I think you should either make the cost exponential too, which would involve MATHS, or we simply agree that "the separation out of your guns is just for funs". And you just record how many points worth you spent on each weapon system next to that weapon system, and that's its "power level".

So, for that battery of 10 20 CM railgun turrets, you record that "40" point value as the power of that weapon system.

If you want a little differentiation between lots of little guns and a few big guns, a way would be to say that lots of little hits lower shields more effectively, but big shots pierce armor better. (But not as much better as actual math would imply. Because a 100 pt 5M railgun would impart the same kinetic energy as 2500 10 CM railguns.) Or maybe hand wave it with, "little guns reload/fire faster".
So KoL, are you only gonna do big respond to everyone posts? Cause me and Vocab have been waiting for three days.

I like your idea, but it will make you immune to my empire's main fighting tactic (artificial mind control)

How so? If your artificial devices work by artificially manufacturing PSI mind control, yes, these guy's would be immune. If it's artificial mind control via "we insert stuff into your brain and it controls you via electro-stuff-stuff, then, being immune to PSI wouldn't help.
Oooh, my interest..

My basic concept is a there's a generally decadent, content to hide out on their world remnant of humanity, just wanting to live out their lives in luxury. To protect themselves, they made a clone army so that they wouldn't have to do the work. The clones, however, were a bit more ambitious than intended. The clones engineered a leader for themselves, and set about beginning to conquer the stars. They still protect their creators, but merely because it is no burden to them.

A special thing about them is they have a psi-rating so negative that it's an advantage. They're resistant/immune (depending on what tech I've gotten) to Psi-Abilities, but can never generate them. So, you can't read one of the clones minds or infect them with a psi-plague, but you could totally still levitate a rock through their head or crush their armor in on them.

Checking the wiki soon to see if that relates to anything existing.

So, how realistically are we treating weapon designs? Is it just flavor whether you want to have a bunch of small guns or one ginormous cannon and what's really paid attention to is your tech/type/total points spent?

I ask because, treated realistically, lasers via point cost are shown to grow in power linearly, while railguns grow in power exponentially. A railgun with 20 MM round will impart 4 times as much kinetic kill as a railgun with a 10 MM round, given the kind of silly assumption of same round length.

Indeed, fighting where collateral damage might occur. :P
Wow, nifty. I thought Platinum was Captain Overwhelming Brute Force Punches Out Dragons, the one with the least flexible or asymmetric power, but the most power.

"This light blade's attack power is so great that it's said that Yggdrasil can bring down whole armies with a single swing of it"
Yup.

Platinum swings one of his swords once, and the demonic knight is kerboom, then doubles up and annhilates all the prisoners.

He then comes down and pats Cyrin on the back, "Good hustle", as Legion has by now regained use of his brain, exponentially made 1000 of himself, and suffocates Emilia under a dogpile going, "IT IS INEVITABLE".
He hit the platform so hard their individual chains broke?

He's that boss.

More realistically speaking, the situation might be where they weren't individually chained at the feet, but had one chain runner between all of them (or per 5 or 10 or whatnot), that was attached to the platform. If the platform breaks, everyone can free themselves from the runner pretty quickly.
Hah, that Emilia plot. I wonder what would happen if Měihóu was on that scene and had decided to mess with Emilia by transforming into Fei and popping out, "That's an impostor!"
Měihóu Niángniang

"Heh, I got a thing for people in general." Měihóu smirks in response. Her stride becomes somehow theatrical in style, exaggerated in purpose, as she launches herself into the tunnel past the twins. Her form shifts in front of her eyes, back to her "standard" appearance.

With the pacing of a well rehearsed speech, "I'm Měihóu Niángniang, the loving fighter!" Měihóu proclaimed to her "audience" of three with an upraised staff, now walking backwards into the unknown... though a keen eye not distracted by her antics would note her tail sweeping for obstacles like a blind man's cane. Měihóu began twirling her staff around arms and neck, the great unwieldy object somehow moving with grace. "The great sage of love and warrior-god of freedom. I see beauty in every heart and permit no body to be shackled!" She stopped for a stage whisper, the staff somehow continuously looping around one wrist held away despite Měihóu barely moving her hand, "Except the fun kind." She continued back into her "routine", "When I say I can be anything you want, I actually mean it! When my staff adjudicates conflicts, it inflicts no true damage!" She winked at the "actually mean it". At "no true damage", she brought the staff down hard, on a single raised pinky. A crack could be heard, yet the pinky did not bend. In another stage whisper aside, she informed them, "Even though that should have broken it, my pinky'll be fine in like, ten minutes. It's only stunned."

Then, rejoining formation as though nothing had happened, "So, that clear up all your questions about me?"
