Hey @everyone

White Wolf Returns: A Homecoming for World of Darkness

For over three decades, White Wolf has stood at the bleeding edge of supernatural and horror storytelling. From Vampire: The Masquerade to Werewolf: The Apocalypse and Mage: The Ascension, our games helped shape generations of roleplayers, writers, and dreamers who sought meaning in the shadows.

Today, we are proud to announce that World of Darkness will once again be guided under the name that birthed it: White Wolf.

This isn’t just a name change. It’s a return to our roots—and a commitment to the future. A future where mature horror stories are told with care. Where community and collaboration are central. Where fans, creators, and licensees can find clarity, support, and inspiration under a banner they trust.

Simultaneously, we are announcing today that White Wolf will now be a publisher, as well as a licensor, of World of Darkness games. This means that we will continue to work with our network of licensing partners who bring you all the great video games, tabletop roleplaying games, card games, and more -- but we will also develop some new games internally, and publish them.

The first game that we will publish as White Wolf is Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 as co-publisher with Paradox Interactive. We will announce additional games from White Wolf as the publisher later this year.

As White Wolf, we will:
• Reinforce our legacy as pioneers of narrative-driven horror and emotional roleplay across all our products.
• Provide clear leadership across all World of Darkness media and products.
• Support creators with improved tools, transparency, and canon guidance.
• Maintain rigorous standards for inclusivity, sensitivity, and collaboration in storytelling.

The night belongs to us all.
Welcome home, Vamily.

Know Before You Go

- Characters may either be superhuman or your every day average humans.

- Characters may either be students or faculty/staff of Greenville High School.

- Superhuman characters are first generation, and have only awoken their powers within the last year.

- Knowledge of superhumans is not public.

- Nonsupers may awaken powers at a later point in the thread if so desired. In this case, contact me via PM to discuss the power in question. If accepted, the sheet in the character tab is to be updated with the new section.

- Powers may not be based in the magical, supernatural, or extraterrestrial.

- Reality warping, omnipotence, time/gravity manipulation, and other abilities in the same vein shall be rejected outright. I reserve the right to reject a power submission for any reason, though as long as it's not horribly broken, I'm willing to work with you.

-Try to limit power selection to either a single strong set or two weaker sets. Think of specialized mutants a la X-Men rather than master-of-all-trades Superman

-Writers are free to run as many characters as they feel comfortable with, within reason.

Greenville County Sherrif's Office - The local jail and office of county sheriffs. Quite small and established sometime during the Civil War. It was last renovated in the 50s.

Madison Community College - Out in Madison sits the community college which draws from many rural towns such as Greenville. With the increase of protests, the college has become a popular place to hold demonstrations. The college is an hour out from Greenville.

Hellcat's Homestead - The only bar in all of Greenville, known for fights, booze, and women. Owned by Biff Hellcat, a washed up actor.

AFB McMichael - A joint army-air national guard base on the outskirts of Greenville. No tresspassing!

Sounds From The Past - A record and cassette shop, with the grooviest jams.

Greenville High - The town's local high school, try to behave.

Fixx 'er up- The only town's repair shop, ran by Old Man Stricklen

The Market - Three rows of stores forming a U, the only strip mall for miles. Even people from Madison have to come by, a great place to meet new people, get clothes and food. Usually.

McKraven Arms - Home of good ol' American weaponry. No automatics, sorry. A veteran owned store, Semper Fi!

Heya peeps! This is your GM Ogo here, and if you've stuck around this far, I imagine that you're at least a bit interested in this little project. Outta sight, man. Before I dive into the nitty gritty, I'll introduce myself a bit: I'm Ogo. Been around here for...what, three years? Almost? Been a ride. This will be my second solo project, with the first having been cut short due to a personal emergency a couple months back. Here's hoping things go well this time around!

So this thread will focus on the students, faculty, and staff of Greenville High School, a school in the fictional small town of Greenville in southern Illinois starting in the September of 1969 and running up to shortly after the event described in the above. Sometime earlier in the year, a few residents of the town awoke latent abilities, or superpowers if you wanna be blunt about it. While it's up to the writers to determine if their characters have let anyone know about their abilities, the fact that superhumans exist is not public knowledge. As of the start of the thread, everybody has managed to keep their dirty little secrets. Great job, everybody!

The origin of these abilities will likely play a major part in the main plot and as such will remain unknown for the time being. For the sake of character creation, however, it should be noted that all characters with abilities will be first generation superhumans. So no Supermoms or Batdads, please!

Thank you so very much for taking the time to look over the thread, and please enjoy your stay in this groovy little corner of the Guild.

Peace out!

I. Follow standard roleplaying etiquette please. So no godmoding, autohitting, and do not take control of another's character. Unless you've gotten permission from all other involved parties to do so then...I dunno. Knock yourself out?

II. Have fun. It should go without saying, but we're all here because we love to write. There is no winning. There is no losing. There's not going to be some phat piece of loot waiting at the end. And you're not going to see some game over screen. So just enjoy the journey.

III. Have a little respect. For each other. For yourselves. I'm not saying you've gotta be best friends, people, but try to remain civil. If an argument happens to break out, either drop it or take it to PMs. No need to air your dirty laundry in public. If a disagreement needs to be settled regarding in-character interactions, such as during fights or about the affects of spells and whatnot, I reserve the right to make the final decision in the case that a solution cannot be reached between the involved parties.

IV. Don't drag IC conflicts to OOC or vice versa. A little bit of IC drama is great. Adds flavor to character relationships. I can dig it. What I can't dig is when a little bit of IC spice erupts into a full blown argument in OOC. We're roleplaying here! Don't take anything personally.

V. No one-liners, please. Two+ detailed paragraphs per post if possible. This is just so that the others you're interacting with can have something with which to work. Reactions and actions make the wheel turn, ya'll.

VI. Post frequency. People have lives. School, work, family, friends, so on and so forth. Try to post at least once a week. If something comes up and you can't, just let me know either via OOC or PM.

VII. Absence/Dropping. Again, life happens. Sometimes you have to be away for a while, or perhaps you've lost interest and need a break/want to drop. That's fine! It happens to all of us. No hard feelings, whatsoever. All I ask is that you let me know prior so that I know whether to wait for you or to move on. PMs will work if you don't want to drop it in OOC. If after two weeks there's been no word, I'll proceed as if you've dropped.

VIII. Regarding Romance: Due to the nature of this thread, it's certainly possible that romance may occur. That's perfectly fine, just keep things PG-13 in the thread proper. If things get steamy, either fade to black or take it to PMs. Please. Please. please. no goldshire.

IX. Ask Questions! Don't assume and don't be embarrassed. If you've got a question, ask it.

X. Don't put pineapple on your pizza. It's still barbaric.

It's that time of year again! Fresh faces and veterans alike have returned to good old Greenville High School, eager to have a great year. And the future looks promising - the Gators kick off the season at home against division rivals the Madison Mighty Mammoths, with quite possibly the best team the school's seen in years. Already, preparations are being made for the big pep rally come Friday.

Yet despite the school spirit, tension hangs in the air. Even here, in this sleepy small town in the American Midwest, sentiments on the war run strong on both sides. Some worry about family fighting overseas. And with the possibility of a reinstated draft, many more worry about what their own futures may hold. Racial divides are still apparent in the small community and anger between the younger and older generations seems to grow by the hour.

Strange happenings around town have people on edge as well. Something's not right in Greenville...

Go Gators Go!

Nineteen sixty-nine: Nixon took the White House and man walked the moon. Hippies gathered en masse at Woodstock celebrating sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll, but elsewhere protests for peace turned violent. The Beatles play their last public show atop the Apple building and the Manson Family murders five. Yet despite being a truly eventful year, 1969 would best be remembered as the moment everything changed. The dawning of a new age. An age not of peace and love, like the old song promised, but one of fear and hatred.

This is, of course, referring to the emergence of the superhuman: men and women capable of a wide array of extraordinary feats: from super speed to super strength, mastery of the elements to mastery of the mind, flight to teleportation, the list simply goes on and on. The details around the discovery of these superhumans are muddy, with historians unable to agree on a single date or location as their origin, thanks in part to accounts having popped up over the years from a million different people claiming a million different things. It is commonly accepted, however, that the first widely public appearance would be at the infamous March on Madison or the “Madison Massacre” if you prefer.

For those unfamiliar, the Madison Massacre began as an anti-war rally at city hall in the city of Madison in the American Midwest, spurred on by the announcement of Nixon’s intentions of reinstating the draft. Upwards of 120,000 people were in attendance, either protesting the war, protesting the protesters, or unfortunately just being at the wrong place at the wrong time. About two hours into the event, a few fights broke out. Harmless fist fights at first, but they escalated. Hard and fast. Before anyone could calm down the crowd, the protest erupted into an all-out riot. Survivors of the event claim it was a spectacle to witness: people flying through the air, raining fire from above like jets dropping napalm, cars being thrown, the ground trembling and cracking. This would culminate in the haunting scene broadcast live across the country: the bright light, the rising dust, and the lone mushroom cloud hanging over the ruined American city.

Now, this paper could go on to discuss the witch hunt what followed, which harkened back to the Red Scare after WWII or the Second Red Scare of the ‘50s, or Nixon’s “Superman Act” which pardoned a superhuman should they serve the United States in the war effort, but will instead focus on the events leading up to Madison Massacre in a number of places. The following accounts may seem to be too incredible to believe, and at times, impossible. However, this historian would implore you, dear reader, to keep an open mind.

This first account will comes from Greenville, a small town close to Madison that may very well hold the answers to so many of the questions we still have regarding one of the greatest tragedies this country has ever seen. We'll be hearing the story of the so-called Freaks of Greenville High in the autumn before the infamous march.
