The World as We Know It

The World, the Year of Our Lord, 1899. Industrialization, imperialism and of course war have driven themselves as front page news for much of recent memory. With the turn of the century at hand, a great many nations see to it that with the new century comes new fortunes and new frontiers. The World as We Know It is a political, economical, social and military simulator where you take on a single nation and attempt to steer it towards greatness. You will represent that nation's people, it's ideology and its leaders while navigating random events by the GM, as well as other players aspirations. TWaWKI has basic mechanics that allowed for complex situations to arise and is easily managed for even the newest members to Roleplayers Guild.

Mechanics / Ideas
- Military: Nations will have available to them a very realistic slew of soldiers in an easily accessible fashion. Combat will be managed on the strategic level with attention paid to logistics, training and strategy.
- Politics: Demographics and political parties will represent your nation's inner workings. Paying attention here will contribute to a stable nation.
- Economics: Nations will have available to them a randomized series of resources that will provide bonuses to various characteristics of your nation.
- Technology: Developing industrial and military technologies is an essential function of your nation. Falling behind could have disastrous consequences.

If you were accepted, please post your Nation Sheet in "Characters".
Going to get these added in to my system.

Going to get a map up soon.

Anyone have any questions/suggestions.

Yay! I feel important. Here is my WIP:

Official Government Name: The Most Holy and Majestic Grand Sultanate of the Rainlands, the Winter Isles, and the Glorious Dygracia [the Dygracian Sultanate, the Grand Sultanate, Dygracia Major]
Head of State: His Holy Majesty, the Grand Sultan Ozkirk the Goldshield, of the Royal House Zajek, the Wise and Fair Lion of Dygracia, He Who Presides from the Gilded Throne, Born to His Divine Grace Jyter the Silverlion Under the Dolphin One-Score-and-Twelve Winters Past, Anointed by the Honorable Electors and Messengers of Heavenly Will Eleven Autumns Past, the Mighty Lord of the Abyss and the Inferno, Father of the Harvest, Divine Protector of Man, Long May His Valor Reign. [His Divine Grace Ozkirk the Goldshield of Zajek, Grand Sultan of Dygracia]
Capital City: Dygracia
National Language: Dygracian
Basic Demographics: (What is the geography like?) [I think this was confused...]
--------------------------------------------------
I.Nation
- Population: 6
- Stability: 3
- Landmass: 3
- Demographics: 2
- Civilian Industry: 5
- Armaments Industry: 4
- Infrastructure: 6
- Naval Industry: 5

II. Military:
- Army Size: 1
- Army Training: 1
- Army Technology: 1
- Navy Size: 3
- Navy Training: 4
- Navy Technology: 5

III. Economics:
- Rare Resources: 4
- Common Resources: 2
- Luxury Resources: 2
- Bureaucracy: 6

I'll add more to the demographics, but this feels light for an advanced roleplay TBH.

Please PM me the demonymic and brief descriptions for five ethnic minorities in your country. Accepted.
Likewise very much a WIP...and I agree with Publius. The simulation numbers are important, but I'd perhaps like a description of the capital/important locations and some key characters too :) .

Accepted. Please give the demonyms of four ethnic minorities within the Tarantese Empire (PM them to me).
ALSO: If you want to add in your nation's history, go for it. It's just simply not necessary for nation generation at this particular stage of the game.
I am interested although I would like to know if the world looks the same or if not. Having a place to put the nation helps me imagine it better.

Sure. It's a fictional world with a European-esque continent, African-esque, and Asian-esque continent.

And no need to post the fully fledged game mechanics until enough players have joined. No worries. This is advanced.
We have enough! Alors, c'est trés fantastique. I'll update this post in a few hours with a Nation Application for you five. We'll call you the "Big Five." :D

Well?!
Heya there. New to the guild but not high level simulation, this looks quite interesting. I'm a bit of a history buff so this sounds like my thing.

If you're accepting claims, mine'd be a tough pick between Germany and Murica. I'd like to hear a bit more about specific mechanics before making a hard commitment though.

I suppose it's my fault beyond anything: this is a fictional world, not the real world but with technology (and for simplicity's sake) the same "year" for purposes of relation. So you'd be making your own nation and culture, etc.
