I feel like Myriad Reality is somehow the secret glue holding this entire site together

People like to nudge aside the fact that there's a level of commitment to hosting, and joining an RP. The majority of players don't have it in either case, regardless of how interesting an idea is.

I've been gone so long that I forgot what the status bar was like. It's like coming back to an old apartment, except it's not an apartment anymore, it's just two walls and a lot of heroine addicts.

"Don't need'ta," Dacer commented. Tiger abruptly hopped to the foot of the massive door and Dacer rose his bow to its center. The bow glowed with a blue energy, and the door swung open slowly, revealing a contorted mass of ice near the center, channeling its magic power. There stood a black and blue orb, just like Orobo's near the center of the beastly figure, but she didn't noticed them just yet.
@RyuShura I very much enjoy the concept of restraining faults behind using magic. It would give these knights or however they may be labeled a much larger burden than simply defending the weak or trying to eradicate dangerous creatures. Perhaps two different sects, and internal conflict risen from what emotions they draw upon? Darker, more twisted magic incites a far more gruesome or rapid transformation in humans, and the alternative, pulling on brighter emotions or experiences might have less of an effect, or more of an emotional corruption, alla necromancy V.S. elemental magic. If your hero allows himself to be consumed by things like revenge, greed, pride etc, he may find himself falling into a very unfavorable denomination, and vice versa if he sticks to his righteous instinct. There's potential for redemption if he dips too far into darker magic as well.

As always, I think it's important to distinguish between Arcane, and Ki, where Ki focuses on physical abilities, and the Arcane covers all magical foundation.

I'm digging the 'knights' idea quite a bit, yea.
"I wouldn't bother them if their meteors aren't active," Dacer remarked, pointed at the globe. The orbs glowed, but weren't blinking like Pharie's in the north. "They won't leave their rooms unless we fuck with them- Well uh.. I think."
"Flame... Dragon..?" Dacer asked slowly, "Whatever you say, sport. I find it hard to believe you busted through that thing with just arcane energy and brute force, though. That barrier had to be flooded with arcane energy that outclasses both of us. You couldn't, unless.." Dacer paused and followed Jenso into the mountain temple, thinking it over carefully. The main entrance lead into a long hall, lined with torches that glowed bright orange against the dark iron floors. The hall met a large circular room, and at its center, a scale model of the earth was shown. It showed a massive single continent that took up more than half the world, and on the other side, as it rotated, it showed many small islands. There were also large glowing spots on the large continent that looked like the meteors. A red one, a blue one, a green one, but... Orobo's meteor was darkened now.

There were four massive iron doors to the northeast, northwest, southeast, and southwest respectively as well, with elemental symbols engraved in them. The other two elementals seemed dormant, but Pharie's door, made obvious by the blizzard mural engraved in its length, was glowing. Light flooded its etched artwork. Dacer whistled, impressed by the giant temple. "Reminds me of Gaia's temple... In fact, this place is almost.." Dacer paused and looked at the giant globe that floated in the temples center. "Exactly the damn same!"
Typically I would handle the setting, yes, but if you prefer to have more involvement and input, I'm totally open to ideas. I do however handle much, if not all of the plot. A bit of mystery, lack of spoilers and all that jazz.

You would make the hero (Or Heroes, if you prefer to have multiple hero characters throughout) and I would do anything else that you wouldn't want reign over. You could also create non-hero side characters, if you'd like to have more control over the interaction, but that would be up to you of course. Typically, they start off with your main character going about his/her day to day life, whether it's rough, solo, with friends, however you'd like it to start off. Within the first few chapters, you'll be greeted by a pretty blatant antagonizing force which I'll use to contrast your character completely depending on their personality. During this encounter, your character may find that he has innate powers that he can only access briefly, or if you'd prefer a less power-oriented growth curve, would gain access to abilities through other means later on. This first encounter always results in a crippling defeat, and often nets some brutal losses, or a bruised ego, depending on who you find yourself against. From there, your character would make his first major decision which dictates exactly how their path begins.

For example, one character might seek vengeance, and the power to enact that vengeance either through training himself, finding a mentor, looking for artifacts, etc.

Another character may be crippled by the defeat, and go through an arc to regain their confidence before they even decide to enter their primary 'origins arc' so to speak.

The options are limitless, and ultimately, up to you and how your character acts.

I like the post-apocalyptic idea, and I'm already brimming with scenarios! In a setting like this, where monsters and magic are dangers rather than accessible resources/allies, your character might either be well adapted to survival and danger before he gains access to any otherworldly abilities, or find themselves under the protective watch of another group/individual, perhaps an older sibling or parent, or a group of friends, something along those lines?
~ Chapter 42 ~

Arcane And Ki Unity

"How the hell did you break the barrier like that? Was it because I was distracting him? You'd think that he would have a better grasp on his inner defenses, but.." Dacer paused and waved Jenso over, "Guess not!"
Orobo's gem shattered against Jenso's fist like a glass jewel. Without the ability to shift his form and protect himself from Jenso, he was unable to dodge, or protect himself. With a loud crashing flash of orange light, Orobo's form, and his barriers, turned to dust and fell apart, leaving Jenso in the center of the display, standing victorious over the remains of the dead elemental. All the remained was a pile of broken ore, now.

"Whoa," Dacer called out, waving at Jenso from beside the metal door. He took aim with his bow and blasted a hole in the middle of the iron just before turning back to Jenso and smiling, "What the hell was that? Haha!"

@RyuShura I'm a little peculiar. Often times I like to mix the two, which is very strange, but I have a huge bias for Fantasy, and it's a lot more my speed. The antagonizing force I use from A Hero Tale is accustom to a Fantasy setting, but both are applicable. More often than not, the setting just creates itself as the story progresses.
Jenso's arm melted the very spikes that might have scratched his face and lower torso as he neared the dome, and crashed against the white stone with relentless power. The sudden fusion of Ki and arcane energy seemed to come from nowhere, more than enough to crush Orobo's inner barrier and shatter an entire half of its shape, leaving him open to attack. He stood there, and looked at Jenso in surprise. He seemed too distracted by something else to react, or maybe it was..

Looking at his Gem, there were several pieces of Granite lodged within it, launched at an insanely high speed by Jenso's attack earlier. He was stunned, and his form was losing shape as his basket-ball sized gem cracked..
@RyuShura Aha! Did you have a character concept/character in mind, and/or any preferences in setting?
