Yeeeeeep. Well, more or less. There are some differences (like the lack of more overt fantastical elements like magic and the fact that Monmusume takes place in the present/near future), but if you're familiar with Monster Girl Quest, then you should fit right in with the setting barring an occasional wiki walk.
If you have any questions, let me know! Since it seems like there are more people interested in this who aren't familiar with the series than I thought, I'll add a brief summary of the important stuff in the OOC I'm working on. Best advice though? Seriously, watch the anime. It doesn't take too long and even if you only watch a few episodes you should get the gist of things (although I would highly recommend watching episode 7, as it's the most relevant to the RP).
do you need to know about Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou to join? It's that I saw this and thought it looked cool, but I dunno what this is about xD
Well there's an anime currently airing that has about... 8 episodes so far, I think. You could watch that to get a decent idea of what the series is like (although the basis for this RP, MON, is only a group of side-characters in the actual series, which is far more comedic). If you don't feel like doing that or reading the manga (which also wouldn't take too long, considering there are only 36 chapters), then you can learn more about the setting from the wiki (warning: the wiki is NSFW, like most of the series): dailylifewithamonstergirl.wikia.com/wi..
Keep in mind, since you don't seem to be all that familiar with the series, Monmusume is an ecchi series. Like, incredibly so. Temper your expectations accordingly.
I feel that I need a few more details on some of the species before I could jump into it.
Okay, so I've been working on an interest check for this RP for days, but I either keep getting stuck or putting it off. So while I obsessively polish and clean it, here's just a short, quick, and neat general interest check for anyone who's a fan of Monmusume and/or is interested in this RP.
The basic premise is that you will be playing as an alternate MON group, assembled after Ms. Smith's success with the first group proved the concept was viable and worthy of funding. Depending on the performance of this second, the existence of groups like MON within human law enforcement may become an official part of legislation, but for now, all of you are still walking on thin ice to prove your usefulness and not cock things up for Ms. Smith.
That's where your newest mission comes into play. You and your squadmates have been tasked with protecting a person of interest in a case that could lead the police right to the door of Boss Kairou, an influential figure in Hyakki Yagyō or "Night Parade", the burgeoning extraspecies mafia. Not only is this your first big job, but it's also a chance to show the world that even more monstrous or inhuman extraspecies are not so dangerous that they can't be trusted to protect the life of a civilian. A lot is riding on this, and even though you won't be in the spotlight, any incidents or failures could have quite an effect on the future of human/extraspecies relations.
And that's just about it! Ideally I'm looking for four to five players, but I'm willing to start with three if no one else signs up.
Keep in mind a team like MON lives and dies on how they work together and how their skills complement each other. The original group has a mixture of Infiltrator (Doppel), Sniper (Manako), Bombardier (Tio), and Shock Trooper (Zombina). This creates a well-balanced team dynamic where no one is redundant and everyone has a role to play, and we should aspire to the same (at least in terms of the general ideology of balance).
An example of a well-balanced team would be a Long Leg or Large Breed Arachne for a balance of speed and offensive ability, a Minotaur for breaching and defeating armored targets, a Slime (of blue, red, green, pink or black variety) for infiltration and espionage, and a Raptor Harpy for reaching tall, hard to access places (they are also another species ideal for sniping due to their dual traits of flight and the ability to wield a gun despite their lack of opposable thumbs). Other potential teams could include a lamia, a zombie, an oni and a draconewt, or a devil, a one-eyed monk, a heavyweight centaur and a kobold etc.
These of course are all just suggestions and I'd like you to play whatever kind of character you want. Just please keep team balance in mind.
I'll post an OOC with all the other stuff I've been needlessly deliberating over as well as links to reference material like the series' wiki that might help people with their characters once there's enough interest.
I'm a huge fan of Monmusume and MON, but I was actually already planning on doing a small group MON RP (set in the Monmusume universe, no superpowers etc.). I hope you don't mind ^^'
If it helps, the basic idea behind the RP is a lot different than this one, so I don't think there'll be much competition. If anyone's interested though, it'd be great if you could check it out once I finish with the interest check.
