I'm slowly working through the character sheets, but please be patient with me as this hasn't been an easy week. I'm just taking it a couple characters at a time <3

@smarty0114 APOLLO and ARTEMIS is accepted! POSEIDON and VESTA are accepted!

@KZOMBI3 TLAZ looks good except that Tlaz's history hasn't been adjusted for the new timeline and needs to be tweaked a bit. Let me know when you've done that and I'll look her over again :)

@Akayaofthemoon In the fears of HATHOR there is a line that says "She fears for what has happened to the others of her pantheon that she has not seen since the War of the Gods." In the roleplay, we'll be essentially "ignoring" the gods that aren't being played by other people, they are still there but not interacted with. Simply deleting this line will solve that :) Once it is deleted, she's accepted and can be moved over.

@psych0pomp VELES is accepted!

This RP is a Slice of Life and Plot Driven cocktail that will be focusing on mythological gods from ancient pantheons. Players will be playing one to four gods straight from ancient mythology navigating mortal life years after waking up powerless in Rome, Italy during World War II. After finally settling into life on earth, the gods are once again thrown into chaos when one of their own mysteriously dies – a feat thought impossible.

When I say it is a cocktail, I mean that players will be able to choose for themselves whether to focus more on the plot aspects of the roleplay or if they would prefer to experience slice of life moments.

The War of the Gods. It was hardly the first, gods squabbled all the time – just, not on this scale. While no one could really pinpoint the reason for the war, everyone could confidently point their fingers at who started it – the Romans and the Greeks. The two pantheons always were at each other’s throats for one reason or another, and tension kept mounting with each small-scale war until the Greek pantheon was roping in the Japanese pantheon. The Romans retaliated by bringing in the Egyptians. It continued like this until a plethora of pantheons were battling each other, their battles spilling into the mortal world, and wreaking havoc on the universe.

Until it stopped and all that existed were their dreams.

In 1943, a unit of Italian soldiers ducked into some rubble in Rome, Italy. It was in the midst of World War II and the Allies were bombing them. The leader, a man younger than he should be, kicked in a block of muraled wall in the ancient ruins. His fellow soldiers were dragging their injured as they desperately ducked into the small antechamber to avoid the bombs. One of the injured was the first to notice it, his glazed eyes focusing all at once on the large stone situated in the middle of the room. It almost looked like obsidian, with an ancient language etched into the surface. After the airplanes had left, the Italian government was alerted to the presence of the strange stone. It was breathtaking, mesmerizing, and the Italians were none the wiser to the gods stirring in the chamber below their feet.

In the chaos of the war, the gods found it too easy to slip into society. It became crystal clear the strange stone, which the Italians began to call the Colossus, was containing them in a certain radius when one of the gods took a step too far. He was overcome with pain, black poison spreading in his veins, and he fell to the ground. He began to crawl back into the radius, but before he could make it, the poison reached his heart – he stilled. After that, the gods measured the distance from his body carefully and found a way to live within society in the Colossus’s large radius.

Things became a lot harder when the Allies seized the Colossus from the Italians, transferring into British hands and bringing the stone overseas. The gods were quick to board boats and follow. The pattern over the years persisted, the gods settling into one place until the Colossus moved and they were forced to relocate. It helped cover up the fact that they were forever young, at least.

It is now October 2021, and the gods have found themselves located in Seattle, Washington after a private buyer had bribed the Colossus from the storage bowels of a museum. They’ve been in Seattle for the past five years now.

For this roleplay, we will be using old mechanics and trying new mechanics. We want to emphasize player choice and the use of consequences in this roleplay. We’ve implemented the below methods to do that and more.

We also want to stress that it is your choice how you want to play. If you prefer slice of life, then there will be moments and choices to take advantage of that. However, there will be a plot that runs in the background to drive the roleplay forward to avoid stagnation. Interacting with the plot or not is your own personal choice. If you want something with a little more plot, then there will be choices and a new mechanic to help you get involved in the plot more. Overall, whichever you choose, there WILL be consequences.

Like Descension 1.0, we will be using Narration Posts to move the plot forward. Narration posts will be written by the GM and will mark the end and beginning of a new scene. This is rather straightforward and used by most roleplays in some capacity.

We will give a two-week advance most of the time before a scene ends and a new narration post is posted. There will be times where I might make the executive decision to push a post out in order to keep momentum, but for the most part there will be a warning. To keep the narrative flow, we ask that you finish up your scenes before then or utilize the good ole Flashback in your post.

Event Mode is a new mechanic that we are very excited to be using! It is inspired by tabletop games like Dungeons and Dragons. Of course, don’t be worried about failing a dice roll and dying or something. Event Mode is used for when a player wants to get involved in the plot.

How this works is that we will hold a private DM conversation with the player(s) in which we set the scene. The player(s) will make their own creative choices and we will change the scene accordingly. This is for when someone wants to write a plot post, we can give them the barebones of a scene they can write in their post later on. Player(s) do not need to explain their choices to us in DMs or give reasoning, as their character’s thought process can be explained in their post.

To get involved in an Event Mode, we will most likely put in narration posts leads that a character can follow up on. If your character wishes to follow up on one of those leads, then hop over into the designated discord channel and drop a react on the lead you wish to follow! Be warned, though, not all leads will be listed. If you wish to enter Event Mode without leads being given, just drop us an @ on discord and we will get back to you.

Remember! Choices have consequences.

No deadlines! …to an extent.

The only one who really has a deadline is me, unfortunately. Narration posts will be stated when they will be posted, as stated above, and as such it is your responsibility to wrap up your scene beforehand. If you cannot wrap it up, because sometimes life is like that, then try to use flashbacks in your next post (also stated above). For the most part, you won’t get penalized for missing narration posts here and there.

HOWEVER! If you ghost in the discord, are not active enough in the thread after given a warning, or are holding writing partners back, then I reserve the right to kill off your character. Don’t worry! If you are COMMUNICATING with me and forewarn me of inactivity, I will just put a pin in your character and scene.

We are here to have fun, which is why I am not going to babysit you guys. I get that sometimes life gets in the way or inspiration isn’t flowing. Me breathing down your neck isn’t fun for me, so I doubt it’ll be fun for you.

You can have a total of FOUR characters.
Any pantheon is welcome, but NO WHITEWASHING.
No PRIMORDIAL BEINGS. This includes titans and creation god/desses.
We will not be allowing Abrahamic or monotheistic adaptations of gods in this roleplay.
Gods that exist in two pantheons will be treated as two different deities. Example: Dionysus and Bacchus.
