Khaine, Oblivion Depths -

With a high-pitched whine and the sound of distant screams Godfall whirred to life, slicing into the beast's side. Glad this strategy had landed not one but two hits on his enemy Khaine knew there would be a response. And the creature didn't respond, once more glowing up blue as it aimed a beam of blue-and-white light at Godfall, and Khaine behind it. Knowing that the weapon was too valuable to risk Khaine instantly returned it to the Armoury, even as he shot to the side in order to evade the attack. Even with the fore-warning granted by Titanica's scales glowing up blue he was only able to avoid a direct hit, and the blast engulfed him. Launched head-over-heels by the shockwave from the blast's impact, he was caught by his web of chains. Swiftly janked off off and away he made sure any secondary blasts would have a much harder time targetting him, and got ready to make another move.

Luckily, Khaine had been forged in the flames of hell. While designed to be incredibly durable in general he was particularly resistant to heat. Lava was a hot bath for him, and little more. And while not composed of flames this breath weapon did appear to make use of heat to destroy it's enemies, moreso than kinetic energy or any other force. As such he'd been able to survive the blast with only minor damage, stuff he'd be able to swiftly recover from. Of course that wasn't to say he was confident in his ability to survive a direct hit - such an attack would most certainly blow holes in him, melting away significant portions of his body, even with his ability to resist heat-based attacks. But as long as he was able to predict the blasts there was no real chance of taking a direct hit, and he was certainly able to outmanoeuvre the beast.

Knowing he'd found his advantage Khaine launched himself through the sky along his web of chains. Analysis of his opponent during combat had shown him the length of the creature's limbs when extended to giant-size. With this knowledge he soared far out of it's reach, even as it once more called upon the powers of the Armoury. A thought opened up portals near Titanica's feet, as solid walls of black steel surrounded her on all sides. At the same time spears would once more erupt from the ground below her, as well as emerging from the air above her. Sandwiched in between these the beast would have no choice but to charge through the walls, on the other sides of which she would find lances set to pierce her body if she tried. The trap was completed by once more summoning Godfall while in mid-swing, orbitting the pillar at irregular speeds. While simply firing the weapon blindly through the walls might yield some results it would occupy Khaine, and might betray his position, allowing the beast to target him with it's blue beam of death. Instead he was waiting for the moment when the beast escaped this little sandwich, and charged full speed into his true trap.

A true trap, of course, was a trap one couldn't escape. The true art of war was to learn exactly what your opponent was capable of, usually by forcing them to use all of their tricks, and then to abuse that knowledge. To create a situation in which whatever they did would trigger the trap, a trap that simply could not be unravelled.

If the beast remained in the pillar, it would be skewered by lances from both sides.

If it charged through the wall with brute force it's own strength would impale it on the pikes placed outside.

If it tried to jump it would run full force into the spikes coming from above. Trying to clear the attacks coming from either direction with her breath weapon would leave her open from the other direction, once more getting impaled.

Her only real chance was her enlarging power. Based on her previous uses being consistent with one another her power was not to simply alter the size of her body parts, but rather she had two 'modes'. Normal-sized and giant-sized. If this was true her only recourse would be to return her entire body to giant size, turning the lances into needles as the trap was torn apart by the rapid increase. Of course, that was just the instant he was waiting for.

With Godfall at the ready he aimed at the currently empty sky. The moment the beast returned to it's true form it would be a target that was impossible to miss, as well as being momentarily unaware of his position. All he needed was a moment, a single clear shot, with her not knowing what direction the attack was coming from. Even then he might not be able to kill it, not in truth. After all, it was vastly more powerful than he was.

But, he would prove to it just how much folly it was to underestimate the power of a single soldier. He would teach it that even Gods can Fall.
@Lucius Cypher
Ah, but communication can be performed in so many ways. The way you write is a reflection of your 'tone', and in conversations 'tone' is everything. I simply asked that people attempt to speak in a more friendly manner. In my experience, this tends to make conversations go by more smoothly.

So then hunt down Helena. I at least have been going straight for her, and intend to at least attempt to sock her in the face. Although Khaine already seems to have a habit of getting into fights above his pay grade.
@KoL
I would like to interject with two statements.

First, a collective verbal hug. It seems there are upset people, and there should not be. Nobody should be blaming people.

While I'm glad that I got the Dungeon's theme correct this was also partially by chance. People all add/subtract their own things from your explanation, due to the imperfect way in which words translate to ideas. So sometimes people have different interpretations of something, which you can then either encourage or discourage.

Overall it seems to me like people feel like their characters aren't being useful. So I recommend the player caste finds something really big and ugly (maybe Helena? Not sure how strong she's supposed to be) and beat the crap out of it. Big fight, lots of people, and one of the big bad vassal-tier beings actually being defeated. Or at least damaged.

Oh well, that's just what I think would be cool at this point.
@Lucius Cypher
Based on what I've seen this place 'chooses' what it creates. So it might be your mech, or it might be the living personification of your own craving for power in the shape of your mech. And then it might crush you. Because it's a dick.
@The 42nd Gecko
Based on what I've seen the only faction with any reason to do anything is Grafdakka's little 'thing'. Not sure if it can really be called a faction, but at least they have some idea of what they're doing.
@Lucius Cypher
Not sure how she could just 'produce' armies. Actually, would summoned/created life also be immortal? If so you could just create a bunch of self-destructing sentient robots. As long as they can think, they'll resurrect!

@The 42nd Gecko
I suppose that makes some degree of sense. These leaders sure are lax about this war. Then again, considering the circumstances, I'm not sure anyone really has any chance of winning ever, so hey. Guess it's irrelevant.
I still fail to understand why any faction would ever bring anything less than their entire army. I mean, it's not like you'll lose any soldiers, they're all immortal.
Elimination Squad, Covenant Base -

Emerging from the burned shell of the Covenant cover building came the ten figures who had stepped inside. Some brandished strange specialist weaponry, while others were carrying armfuls of unconscious Covenant operatives. Some had wounds, but all had been bandaged up. At least one looked like he'd been turned on the spot in order to allow him to survive the massive hole in his chest. Lesser soldiers rushed into the building, removing more unconscious captives from it and tending to whatever wounded remained. Dead enemies were of no value to the Army, but living ones presented a variety of enticing opportunities. With the superiority embodied by the ten Death Troopers it had been easy to take out these humans without any undue casualties, and the majority of them were even now being loaded into trucks. Perhaps they would be turned into thralls, or used as human livestock. Regardless, they were useful.

One of the Death Troopers looked around as they listened in on radio chatter. It appeared there were more Covenant forces in this town than expected, and only a few of them were in the base.

"North, south, east and west are secure. The four divisions are prepared for a counterattack."

"A Hybrid covenant ally named Vlad has been spotted. Last seen fighting Col. Blue. Requesting backup."

"Tristan has turned on us. Reasons are unknown. Take him out ASAP."

Sighing, Brig. General Sky interjected with his own comment. "The base has been cleared out, all hostiles dealt with. No friendly casualties, minimal enemy casualties. Trucks should be arriving at the South Gate soon. No significant intel acquired, they fried their hard drive before we captured them." With that he finished, there was no time for unnecessary chatter. He had completed his orders, and in the lieu of further commands it was best to work towards securing the town. It appeared there were two dangerous enemies on the loose, both of whom needed to be dealt with before this town was fully under vampire control. As such it was only logical to hunt them down and deal with them, while protecting all important assets.

"Jade, Gold, guard the central base. It's possible the enemy will try to free the prisoners. Crimson, you're with me. The rest of you, hunt in pairs. Our targets are a hybrid named Vlad, and the rogue vampire Tristan. Both are highly dangerous. Subduing them is preferable, but lethal force is authorised. Move!" With that the Death Troopers went their separate ways, each already knowing who their partner was. They leaped onto nearby buildings and began running along the roofs like dark spectres, superhuman speed and agility allowing them to cover ground rapidly. It wouldn't be long before their targets were discovered and then eliminated. Even if they were able to hold their own against two Death Troopers, the rest would be quick to back them up in the event of a fight.

Sky himself simple walked through the open roads, soldiers rushing past him this way and that. Although he looked relaxed, nothing escaped his gaze. Crimson followed behind him, covering his blind spots. Even if he covered ground more slowly, he wouldn't miss a thing. If the enemy was foolish enough to remain in town, he'd encounter them eventually.
@Lmpkio
That would probably work. I can imagine Khaine just staring at it, attempting to comprehend it, right up until the moment he gets hit.
@KoL
There are certain Godzilla comics where he can dodge bullets.

It's pretty silly.
