I feel like Myriad Reality is somehow the secret glue holding this entire site together

People like to nudge aside the fact that there's a level of commitment to hosting, and joining an RP. The majority of players don't have it in either case, regardless of how interesting an idea is.

I've been gone so long that I forgot what the status bar was like. It's like coming back to an old apartment, except it's not an apartment anymore, it's just two walls and a lot of heroine addicts.

Shaidra took a step back and snarled angrily. "Teshra," she growled. Her posture loosened and her eyes became clearer, behind the smokey black film that covered them. "Where...What?" She slowly straightened her stance and pressed the knuckles of her right hand into her chest gently. "Shaidra." Her eyes were unsure. The smoke faded further, revealing streaks of blue light that ran from the edges of her eyes, to her pupils, for moments at a time. "There you are. He found me for it... The..." She thrashed herself back and fourth and dropped back to the ground. "She will learn, sooner or later, or she will become another worthless peon like the rest of them." Shaidra snarled and began stepping forwards, conjuring her elongated triple-set claws. The ground beneath her crumbled and faded. at the same time Jenso's sealed wounds began to throb painfully.
She paused and tilted her head to the side, confused by his words. "No meaning," She grunted, "There is no meaning."
Shaidra's hands released Jenso for a moment, allowing her to jump behind him and phase through the flames. As the smoke lifted, she was already circling Jenso, waiting patiently to make her next move. "Shaidra," She growled, "Shaidra!"
Her eyes flickered and she began to dig her hands into Jenso's shoulder's, deep enough to touch bone. Black smoke began to emit from the backs of her wrists, and fork into his flesh. "Shut up," She roared, headbutting him in the nose.
Shaidra pushed his shoulders harder into the ground an thrust herself towards him with an angry hiss. "No more words... Insist," She growled, "Stupidity is toxic to the naive."

Glance Through Myself

Shaidra moved her face towards Jenso's, inching closer towards him a series of shallow breaths.
With his final word, the entirety of Nexus' dream world collapsed and the three heroes awoke in their individual prisons. It seemed that his realm was temporary. Or perhaps something had stopped him?

Either way, Jenso was now face to face with Shaidra, who leered over his body, with both of her hands pinning his shoulders to the ground.

"Sleeeeeeping..." Shaidra Growled hoarsely, with a subtle smile behind her mask.

Kevin grit his teeth hard enough to crack the muscles in his jaw. This had been a righteous disaster. "Back into the cart!" He shouted, donning his helmet again, "We're leaving." Both of the knight below Lefonderous looked backwards, confused and irritated. Erik looked back up at Lefonderous for a moment, only to see the man smiling, and motioning his head towards Kevin.

"Back to the stables, ye old ass,"
He mouthed, pulling himself back into the building. Erik's partner has already made his way back to the caravan, but something in the absent-minded soldier's mind clicked in all the wrong ways, forcing him into the first floor of the civilian building. He charged towards the door, and slammed it with his shoulder, knocking it wide open with ease. The back door, Erik thought, rushing through the messy living quarters with little regard for the dining room setup in his way. The table and chairs crashed to the ground as he stampeded forward, waiting for Lefonderous to find his way down the stairs.

The crowd had begun to disperse quickly as the water fell. Nothing squelched mild unrest quite like magical rain. Especially when it dropped in particularly massive bunches. Kevin had already made his way to the front of the caravan, forcing the horses into action. In only a few minutes, the massive wagon was moving, and headed for the town's main road. Erik and Ferdinand, along with the sudden influx of heavy rain, were left behind.

The rain didn't stop falling, even after Lefonderous had left. Although it wasn't obvious, the real culprit hadn't been the boastful man, but rather, an accomplice of his, hiding in they granary that sat on the opposite end of the plaza. He watched carefully from a crack in the wall, drinking slowly from an ornate silver cup every few seconds. When he caught a glimpse of the knights taking leave though, the man quickly propelled himself from the wall, and casually made his way into the crowd, using the panic as cover. Hopefully nobody would take notice of the man, sipping away at his little stemless cup, as he moved to notify somebody else at the gathering. But as he moved forwards, he was pushed aside by a panicked civilian. He spun around, caught himself, and began stepping backwards cautiously... Only to trip over Isolde's body, landing hard on his back with a loud thud. He dropped his cup, and it rolled away with a series of metallic clinks, as he rolled over and clutched his head with one hand. He landed awkwardly, and bruised his skull. The sudden disorientation kept him from doing much of anything. He wobbled in place, in a daze, waiting for his vision to reorient himself, but the rush of footsteps and falling rain did little to help the process along.

Dream Of A Way

He was the first to arrive in the serene meadow. There were a few hills, trees from across the multiverse, and a stream that ran across it, to the edge of the new reality. The sky was a cascade of pastels, and the grass looked as if it would break apart and let Alvios fall through, like strands of cloudy thought. Moments later, Jenso appeared, several yards away. Only a minute after that, Bruce dropped in, next to the edge of the river.

In the center of the field, between the three heroes, Nexus levitated with his legs crossed, and his hands connected, in meditation. His body let off a blue glow, but his eyes were closed. It was clear, he was putting as much energy as he could manage into maintaining this meeting. It was a familiar setting for Jenso. He'd been here once before, in a dream.
Nexus began to fade away as he stood over Alvios's body. "If you manage to escape this place, the next time we meet,
may be as enemies."
Nexus rose his palm over the man's head, and irradiated him in a blue mist that slowly lulled him to sleep. "If not, it was a pleasure."
