Karaas: Nalrokan Outpost on the edge of the Great Mirasthian Desert
Infantry Scout Yireth Wroth stood upon the battlements of the outpost overlooking The Dead Sea. The glow of the moon on the sands caused the seemingly never-ending desert to appear as a frozen sea. To think that a place as beautiful as this could be home to such evil as The Purge, the young scout pondered the thought as he scanned over the wasteland. He wondered at the mysteries and hidden secrets that could be buried out there. Of course he was not foolish enough to venture out in search, almost anymore who enters the Dead Sea never returns, his fellow scouts only ventured far enough that's they'd still see the outpost on the horizon before heading back.

He wouldn't be left alone to his thoughts though, as a woman joined him on the battlements. It was Captain Laraysa Shivenen, overseer of this outpost, she was making her rounds about the battlements to check on the men and the status of the surrounding area. Yireth stood at attention upon recognizing his commanding officer but was quickly signaled to be at ease. "Captain Laraysa, I've observed no suspicious activity so far ma'am, he announced as he walked past him to get a closer look at the environment. There was a silence as he carefully examined the dunes, it was only when she turned to face the young scout that she spoke, "How have you been Yireth?" the captain made it her priority to know every soldier under her command. Yireth was a young lad from a small surface settlement that had been established a few years before he was born. His parents were one of the first settlers there and with its location so close to The Dead Sea Yireth took his job here more seriously than most here. While this was good it meant the boy was less likely to be casual when asked. Despite this the captain found it refreshing to see such a patriotic spirit in the lad.

"Very well ma'am, I've received word from one of our scouting parties. Another anomaly was sighted six miles west of our location", Yireth replied with the utmost formality and precision.

"Yireth I asked how you were not for a scouting report", Laraysa chuckled slightly after being reminded of Yireth's stiff nature.

"Apologies, Captain. Honestly I've been on edge for some time now. What with these recent sightings and my mother falling ill I worry for my family", it was clear that a great weight was lifted off this young man's shoulders. Laraysa was about to answer when a faint screech could be heard in the direction of the desert. Laraysa spun around to catch a glimpse of whatever created the noise, on the horizon was a black winged creature, very large to be seen from the distance it was at. Laraysa's first guess was that it was a dragon but in her years as outpost commander she had now known dragons to venture that far out into The Dead Sea...something was wrong. Yireth, send a courier with a letter to the crown then go see your family. I should expect you back here in four days.

The scout's eyes widened in uneasy surprise, "What message would you have delivered?"

"Give a full report of this month's anomalies and sightings. Tell the king that he must summon the conclave, quickly now!

Yireth bolted down the battlements and into the archives, he gathered all the reports filed within this month and placed them within a satchel along with a letter requesting the king to summon The Conclave. With the satchel packed Yireth hurried over to the couriers' quarters and assigned the package to a courier. The messenger mounted his horse with haste and was on his way to the capital.
Alright I think we have enough people to start. The human factions can just be vague until we have someone to create one, as for the "adventure group" there is three so far so we could NPCs if needed. I'll have the first IC post up by tonight.

The bloodrats screeched and skittered away to avoid being crushed by Talan's efforts; they scattered, and a few of them returned for a few more nibbles before they darted away again. He caught one under him, and it hissed and bit him deeply in the arm before it darted away with a crippled tail.

The woman watched this mildly. She didn't answer nor move until she was sure Talan had exhausted his efforts. "You're making them mad," she pointed out. But any Kith would know better: she had no choice but to believe him.

"Calm down and stay still," she sighed, grabbing his wrist -- and she carefully undid the knot that bound his hands. "You're stupid if you think you can get by on your own, especially wearing the skulls of vanquished primates. They're not even runed. It's miraculous you're alive." Once his hands were free, she turned his palms upward, in the process revealing a black tattoo of an eye on her right palm. "We've just lost a few of our own. Who were your friends?"

The bloodrats' bites left bruises and small punctures all about his arms and torso with some trickling blood down his body. Instead of lowering his morale as would be expected, this only fueled a greater anger within him. This forest was evil, everything within wanted him dead and he felt the same way towards its denizens. As the woman released him from his bindings Tala suddenly felt empowered, his life was in his hands once more and he was going to make this forest, and any who opposed him, feel his wrath.

At the edge of the hill, the archer hissed in frustration and the man behind her growled. "You missed! It's looking this way!"

The purple light below the hill suddenly flashed bright, illuminating them all for a moment.

Behind them, a green light flashed among the dark trees.

For a flicker of a moment, a man all in black, with a black mask, appeared in the lantern light and then was gone.

"Move!" someone screamed.

The trees began to shudder and twist; their roots rumbled and cracked and thundered angrily in the ground beneath them, and the hill shook and swayed like an earthquake.

The woman took an iron pendant from around her neck and slipped it over Talan's head, with only a glance that warned him to trust her.

Upon showing her hands Talan pulled his back from the woman,"I have no friends" he said coldly. Before he could say more however, another voice broke the momentary silence. What came after was chaos, a flash of purple light illuminated the group before fading out, not long after a green light began to flash behind them with a black silhouette of a man nearby. The ground began to shake violently as the tree roots began to writhe about in the underground. With all this going on Talan didn't notice the woman put around his neck until it was resting around his neck. He jumped slightly in surprise but quickly understood the look she gave him. He'd play along for now, at least until the current crises is ended.
Liking it so far, looking forward to the Character.
By all means feel free to. I was hoping someone would take it, who'd pass up the chance of living on an island paradise?
Alright so far we have two factions and two actual "adventurers". Now for an actual group I'd picture the number being five. As for factions I guess we can just create NPC factions if that's cool with everyone else.

I'm still here, just waiting for Mokley.
The Ash Elves have a slightly longer lifespan than a human. Where the average human lifespan is 70-80 years an Ash Elf lives to be between 100-120.
