I won't be home till like 8-10 hours and I'll read you posts in further detail then.
And if you're wondering about the style of sci-fi, I'm thinking something along the lines of Mass Effect (or even Star Trek, for that matter). It'll be an original creation, and not tied down to another franchise in media. The human race is technologically capable of traveling space, they have visited multiple systems, came into contact with other space-faring systems, and established an alliance of species known as the Union (name suggestion?). Opposing them is a faction known as the Confederation, who want to follow their own rules and not bend the knee to the Union. They fought a devastating war which crippled them both, known as the Corvais War, and agreed to a truce afterwards. These two factions own nearly 3/4ths of the galaxy (a few smaller factions may exist too), while the other 1/4th is known as Deadzone. Deadzone is a lawless region of space where pirates, criminals, slavers, and even refugees go to escape from the rules of the Confederates and the Union. Most of what goes on in Deadzone is controlled by various mercenary gangs, who have underground connections with corrupt corporations within law-abiding space. They deal in smuggling, extortion, etc.
Some time ago I got pretty excited when I saw FOX ordered a script from Len Wiseman (Underworld series) described as being 'the Dirty Dozen in space'. I haven't seen anymore on it, however, but the upcoming film Suicide Squad put me in mind of it again. I always thought about how cool it would be to do 'Suicide Squad' or 'Dirty Dozen' in space. It was the character-dependent formula of Mass Effect 2 that materialized the idea for me.

When it comes to science fiction, one might imagine spectacular starships, brave heroes, and the beauty of an unexplored frontier. That's not what this is going to be about.

Each character is required to be scum. That includes, but is not limited to, thugs, assassins, bounty hunters, criminals, smugglers, mercenaries - you know the type. After everyone has been recruited we will begin our adventure - or rather, a series of misadventures. But the RP isn't going to focus so much on the story as it is the characters. As the saying goes it's about the journey, not the destination'.

Each of you will start with very little to no background, and this background will be explored over the course of the RP as each and every one of you interact and get to know one another. Ultimately, some of you may have special requests, or little jobs pertaining to your character's past/agenda, and the whole crew will help you complete that job - further cementing your loyalty and camaraderie.

The bulk of the RP will take place on our starship, no doubt, as we interact and get to know each other. Every now and again we will embark on missions important to the storyline, and visit various locations to do god-knows-what.

So... that's what I got. Bunch of bad, mysterious guys and gals on a starship doing dangerous stuff, all the while bonding with one another. Suggestions or posts of interest are welcome.
@funnyguy I usually post more on weekends than weekdays. I work for the better part of the weekdays. So if I ever hold Omega up, feel free to ditch me to go and do something else. I can make do with the situations I am presented.

Colton 'Colt' Rumby, AKA Blademaster

Colt nodded his head as he thought about what he heard. "I guess if I refuse I'll be charged with robbery... so I guess I have no choice but to join." He had made his decision. Of course, he had ulterior motives. By joining the league, he would have access to information and allies that could help him fight the Suits - and perhaps find an important figure from his past.

Colton fitted his Vibro-Blade's strap over his shoulder so that the weapon hung over his back. About that time Omega walked in. "I don't know what the hell's going on, man," he said, "just show me how to-" Colton stopped his sentence cold. Perhaps... perhaps these superhumans could help him. Colton cleared his throat, "ahem, I mean, why don't you tell me what the deal is. What is this place? And who are you guys?"

An extremely confused Colt could only stand still as he watched the exchange between Shiver and the cops. Before he knew it he was whisked away to some building. Shiver took his duffel bag - but not before Colt removed his short sword - and then she teleported it away before reappearing.

He looked dumgfounded, completely taken by surprise at all the things going on. "Huh-wha- wait a minute, what's going on!?" Maybe Shiver, or even Omega could explain what was happening. He had been locked up in a facility for a while and had only been free for a few months. He knew very little about current events.

Colton 'Colt' Rumby, AKA Blademaster

"I'm just some random guy... with a duffel bag. Yeah, that's right, look the other way." Colt was talking to himself, mocking a cop standing on the corner across the road. His hat, navy blue in color, concealed his face only a little, and his clothes were pretty rough. These disguises didn't matter though, because as soon as the officers of the San Francisco Police Department saw his duffel bag they'd know he was a likely suspect of a robbery that occurred just five minutes ago. By now, all lawmen in the city were aware of the robbery.

The cop on the corner scanned the area once again and his eyes stopped dead on Colton's duffel bag. "Damn it," Colt cursed to himself. The cop raised his radio up to his mouth and spoke some words before walking across the street towards Colt. He was on to him now, no doubt about it.

Wasting no time, Colton darted down an alley way and the cop took off in full pursuit, attracting other nearby patrols. "Stop right there!" The young con rounded the alley's corner and was faced with fence standing seven feet high causing him to come to a sliding halt. "I said stop," the cop yelled again, now reinforced with three backup officers; all of them drew their pistols and aimed at Colton. They had him cornered and surrounded, nowhere to run.

He turned around to face the lawmen and thrust his right hand forward, open-palmed. A vibratory sound filled the air as sonic waves knocked the cops to the ground. Rumby tossed his duffel bag filled with stolen money and a short sword over the brick wall. He approached the stone structure and put both of his palms on it, sending powerful vibrations through it. After a few seconds the wall was weakened enough for Colton to knock a hole in it and climb through it. By now, the cops were back on their feet - but they were momentarily dazed and needed a moment to recuperate.

An overhead bridge that passed over the alley was up ahead. Colton could manage to climb it, no doubt, and probably lose his pursuers. Slinging the duffel bag back over his shoulder, he started climbing up one of the bridge's concrete supports and finally heaved himself over onto the road.

Unfortunately for him, Shiver had teleported right in front of him. He stopped dead in his tracks, looking at her confused. "Who the hell are you?"
