Abolishing the monarchy because "it will give off a good impression" is comedically ridiculous. Who is Canada supposed to be trying to impress?

It's okay to kill animals!!!

I just walked over to the store, probably mercilessly slaughtering a dozen insects along the way, and bought some smoked cow flesh to consume, before going back home and washing my hands with soap and hot water, committing genocide against millions of microorganisms on my hands in the process. Only one of those three incidents of animal killing will have bothered anyone, and it's the most delicious of the three.

Any new basis for Canada's cultural identity that arrives to replace the actual history of Canada as that basis is a) going to be completely contrived and b) probably going to be some fucking modernist abortion of a concept, like multiculturalism. Fuck that a thousand times over.

There are two reasons to preserve the current system. The first is cultural, which I have already laid out the case for, and the second is practical. The constitutional monarchy system works, excellently so; nearly every single one of the most democratic and otherwise most capably governed countries in the world follows the same example followed by Canada. It is an effective system, legally and politically, and any replacement is more likely to be inferior than superior.

Hey Canadians

Canada's national identity has never had anything to do with being subject to anything or anyone. That isn't what the monarchy is about now and it wasn't what the monarchy was about in 1867. Remaining a member of the Commonwealth and maintaining the country's monarchy is less like staying in your parents' basement and more like keeping the surname with which you were born. The monarchy is Canada's surname, and just like how having the last name Johnson does not mean that your entire identity revolves around being the son of someone named John, remaining in the Commonwealth of Nations does not mean that Canada's national identity is grounded in servitude (or in 'Britishness').

Tell me your thoughts on the bill making your national anthem gender neutral?

As a Conservative voter and someone who utterly despises the policies and person of Justin Trudeau, it doesn't really bother me much. The new, gender neutral lyrics are apparently closer to the song's original English lyrics than the current ones. I believe the story there is that a reference to the country's "sons" in particular was added for World War I.

At the very most this is still less egregious than the blatant historical revisionism pressed on to Canada by Justin's father, Pierre, when he was Prime Minister. I would much prefer this to be Justin's worst attack on Canada's history, rather than renaming national holidays or perhaps trying to abolish the monarchy.

A couple spelling and grammar mistakes scattered about that are a little distracting. There's also a few contentions between the lore you have written for your house and your nation and the lore we've written in the group pad. Can't really spite you for that, though, since you can't see the pad.

I'm going to be brutally honest and state the hard truth: a lack of bullying killed Spam. Newcomers were not excluded enough to ward off those who did not belong outright, and the undesirable traits in those members who did manage to fit in were not sufficiently mocked. This is the central issue that led to the various exoduses.
