"So, why are we guarding this again, Andrien?" Said a younger male guard, next to the runic circle to a more middle aged angel.

"Because we were told to." Was Andrien's exasperated reply. One got the feeling he had been asked similar questions many times.

The younger guard raised a hand to pull up on his collar and shifted a bit, resettling his armor on his shoulders. He let his spear hang loose in his hands till it was nearly falling off, while Andrien continued standing at full attention.

"No, I mean, really, what would another faction want with the teleporter?" The younger guard pressed again.

"Well, for one reason, they could cut off our reinforcements."

"Why would we need reinforcements? We've got the Eclipse Princess out there fucking shit up. I mean, have you heard those explosions?"

"For all we know, she could be dead, and those explosions could be Machina bombs. Which is why we should stand at attention and do our jobs."

"Oooh, ooh, are you guys talking about the Eclipse Princess?" One of the aerial guards flitted down, perching her elbows on Andrien's shoulders. "I heard she's actually unreliable and doesn't want to fight in the war and might betray us! Can you imagine having to fight her?"

"Nnnrr." Andrien growled.

"Naw naw, Eclipse Princess is totally on the level, I heard it was she just had something to wrap up before rejoining the war effort. Now, that Machina Angel, that's what a traitor looks like."

'Rrnnng." Andrien continued growling.

"Who? And no, the Eclipse Princess has tooootallly got to have something going on. I mean, have you seen her color scheme? Soooo edgy dark. She's gotta have something going on."

"GRRRR." Growling intensifies.

"Edgy? IT'S A DRESS! And it has fuchsia accents! The color that is as close to pink as you can get without being pink!"

"RRRRRRRRRGGH."

"Vampires wear dresses! And red is totally a vampire color, and when you do light red, that IS pink!"

"CAN WE PLEASE GUARD STOICALLY IN SILENCE!?! For five minutes, please, that's all I ask." It was hard to tell if Andrien was snapping angrily or having a breakdown. Maybe both.

"... Yes, sir..." They returned to their posts.

@floodtalon Considering that I have access to nukes, I have a very very effective way to emp an entire battlefield.

@floodtalon Well, here's the thing. Why would the machina ever design and deployed EMP weapons that could only be used to hurt their own faction? For disabling and capturing traitors, maybe. But you'd never deploy such a risky weapon unless you had a countermeasure.

That's my backstory reason they discontinued Miyu's Daimyo mech... Because a mech designed such that it's best at fighting Machina is a really horrendous waste of resources and would be dangerous if it fell into enemy hands.

As far as effect if it hit directly, I'd imagine it takes out the wings and sensors. The fusion reactor would probably be hardened, lest Machina forces explode every time someone EMPs them.

Put another way, if we rule EMPs go through Machina shields... Miyu's going to render the Machina forces half-irrelevant in every battle from now on by turning her mech into an EMP missile delivery engine.

Unless she ends up on their team at the end of the battle, which is now suddenly a possibility, apparently. O_o.

She's had her shields OFF this entire time she's been flying, because no ranged attacks have been aimed at her (other than some from Grafdakka and Co, but Jorm conveniently helped her dodge). So that capacitor is still fully charged because she hasn't used it.

The punishment Miyu has taken has entirely been melee attacks, which the shield can't stop anyway, so... No point having them on.
