There's a panhandler who hangs out on the street corner by our dispensary every afternoon with a sign that just says "Green 4 Green?" and tbh, I respect my boy's confidence.

Posting Speed: Depending on my schedule, I can usually post at least once per week
Favorite Genres: Modern, Historical, Romance, Action/Adventure, Horror/Dark, Fantasy, Slice of Life, Dystopian, can be convinced to write some Sci-Fi
Hard 'no's: Fandoms. Sorry, but I can't maintain interest in characters/worlds I didn't build with my partner

Romantic Relationships: MxF or MxM (currently prefer MxM)
Character Images: Faceclaims or detailed descriptions only. I envision the characters like real people in my mind, so I can't take anime seriously

Finally got done :) How are you doing too? Are you still tired?
While Iris slept against his side, Cas managed to move past the awkward moment as his thoughts wandered back to his unmade decision about going home. He didn’t want to rush into choosing one path over another, but it was difficult not to think about it when it was such an important choice. He still couldn’t believe his father wasn’t stopping everything to look for him. Even if Atlas hadn’t cared much about him as family, he’d thought the king would at least want to make sure he came back so he could take over the throne. There was no one else in the capital that was equipped or even allowed by law to do it in his place.

It was common knowledge that in Aspiria, only a blood relative or a spouse could succeed the crown after a ruler passed away. His father had always said he wasn’t going to take a second wife after his first passed away, and he didn’t trust any of his estranged siblings or their families enough to name one of them as his inheritor. Cas didn’t know the full story, but he’d heard about some sort of betrayal of trust that had happened between Atlas and one of his brothers decades ago that had provoked the monarch to write all but his immediate family out of his will. At the time, the king had thought he was protecting the crown in doing so, but now his decision to thin the royal line was coming back around to bite him. Never before had the monarchy been this vulnerable to being completely severed. It was why he couldn’t fathom a reason why his father didn’t seem to care whether his only heir survived or not.

Mulling over it for so long that he lost track of time, he was roused from his thoughts when he felt Iris stir against his side. He craned his neck to look down at her and smiled as she clung to him, still half asleep. No matter what was going on with his father, at least he could have some peace of mind with the knowledge that he wasn’t completely alone. “I didn’t tell you to get up,” he chuckled at her request for ‘five more minutes.’ Reaching up, he placed a hand on the arm she’d draped over his chest and stroked it gently until she finished waking up.

Suddenly, he felt her pull away from him, and he looked up at her bemusedly as she apologized to him. “I don’t know what you’re sorry about,” he said, sitting up beside her and stretching his limbs. He’d been comfortable lying next to her, but he’d gotten a little stiff because he’d been careful not to move so he wouldn’t wake her. “I made you wait for me when I took a nap first. It isn’t a big deal.”

Glancing up at the sky, he wasn’t sure exactly what time it was, but the sun seemed to be moving gradually toward the western horizon. It was probably late in the afternoon. “How are you feeling now?” he asked, turning back to Iris. She’d still felt hot pressed up against his side, but he couldn’t tell if it was because of her fever or because she was wearing two jackets while he was just in a snug t-shirt. He hoped the rest had helped her recover at least a little.
Can't wait to see what you came up with! We're finally gonna end all the peace that's been going on for the last many pages xD
Still shaking off the last of his weariness, Crow moved a little slower than usual as he slid his cloak over his shoulders. Around him, the rest of the group was getting ready to leave as well. Otto and Rayner were nearly done putting on their armor, having been the first to wake up, while Preston was standing by the door and Percival had gotten up to start on his armor too. Watching the knights, the former thief was grateful that the uniform he had to wear was simpler than theirs. The fabric of his surcoat and cloak were heavy, but at least it was better than tying metal plates to every visible part of his body. He would never envy the work they had to put into getting ready every morning and taking it all off to sleep every night.

Stepping off to the side to wait for them without being jostled by any elbows in the small space, he glanced at Penelope, who had approached him in the same moment. Her furtive demeanor caught his attention, and he leaned toward her slightly as she asked him where she should tell his old companions to meet him. Considering the question, he narrowed his eyes slightly as he pictured the landscape between Silverpool and Myrefall. There were plenty of potential meeting spots that the thieves would recognize, since they were all familiar with the area, but one stood out to him above the others.

“Tell them to meet me at the fallen tree halfway to Silverpool,” he told her decisively. “They’ll know what you mean.” In the middle of the woods, there were countless fallen trees, so he knew the message sounded cryptic. However, there was one particularly enormous tree that he and the others had seen a few times when they had traveled to and from the border village. From what he could tell, it sat almost exactly halfway between Silverpool and Myrefall, so it would be a good point for them all to meet.

“Fetch the horses now that everyone is ready.”

Crow glanced up as Otto sent Preston and Percival off on their usual errand. It looked like all of them were finished putting on their armor, so they would be leaving for the next village as soon as the two men returned with their rides. That meant he would be saying goodbye to Penelope very soon too. At the thought, he reached for her hand and gave it a squeeze. He wished they could travel together longer, but it was important to him that he got to see his old friends at least once while he was in the outer villages, so unfortunately, they would have to part ways here.

It’s just two weeks, he reminded himself, turning back to her. “How about you wait with us for the horses before you go?” he suggested, grasping at one last opportunity to spend time with her before they split up. “Preston and Percy are already on their way to get them, so you might as well stay until they come back.”

The blush that appeared on Victoria’s cheeks when he complimented her eyes was endearing to Vail. He was glad that she seemed pleased with the change he pointed out to her rather than startled by it. After everything she had just been through, he hadn’t been sure how she would react. Then again, she had probably been expecting quite a few changes to occur since she had just been turned from a human into a vampire. Even though this one hadn’t been on the list, it wasn’t much different than her senses that had undoubtedly gotten stronger now that she was no longer mortal or the strength that would fill her lithe body as she recovered.

When she threw her arms around him, he returned the embrace, simply happy that there was life inside of her again. Looking at her corpse for a week had been difficult for him when he hadn’t been certain she would ever come back. “You are,” he mused with a smile, equally enthused that she was ‘like him’ now. As she pulled back to meet his gaze, he considered her question. “I do think so,” he nodded after a moment. The only person he’d needed to hide their relationship from had been his father, but Peter wouldn’t be an issue anymore. He had other problems with the clan leader that he still needed to deal with, but fighting with him about who he could be with wasn’t one of them.

Her question about his family made him shift his weight. He wasn’t quite sure how to answer her, and he didn’t want to dampen her good mood by telling her that more than half of the Hygrace clan had been killed by Mikael Wynter. Fortunately though, he was rescued from responding by Diana, who had burst into the room to see her daughter. Giving them space, he rose from his seat by the bed and stepped back while the elder Lady Crest hugged Victoria. If it was possible, she looked even more elated to see that she had survived the transformation than he was.

When Diana turned to him, Vail nodded wordlessly in reply to her gratitude. He knew she wasn’t entirely thrilled that her only daughter was now a vampire fledgling, but her joy at being able to reunite with Victoria seemed to outweigh her sadness about losing the young woman’s humanity. He assumed it would take her some time to get used to, so when she said that she would give them her blessing if they wanted to get married, he stared at her, taken aback. The statement felt abrupt, so it took him a moment to regain his composure before he managed to echo Victoria’s response and thank her as well.

Caught up in the uncertainty of whether or not the Crest heiress would even survive being turned, he hadn’t thought about marrying her in quite a while. Now that the subject had been brought up again, however, he realized that was something else they could do now that the barriers between them had been removed. It was a peculiar thought. Just a few months ago, he had believed he wouldn’t marry anyone unless his parents arranged for it. He’d never had the desire to seek out a life-long partner on his own. But now, looking at the woman who’d captured his heart, he wanted to wed her more than anything else. He only wondered if his family would be willing to attend the ceremony.

Stepping back over to sit at the foot of the bed now that Diana and Victoria had a chance to catch up, he turned to the widow as well when her daughter asked about the Saints. Though he’d been hoping to delay telling her about the battle until she’d recovered a little more, it seemed like that was going to be unavoidable because of all the questions she had. At least her mother was here to relay some of the news, so he didn’t have to bear the burden of filling her in on everything by himself.
Yeah, it's a lot. That's why so many people here want to see the healthcare system reformed. I can relate to not wanting to see the doctor too, haha. I rarely visit, but I have a few health issues that make me go in sometimes ^^; namely my migraines and asthma, but also a few other disorders I had in the past and some acute issues. I wasn't lucky enough to be born with healthy genes, I guess lol For most other things, I just stay home and ride it out with over-the-counter medicines though.

Also, I need to get caught up on posts for a couple other RPs, so I may take a little while to write back. Just so you know! :)
Yep, it's pretty common for people here to be charged with bills so high, they go bankrupt ^^; I'm lucky because my procedure wouldn't require me to stay in the hospital overnight. I've heard of some cases in which people have to be admitted longer and come away owing $10-20K+. Compared to that, $1000 is chump change.

One time I went to the hospital for severe migraines. I was only there for literally thirty minutes before they released me with a prescription for painkillers and I got charged a little over $100 for the visit. It's awful.

As for my schooling, I'm not going to graduate school because in my field, graduate degrees are just for people who want to teach at a university. I'm fully done unless I decide to take a few classes for fun here and there at my local community college :) I'm thinking about learning sign language
Yeah, fifteen minutes of torture was worth not wanting to shoot myself on the daily XD And I'm pretty sure it'll be really expensive because the American healthcare system is broken. Last time I had a procedure under general anesthesia, I got slapped with a $1000 bill. It'll most likely be the same thing this time, if not more expensive

And thanks! It still hasn't hit me that I don't have due dates for classes anymore, but I'm glad to be done ^^
Procedure went all right. Hella painful because the anesthetic didn't work, but I'm not in constant pain anymore xD Sad news is that my doctor is pretty sure I'm gonna need a followup surgery next week under general anesthesia. I'm not looking forward to that hospital bill!

On a brighter note, I'm officially done with my undergraduate degree, so I'll have a lot of time to write now, especially while I'm resting up from my surgeries!
When Iris said he made her feel safe, Caspian couldn’t help but smile. He wasn’t sure why she felt that way around him, especially since she had been the one to save him multiple times now, but he liked knowing that she did. He’d never thought of himself as the type to be looked up to as a protector, since he’d spent his whole life being looked after by the royal security team and doted on by people who treated him like he was fragile. Hearing that someone actually thought he was capable of keeping her safe was new. It stirred something inside of him that made him want to live up to her expectations too.

Shifting his weight, he noticed the redness that flushed her fair skin and wondered if she’d misunderstood what he’d meant when he’d agreed with her about looking for shelter. He really had been talking about looking for a real bed, but the stammer in his voice might have been misleading. He fidgeted awkwardly with the blanket beneath him. While he couldn’t deny that the thought of “sharing a bed” had crossed his mind a few times, he wasn’t trying to push for anything like that when they had just gotten back together. Thinking about it made his heart race, but he wasn’t that impatient. Besides, he wasn’t sure if it was even a good idea, given their circumstances. They didn’t exactly have access to protection, and having an “accident” while they were on the run from the rebellion was a risk he didn’t want to face.

Not wanting to give her the wrong idea, he cleared his throat awkwardly. “I, uh, I didn’t mean…” he trailed off, inwardly cursing himself for being unable to say the words to her. Around his friends, he had no trouble joking around about the subject, but talking about it to someone he actually wanted to be with intimately made him feel hot under the collar. Forcing himself to get over it, he went on, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to give you the wrong idea. Truth is, I’ve never even shared a bed with someone before, so I just wasn’t expecting the suggestion. Not to say that I don’t want to. I just want to make sure you know I’m not trying to… well, you know…”

And the award for most uncomfortable conversation goes to Caspian Maydestone, he thought with chagrin, wishing he could just crawl under a rock and forget he’d even bothered to open his mouth. He’d thought that clearing the air would make things better, but apparently he was only good at making them worse. Eager to pretend like nothing had happened, he laid down next to Iris and pressed a hand to his face, hating how completely not-smooth-at-all he was. The media liked to make him out as some sort of royal playboy, but that couldn’t be further from reality. He was sure that if the reporters ever found out just how much he squirmed when the subject of being with a woman came up, they would have a field day.

Trying not to dwell on it, he focused on the feeling of Iris’s arm draped over his chest and the steady rise and fall of her torso beside him as she settled down to sleep. Although he was still feeling awkward because of his clumsy attempt to explain himself to her, he enjoyed the way her small frame fit against his side, and he closed his eyes, trying to relax a little while he waited for her to take her nap and wake up again, so they could check on her fever.
