I feel like Myriad Reality is somehow the secret glue holding this entire site together

People like to nudge aside the fact that there's a level of commitment to hosting, and joining an RP. The majority of players don't have it in either case, regardless of how interesting an idea is.

I've been gone so long that I forgot what the status bar was like. It's like coming back to an old apartment, except it's not an apartment anymore, it's just two walls and a lot of heroine addicts.

Jenso was torn from the icy waters with a large splash of ice and water. The birds landed gracefully on the sheet of ice, but Jenso hit his head. Still, he could see Paulie's sillouette crouching over him with his glove placed flat against the lake's surface. He frowned and shook his head, running towards Pharie. The warbly birds dragged Jenso after him, while three more of the little puffers joined the group and rushed towards the shore. Looks like Jenso was saved in the nick of time.

~ End Of Chapter 20 ~
Jenso's attempt was futile. The monster had grabbed his leg and pulled him further down into the depths of the water. IT seemed he was a goner, victim to the water beast's claws. But his momentum suddenly stopped. The beast was caught in something strange, a pillar of ice that stemmed from the surface, spiked like a vine with millions of little thistles. It struck the beasts tail and bottom arms, causing him to let go of Jenso. Then, from behind, two little puffy monsters grabbed Jenso with their razor sharp claws and pulled him to the surface. No, it couldn't be!

It was the Warbly birds!
It wasn't enough. The ice parted beneath his feet and gave him no traction or solid footing to do much at all, and Jenso ended up falling into the cold waters below. The drop in temperature was absolutely shocking, but Jenso was still conscious and he could still see.

He saw the monster swim past him, and below, noticing that it had no legs, and only a large, shimmering dorsal fin propelling it forward. Jenso also heard something pounding on the ice above him, but it might've just been his imagination. He had to get out of the water, but the cold temperature quickly overpowered his ability to move..
Jenso attempted to dodge, but his footing wouldn't allow it. The claw came down and raked at his back with two of its nails, tearing open his shirt and leaving a couple shallow cuts that bled lightly on his back. When he turned to punch it again, it was already gone, under-water once more. The two holes that it emerged from then began to bubble. Several yards away, the ice busted open to reveal the monster's full upper body. Two of its claws grabbed the ice on either side of its torso, linked below a large armored chest area that connected to its head, and two more arms the lingered above it like clawed antennae. It opened its long, alligator-like maw and roared at Jenso, revealing several rows of purple teeth, and two deep yellow eyes without pupils. In a moment, the ice between the monster, and the two holes it made earlier, gave way completely. And unfortunately, that's where Jenso was standing.
Jenso's icey fist crashed against the middle claw and cracked it in half. The purple arm flew back underwater, and the claw began to ooze blood from where it broke. Suddenly, another claw popped up from the ice, behind Jenso, and slashed vertically at his back.
@Mokley What group is Gaius headed towards, literally everyone else?

In Order Of Appearance

Ser Vermont

A nutty restorative mage who studies his field in private, and rarely speaks to anyone about his research. He is often seen.. Well, nowhere. The only time people see him, is when he leaves his home and research center for food and materials. Vermont wears a loose black robe that always seems dirty, and has a pair of golden rimmed glasses that he cant see anything without. Ah, right, and he's very old.

Yirius, Where Magic Triumphs

Moonlight cascaded across the obsidian tiles of Ser Vermont's research facility as Victor found his seat among the the most advanced mages in Yirius, poised to witness a revolutionary new restorative magic's reveal. Vermont had been in hiding for the past several months, only showing himself in Yirius square when his appetite forced him to restock his preserves, or his appetite for knowledge pushed him to perform questionable activities. Today he would showcase the fruit of his labor, that being, as he so bluntly put it, reanimation. Such a terrifying sort of magic was frowned upon as a theory, but with his apparent success, the high counsel of mages in Yirius had no choice but to acknowledge what he was about to show them.

At victors sides sat his parents, garbed in robes of purple silk alongside their son and peers. Helga VonLanmire and her sheepish husband, Victor the first. Quiet murmurs were exchanged between the 10 onlookers, but Victor's parents were uncharacteristically silent. Truth was, they weren't particularly fond that the counsel had decided to allow Vermont's work to go uninterrupted. This was an abhorrent practice, and the corpse he'd chosen to demonstrate this on was unsightly.

Vermont took his place in the center of the darkened room, and lit the torches that lined each end of his room, giving it a deathly purple glow as it refracted off of the obsidian flooring and mixed with the pale moonlight beams. He stood next to a small operating table made of hardwood, several steps away from the room's only entrance. He cleared his throat as he faced the 10 people before him, with his back to the exit. The show was about to begin.

"Ladies, gentlemen... I assure you that this will not be another waste of your time.. Investigations in the realm of restorative magic are... Poor, and limited. But I have brought progress to this rare science, to which few understand, and even fewer can perform." Vermont started, adjusting his golden-framed glasses with his index finger. The man was decrepit, almost comparable to the corpse that lay bare between him and those he was presenting it to. As always, his black robe was torn, and loosely clung to different parts of his body, stained with ink, dirt and sweat. "I will be bringing this man back from the dead."

Choofa Cravings

Jeff made his way out of the cave and into the gorge's main area, where if he looked up, he would see a collection of purple gas spewing out into the canyon above him, blocking out the sky. He seemed to be pretty damn deep from the looks of it, and had only one way to go, to the opposite edge of the gorge. His path was layered with black and purple rocks, all uneven and devoid of plant life. There were no Choofa, but fluids seeped from various cracks in the wall, and phantasmal illusions prodded at his senses. This place was heavy with magical energies.
