Sir Garrett

Themerlinhawk

With Julianna's departure Sir Garrett frowned. “That woman has less morals than an adder. And that might be insulting the adder.” Given the look of things near the Princess Sir Garrett gave Marianne a very gentle guiding tug. “Come on, let's see if maybe we can disperse some of the anger rolling off them. No doubt the Princess hardly appreciates it.” Giving Marianne a sheepish smile. “I'm sorry if it seems like I hid things from you. We can talk later, it's only fair that I give an explanation.”

Closing in on the heated group of Knights Sir Garrett pricked up his ears straining for some sort of clue as to why they appeared ready to have it out right in front of the princess. Straining he caught a good portion of her rant. With a grim look Sir Garrett gently lifted Marianne arm from his.

“Please excuse me for leaving a lovely lady such as yourself unattended Dame Marianne. I think perhaps Count Thorn is needed right now. Excuse me for just a moment?”

Sweeping back his coat the big man cut a polite path through the nobles. There wasn't really an option left to them as the six, six giant of a man passed through them with ease. Approaching the group of Knights all but openly arguing in front of the Princess.

Placing his hand on Tyaetha’s shoulder Sir Garrett looked down at the undead knight. Complete recognition in his eyes as well as chastisement. “Dame Tyaetha, I beg your pardon and I hate to cut off your audience with the Princess, but could I have a moment with the Princess? Perhaps you could go and retrieve our honored Captain for her well deserved audience.”

Turning to face the Princess Sir Garrett’s whole demeanour had changed. Gone was the man who stood half way between worlds. One foot in the Savage hills of Velt and the other in the geaves of a Knight. Standing tall and proud, the Savage nobility of his people radiating from him Sir Garrett’s presence dismissing the other two present. With a bow at the waist he pressed his right hand to his chest.

“Princess Eliabelle. On behalf of Jarl Orrin of Clan Skildren I bring greetings from my esteemed father. I am Count Valdoth Thorn, Sword of Clan Skildren. It is a pleasure to meet you. You may call me Sir Garrett, I took a new name when I came to Thaln. It has been easier for me to fit in with a new name and a position as a Knight. I must say the last few years here have been a string of new and wonderful experiences. The least of which has been meeting you, if you will excuse the blatant flattery. You have an incredible Kingdom and your people are so different than those who live in the Hills of Velt.”

Politely Sir Garrett folded his hands behind his back and gave his full attention to the Princess. The other Knights needed to cool off. Tyaetha most of all; she was being played like a fiddle by Julianna and she couldn't even tell. It was like watching a three ring circus. Clearly this is what politics are like in Thaln. Detestable. It took all of Sir Garrett’s composure and focus in order to prevent himself from losing the cultured veneer. The training he received before he left home could only last him so long.

I feel sad that no one has yet to remember or recognize that Marianne was the one that delivered the killing blow. Is that conceited or selfish of me? xD;

Sir Garrest does

Edit: that was a pretty serious gauntlet throw.

Edit 2: wow. If Sir Garrett ends up close enough to hear that post...things are going to be interesting
What are we guessing about?
SO Sir Garrett was afraid to begin with and of course you intro daddy. As if he wasn't ready to bolt or harm someone already XD.@IceHeart@harinezumikouken
Sir Garrett

Sir Garrett’s eyes narrowed as the two of them both focused their collective gaze on him. Oh now I see how it is. Well if we are going to play this game then, it's war. As Marianne took his other arm he exhaled slowly through his nose; how best to deal with these two in one fell swoop. Marianne was playing at something other than Julianna was. Turning he lead the two lovely girls out of the general center of attention. While the tips of his ears were quite pink from the excessive attention it did not break his alcohol bolstered social confidence.

What in the world did I do to deserve this Sir Garrett sighed as he directed them towards the edge of the room again. No doubt they needed to make an appearance before the princess; however before that he planned on not having both of them hanging on his arms. It probably would not present the best possible image for a Knight. Let alone someone who had been thrust into the spotlight as foreign nobility. Flicking his eyes he looked for an effective escape from the situation.

“Fine if this is going to be how it is then have at.”

There were plenty of things he’d hidden from the Knights but it largely had to do with the fact that this was partially a self imposed exile. Now that he was in the spotlight here in Thaln it would no doubt cause enough of a ripple to get attention at home. Unwanted attention which could have future consequences. People had been suspicious since his sister had escaped and his brothers supporters had immediately questioned if he had let her go and used the whole thing as a ruse to keep her in his back pocket for a rainy day.

Fools, instead of chasing her they just looked to burn me at the stake instead

Wandering his way over the line of people making to speak with the Princess he stopped with the two female knights. “You have until we reach the Princess. After that if you want more then you’re just going to have to give chase. Ask all you want but you won’t get any more from me. You’ll have to find me on the dance floor.’ He paused and thought for a moment. Hopefully I still remember how. Hopefully he could hide there long enough to avoid the third degree from everyone whose ears had pricked up at the title.

Why did I come again? Stupid herald.

Looking up Sir Garrett saw a rather tall man through the crowd. The hairs on the back of his neck stood on end as he caught how the man was looking at him. What the hell? Tilting his head ever so slightly he narrowed his eyes as he took in the pair. Who the hell is that? The appearance scratched at the back of his mind as he lead the two through the crowd putting some space and bodies between the pair. The hairs on the back of his remained on end as he walked. The axe at his belt suddenly became far more apparent and he became incredibly aware of just hwo difficult Marianne had made it for him to defend himself.

Oh this night just keeps getting better.

Julianna was even more devious than he given her credit for as she continued to dance around with their conversation. It was clear from the way she thought that she was resigned to her fate. Or was it?....She Wanted to be a part of her family's schemes to replace Fanilly with their own. It was a truely interesting perspective being able to peer into the political machinations of Thaln. It was not something that he would happily take part in but given that he no longer could hide behind Sir Garrett there was no doubt in his mind that he would soon be drawn into it. A foreign noble with a decent amount of resource and leverage was something even Garrett could see being useful to one of the nobles here.

As she walked with him she continued her commentary on freedom. It didn’t really seem to bother her that she was a pawn in her family's games. If anything it bothered him more that she was totally okay with the whole situation. Then again being a leader also grants you immense power does it not? Fanilly after all was the ultimate example of power; even though she didn’t get it. The Order was not their to serve her but to make her be the best she could possibly be. That was the point of an uncorrupted, pure, naive leader. Atleast so long as she appeared to be on the outside. The Knights were the ones who really had to do the heavy lifting; which was fine with him. It wasn’t about Fanilly leading, it was about how the Knights made sure she appeared to be.

Continuing to listen politely it was apparent she wasn’t going to reveal her motivation for appearing any time soon. Perhaps you truly just wanted to talk? I don’t believe that for a second. As he was retrieving a drink he caught a noble approach from the corner of his eye and braced for impact. Julianna navigated the verbal thrust smoothly and in the process made it look like she meant it. Taking a smooth sip of the drink Sir Garrett looked down at Julianna who was still on his arm and then back up at the countess. “Although frankly I’m certain I can break them of their opinion. After all, who wouldn’t want an army of Barbarians ready to come to the assistance of their new family members.”

It was a joke but he let the implication sink in as he took another sip. “It was a pleasure to meet you Countess, I hope you enjoy the party.”

@IceHeart

After delivering his thought provoker Marianne arrived and began laying on the praise for Julianna. It was true Julianna was quite beautiful. Eyeing Marianne as she continued to compliment Julianna; Sir Garrett smiled into the next sip of his drink. The Delacroix Knight was plenty beautiful herself and he had no doubt that the maids had something to do with it. Are you here to save me from Julianna. Please say yes. Sir Garrett chuckled to himself. What in the world have I gotten myself into?

Turning at the announcement of the princess he raised an eyebrow at her appearance. They certainly did not do her justice when they said she was beautiful. That was certainly at least a part of why she was favored by the masses. No doubt she was also at least partially a philanthropist; as beautiful as she was there was no way that it was the only reason the people loved her. Musing over it Sir Garrett flicked his eyes to the side to observe Marianne again. I Think tonight is going to be bearable. Smiling into his drink again he finished off the second glass, the alcohol was certainly helping.

@harinezumikouken
