could handle himself he had to. Even if this elite soldier was sent on a suicide mission to get rid of him, he would not roll over and die so easily. He would conquer this land and prove that nothing could stand in his way. And, hopefully along the way, he could find himself. Or more importantly, what he was.

Tetras held his hand up, signaling his companion walking alongside the cart to halt as he also stopped the horse. Something didn't feel right, and the wildlife stormed off in the area. And it wasn't because of their cart, as they were usually seeing a wagon like this. No, it was like in his homeland when something dangerous lurked in the forest, and their was a brief period of quiet and lack of animals before the creature attacked. He stood on the front of the cart, drawing both his great swords as he attempted to survey the surrounding area.

~investigate the surrounding area and the sudden disappearance of a few animals in the immediate area~

It's Kakashi I swear
@Dynamo Frokane I like half breed personally, but I do agree with the using for halfling
Cool, we got a map and a wagon! Hopefully nobody drinks all the alcohol... That would be a shame. But I don't know, I thought the plan was pretty good. Although the lady with the sword and shield seemed to dislike it. Too suspicious she says. Although suspicious or not, I would think they would attack if they really wanted it lol. But I can see your point.

Onwards, to stabbing things! Like water, apparently
The whole getting teleported back to the campfire thing wasn't his idea, but he guessed eventually he would have to come back anyhow. Most of the information wasn't new to him, besides the fact that they had to get some sort of crystal from a place he never heard of. As long as it wasn't too far... He didn't want to travel half way across the globe for a chance that he'll just get killed or disappointed. Well, he was already disappointed with the fact that half these people were actually somewhat important to the mission. He didn't understand how they were even competent enough to dress themselves everyday. Well, no matter. If the gods had told him that he was some sort of "sword" to this woman's "key" then he would protect her. Good news was though, it was more combat for him, that seemed evident. Surely more challenging than killing the low time criminals he's been slaughtering for the last few weeks.

But son of darkness? What did that mean? Maybe it was because of his demonic lineage. But the human, who was the daughter of light, why was that? He wouldn't try to think about it too much. To a degree, he believed the woman. But also, he was simply curious and had nothing better to do. Besides, saving the world seemed like the more important thing right now. With something like that, he didn't want to chance whether it was true or not.

Sinking back into his mortal state, he put his cloak on and pulled up the hood, sitting down next to the same piece of broken wall he did before, next to the fire.

"Look, frankly, I don't like half of you to begin with. And I just met you. But what the messenger said seems very important, and saving the world is a big thing. Like it or not, I'm not taking the chance of it turning out to be true and have myself not help. So once daylight hits, I'll be heading out to get whatever crystal she mentioned. I cannot force any of you to stay, and frankly some of you, I could care less. But if this is something important to you and you would like to help on this journey... Then I guess I'll have to suck it up. This is bigger than me."
