That doesn't make any sense as a sentence. I have no idea what you are trying (and failing) to say. My best guess is that you were referencing the fact that Aontas' history mentions the country having just recently exited the Great War—a fact as correct as it is irrelevant. That establishes that Aontas participated in the war, as with every other non-neutral player, and nothing else. For reasons I have already succinctly described, Aontas is a terrible choice for our Tyrant. Possibly the single worst.

Plus, I assume that anybody who had been the Great Tyrant had his country steam-rolled and likely dismantled/reduced to prevent another such incident. Since that is what 'historically' has happened.

I believe you have your wars confused. You're thinking of Hitler, not Napoleon. France came out of the Napoleonic Wars in a far better state than it was in before the revolution. It was larger, more populous, more stable, et cetera. France even retained its place as a Great Power, and as continental Europe's primary military force.

Not that those facts are at all relevant, of course. For one, the longest of our submitted national histories is what... three paragraphs? It would not be much of a chore, or a loss, for any one of us to rewrite our histories. Second, we don't necessarily need our history to mirror the Napoleonic Wars exactly. Our main revolutionary aggressor, for instance, could be German-styled rather than French-styled.

Aontas has the smallest population of any nation so far, is geographically isolated and is only a regional power. There is no worse candidate for Tyrant than Aontas.

Kingdom of Aontas

Winter of 1814

A cold wind blew through the snow-covered crushed stone streets of Kienne, leading the northern city's war withered passers-by to stop for warmth next to the pyres dotting the city's roads and courtyards, illuminating the frigid night in their warm glow. All over Kienne, and all over Aontas, the cold and darkness of winter was broken up by flames, their merciless lick fuelled by the propaganda of the revolution. The flags and banners of liberals burned away in great piles, painting the industrial city's smog a shade darker, and casting more than a shade darker the fate of liberalism in the new, old Aontas. The armies of the revolution, once thought invincible, who had cast away Aontas' kings and given liberty to her people, now found themselves cast away in turn. Every so often, the sound of silence that permeated the Aontan capital was broken up by gunshots, the firing squads of the monarchists sparing no ammunition as they enacted their impatient vengeance upon their long-time foes, the blood of senators and of presidents painting the snow beneath their polished shoes a dark crimson. Republicanism was dead, smashed to oblivion, the fires engulfing its symbols—and its writings—as much the bludgeon of its demise as the shot embedded in its faithful's hearts. For the many who had supported the revolution's ideals, the value of the purges was not in defeating their convictions, but in impressing fear unto their believers. Fewer men were willing to die for what they believed than were willing to claim to. And for those loyal allies of the monarchy, who had quieted themselves those long years under the republican yoke, the death of the republic was met with cheers; in conservative circles, songs erupted into the cool midnight air louder than a crack of thunder, the anthem of the kingdom and odes to the nation and her greatness bellowed with the pride and ferocity a man can only possess whilst wringing his rival's neck. From the ashes of the republic, the revellers cried, the kingdom would be born anew: a phoenix, greater and prouder than ever for enduring her trials. The birth of a nation, in fire and in laughter and in blood and in snow, had begun. The white lion of Aontas roared.

Brief History

The Kingdom of Aontas fought on both sides during the Great War. At first, led by the staunchly conservative Queen Maria II, the Aontan Royal Army aided the war's reactionary forces, fighting tooth and nail alongside Oslad and the rest of the Tsardom against the forces of the revolution. Internal unrest by liberal factions within Aontan Parliament eventually forced the Queen to withdraw the army back to Aontas, however, resulting in her assassination by ultra-conservatives. This sparked revolution in Aontas, causing the now openly rebellious liberals to demand that a new monarch not be crowned, and that the kingdom instead be reformed into a republic. Subdued by parliament, the Aontan Royal Army submitted mostly without resistance to a subsequent invasion of Aontas by foreign revolutionary forces, who granted absolute authority to parliament. Parliament then proceeded to reform itself into the senate of the newly created Republic of Aontas, and sent what was now the Aontan Republican Army back to battle—this time against the Tsardom.

This new, second period of involvement in the war did not go well for Aontas. The leadership of the military were mostly loyalists of the deposed monarchy, and the men on the ground were not pleased to have been sent abroad again in the first place. Aontas' participation among the revolutionary forces was largely nominal, its generals avoiding areas of direct conflict and even sabotaging revolutionary efforts at times. This caused outrage among the leaders of the main revolutionary nations, and the Aontan Republican Army was eventually put under the direct control of foreign military officials, most of its forces absorbed into more loyal revolutionary armies as auxiliaries. Many soldiers, and nearly all officers, deserted, fleeing either to reactionary nations (to continue their efforts on the other side), or finding refuge in conservative circles in Aontas.

When it became clear that reactionary forces would prevail, the Aontan Senate was quick to surrender. As the armies of the reactionaries marched into the republic's borders, a second revolt beset the streets of the Aontan capital, Kienne, spurred on by the efforts of the deserted generals of the Aontan Royal Army. Hard-line republicans and other liberals were executed in a public procession, the first and last President of Aontas among them. Moderates in the senate, joined by a new group of decidedly conservative peers in military uniforms, announced the senate's immediate dissolution. Liberals, denounced by the returning Aontan Royal Army as republican traitors, were purged all throughout the kingdom in summary executions. The nephew of the late Maria II, who would soon become King Sverre IV, formally ascended to the throne soon after peace had been achieved in the continent. The newly crowned King emphasised in his ascension speech a desire to rein in monarchist excesses and heal Aontan society. He then reconvened parliament, initiating a new election in which the moderate liberals were soundly defeated by the conservative-leaning monarchists. The age of nationalism in Aontas had begun.
