I like collabs when it's a one on one fight scene between people that can work it out in a day or two. But otherwise, yeaaah.
Well to be fair, it borrowed a lot of elements from Episode 4. But they're not as glaring or obvious as one would think so it works out.

My main problem is that some of the elements it borrowed, it felt like it borrowed obligatorily and the movie would have been better if it hadn't.

The arrow landed solidly, sinking into the shield. By luck, it managed to glance off the arm carrying the shield, but it wasn't quite a direct hit and only dented it. Her arm was just a bit above center due to the shape of shield tapering down in width near the bottom, meaning the center of mass was shifted up a bit.

As Gunnaya began to move down, Blithe took that as her opportunity, rushing forward with another Burst of Speed as the birds began to attack her from the side. While the birds could be very distracting, if a bird attempted to get in front of her to peck at one of the eyeholes in her helmet while Blithe was moving flat out, it would get smacked by a very quickly moving and much heavier than it and quite unyielding force. Trusting in her armor, shield, and helm, Blithe aimed to shield rush Gunnaya before she could fire another arrow after landing. Just before Blithe expected impact, she put her free hand on her shield, twisting it so the tall shield was closer to horizontal, making the rush harder to sidestep.
So, between the shield AND the armor, Blithe probably isn't going to get injured?

How far does the 40 lb bow penetrate into the shields?
At point blank vs a proper shield (not some flat set of planks), not at all. Doesn't pierce through the other side.
Ok, I'm just coming here (and double posting, for that matter) to comment that I've just come back from watching Star Wars, I gotta say that Hamill aged very well, Luke he managed to one up Obi-wan as the most handsome Jedi ever, IMO.

Can't wait for the next one, even if it's a rip-off now I'm enthralled.

Heh, glad you liked it. :)

Haha cool. I'd say it draws about 120 lbs. Not Mary Rose English-bowman levels, but it's a proper 5-6ft longbow and she's a strong girl.

Hmmm... This is harder than I thought. Everyone who wants to show off how much bows rock fires their bow against a crappy flat non-composite shield. Everyone who wants to show off how much shields rocks fires a crappy 30-40 lb draw bow.
What kinda poundage you got on that longbow?

Cause I be doing research on shields vs bows now. :P
Soo, I'm waiting on KoL, I think.
Hey how big is Blith's shield? From the tip of her head to her crotch? Her knees? I'd think a shield going all the way to her toes would be pretty damn heavy, unless it's really thin or something.

It is indeed pretty heavy, it tapers as goes down to a point, designed to be rested in the ground whenever she stops and takes cover behind it. While she's moving, it won't cover all of her, she has to duck and crouch behind it to be short enough to hide behind it.

Basically, it's full size shield from her shoulders to a little below her waist, then it tapers down in width to her toes. She can take full cover behind it, but has to crouch down a little as well as set one leg behind the other. It's definitely not full cover while moving. It's also why she likes to combine it with tree cover when she can.
Gunnaya would spot Blithe closing the distance faster than she could traverse from tree to tree. As Gunnaya readied her bow, Blithe noticed and took cover next to a tree trunk, the combined shield and trunk making a mini-little fortress. Blithe peeked through a small hole, likely designed for her to be able to fire her crossbow out of from behind the shield.
